Carney: Investigating Navigators = Sabotage

From Mediaite:

Jay Carney Blasts Republicans for ‘Sabotaging’ Obamacare by ‘Attacking Navigators’

By Tommy Christopher | December 16, 2013

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is holding hearings in Texas, today, on the role of navigators in the rollout of Obamacare, with a particular focus on stories featured in a series of sting videos by conservative activist James O’Keefe. At Monday’s White House daily briefing, Fox News’ Ed Henry asked Press Secretary Jay Carney about those incidents, and Issa’s hearing. Carney responded with a blistering rebuke to Republicans who are “attacking” navigators in an effort to “sabotage the Affordable Care Act.”

Henry noted that Rep. Issa is “a critic of the administration,” and asked about allegations that “some of the health care navigators that try to help people sign up for the new law, in some cases, they allege, have committed fraud, and told people ‘Lie about your income so you can get better subsidies,’ and that there’s not proper background checks of some of these people to see that they can actually be trusted to guide people. What’s the reaction here?

With an exasperated pause, Carney replied “This is just one more data point in the Republican obsession with sabotaging Obamacare” —

You have to admit Republicans are good at ‘data points.’ If they can get those navigators to encourage fraud on videotape and to give out false information in TV interviews.

[A]dding that “All health care navigators must complete about 20 hours of training, including training on privacy issues,” and receive “regular refresher training.”

Yes, twenty hours of online training, plus ‘refresher training’ would be enough to change an ACORN or SEIU or Planned Parenthood worker’s personal agenda forever.

Carney read the navigator requirements in further detail…

Which took another five seconds.

“Let’s pull back here for a minute,” Carney said. “When Republicans attack navigators, they’re attacking folks like the University of Arkansas, the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida, the Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa, Ascension Health, Ohio Association of Food Banks, and the National Urban League. These are just a few of the organizations that actually hire and supervise these navigators.”

Along with ACORN, and the SEIU and the AFL-CIO and Planned Parenthood. None of whom have any political axes to grind.

“These are people who are engaging in an effort to help Americans, who want health insurance, to get it,” Carney continued. “So I think it’s pretty evident that this is an effort to, in a partisan way, sabotage the Affordable Care Act, that’s in keeping with a long line of efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act.” …

Once again, this so-called Republican sabotage doesn’t hold a candle to the sabotage done to Obama-Care by the lies of Mr. Obama and Ms. Sebelius, and their inept website and their outrageous premiums and deductibles.

Not to mention the willful sabotage of untold millions of pre-Obama-Care insurance policies that people were perfectly happy with.

He concluded with an emotional appeal to “put faces to the name ‘navigators,’ here. These are folks in communities, working for organizations like the ones I discussed, who are doing something very simple, but important: helping their fellow community members get the information they need, if they seek to enroll and purchase health insurance, for many of them, health insurance that they have not had in the past, that’s quality and affordable coverage.”

We think James O’Keefe has already done an excellent job of putting faces to the names of the navigators. Hopefully, the news media will play more of those undercover tapes, as Mr. Carney seems to be requesting.

Poor Carney. Is it possible that we’ve actually wanted this total fraud and lie-filled law all along? Would we be so evil and mean spirited to attempt sabotage? Yes. You don’t have to be a Republican to want this piece of trash to go away!

“Trotskyists show a remarkable ability to turn all debates into life-or-death matters of principle.”

Entryism, or entrism, also known as ‘the French tactic’, is a political tactic whereby members of one political party enter a second, larger, party en masse with the aim of ‘capturing’ the larger party for their viewpoint. It is commonly, although not exclusively, practiced by parties of the extreme left,…but the tactic is disdained by democratic parties and respectable political organisations.

Communists support a health care system that is comprehensive and free with guaranteed access to quality care whenever needed. But a health care system is more than just medical care.
Health care also means prevention of occupational and community environmental hazards and infectious conditions that threaten people?s health. In addition, the lack of affordable housing has become a major public health problem.
A comprehensive health care system means that all health workers in hospitals and community clinics must reflect the populations they are serving?we support the aggressive application of affirmative action programs for equal access to medical, nursing, and other professional training and education programs.
Organized labor, while protecting its own hard-won benefits, is beginning to see the need and necessity to unite with other national and community-based organizations in the fight for a national health system that provides quality, guaranteed health benefits for everyone.
