People Put At Risk Trying To Keep Warm

From an unfazed Washington Post:

Carbon monoxide taking a toll on snowbound without power

The families were just trying to keep warm. Snowbound and without power in their homes, they turned to what seemed like a good alternative: gas-fueled generators.

The problem, fire officials said, is that the families ran the generators (and, in one case, a charcoal grill) inside. Pretty soon they were short of breath, throwing up and fading in and out of consciousness. The appliances they thought would keep them safe and comfortable were pumping dangerous levels of carbon monoxide into their homes.

During and immediately after the weekend’s storm, at least 19 people, including nine children, were taken to hospitals to be treated for carbon-monoxide poisoning. There have been at least three such incidents in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.

Also in Prince George’s, two people were found dead inside a car in Bladensburg with its tailpipe blocked by ice and snow — a sign that it was not expelling carbon monoxide properly, authorities said. A third person was found under similar circumstances in Greenbelt, authorities said

Perhaps the most unusual incident came Sunday morning in the Silver Spring-Burtonsville area, where a family in the 13600 block of Cedar Creek Lane tried to use a charcoal grill inside. Eight people, including four children, were hospitalized, though their injuries were not life threatening, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service

There are countless stories like this in local media outlets across the nation after every snow storm or cold snap.

And yet we are constantly told that ‘global warming’ of three degrees will kill billions.

In truth, of course, it would probably save millions of lives – and animals.

But don’t expect to ever hear that from our media or our government run ministries of climate change propaganda.

I get your point Steve, and I completely agree of course.

Except these same people setting up BBQs in their living rooms to get warm would be the same people who here in Florida set them up in their living rooms to cook their hot dogs in the aftermath of a hurricane….you know…the hurricanes caused by…global warming.

These mental giants will always be around to gum up the stats. lol

You couldn’t believe the stupidity of some of these people and what they attempt after a hurricane here in Fla.

Yet these same people get to cancel out your vote….You know the one you took weeks of study to cast appropriately?

I have always said I think we should be required to pass some sort of test to prove we understand what the constitution says and to show we understand the three branches of govt. This is important stuff to know.

Never will happen though…that would deny the ones above of their right to be enthralled with a well turned catchy mantra and thus vote for it.

Come to think of it…there needs to be some sort of test to separate these morons from their BBQs and generators!

Thanks. I knew it came from the Duke. But I wondered if I was fracturing a great quote.

Not to sound callous, but. Is this the best that a public education can produce? Who are these people? I really want to know. I could burn styrofoam cups in an ashtray for heat….Outside! Ever read a bag charcoal lately, not the Spanish S**T, just the lawyer labels. My guess is most are taxpayer dependent (victims). How sad is it that, “rugged individualism” has been replaced by ignorance and servitude. A cold “Katrina” all over again, and with no warning.
