Caroline Seldom Voted Over Last 20 Years

From the New York Daily News:

Records show Caroline Kennedy failed to cast her vote many times since 1988

December 19th 2008

Caroline Kennedy wants to be the next senator from New York, but her voting record is already spotty, the Daily News has found.

City Board of Elections records show Kennedy has failed to vote in many elections since she registered in the city in 1988 – including votes for the Senate seat she hopes to fill and numerous Democratic faceoffs for mayor.

"It doesn’t speak to a deep-felt commitment to the electoral process," Baruch College political scientist Doug Muzzio said when told of Kennedy’s ballot breakdowns.

Records show Kennedy did not pull the lever for any of her fellow Democrats in city primary races for mayor in 1989, 1993 and 1997 and 2005, which Republicans went on to win three out of four times in the general election.

She was also AWOL for the primary and general elections in 1994, when Sen. Daniel Moynihan was running for reelection to the seat Kennedy hopes to hold…

A review by The News found that of the 38 contested elections since 1988, Kennedy skipped about half, almost all of them primaries

Thursday, Kennedy went to Harlem for a soul-food sitdown with the Rev. Al Sharpton, who, ironically, was Moynihan’s Democratic opponent in 1994.

"I come at this as a mother, as a lawyer, as an author, as an education advocate and from a family that really has spent generations in public service," she said with Sharpton at her side outside Sylvia’s, Harlem’s famed soul-food mecca.

Inside, the two shared a lunch of grilled chicken and collard greens at the same table where Sharpton and Obama had dined in November 2007 – a meeting that was key to his presidential win, Sharpton joked with Kennedy.

"If she believes that," Sharpton quipped, "then I got some other things I can sell her in Harlem." …

Kennedy’s more immediate problem may be explaining her voting record.

Records show she also took a pass on the 2002 gubernatorial primary as well as the general election, when Democrat Carl McCall took on incumbent Republican George Pataki.

Aides Thursday said that prior to 1988, Kennedy was registered in Massachusetts while a student at Harvard University. She later switched her voting address to her mother’s old apartment on Fifth Ave., but apparently fell off the rolls completely sometime in the 1980s.

When she went to reregister in 1988 at her new Park Ave. home, she filled in "1984?", when asked the year she had last registered.

But will she vote ‘present’ in the Senate?

Of course the important thing is that she kissed the Reverend Sharpton’s er ring.

Voting “present” in the Senate seems to be the fast track to being elected President, so why not?

Not voting in the modern era is actually an advantage if you want to run for office.

Obamy showed us that an empty slate and and empty mind is the best possible background. If you never expressed an opinion, then the voters can believe anything they want to believe……as long as the media is doing the hard research to assur the voting public that the candidate is deserving.

Of course, if necessary, the media might make some slight misrepresentations to cover up a thing or two that might hurt their preferred candidate. But nothing as egregious as hiding alliances with terrorists or anti-Americans, or pretending that a candidate who has never done anything in his or her life can lead the country. That would be beyond the pale.

Seeing Mrs. Schlossberg described as “beautiful” everywhere makes me realize that if you are a Kennedy you can be a beautiful person without even being particularly beautiful.

  4. proreason says:

Elsewhere, Ed Kock has urged people to “think of the dna” when it comes to Carolyn.

That gets the thinking cap going. ok. Murder, Alcholism, Rape, Drug Addiction, Wife Beating,. Serial Philandering, Arrogance, World-class misjudgement, Ability to get us into a nuclear war, Ability to get us into another Vietnam, Willing to abandon soldiers on a beach, Profligate spending, Stupidity.

Well then, that proves it. Carolyn is fully qualified to be a Democratic Senator!!

  5. Liberals Demise says:

If you dont vote noone can blame you for anything…..how smart of the entitled!!
Please….by all means, collect your well deserved pay raise as you walk past the unemployed on your way to the office.

As a former NYS Board of Elections intern – I suggest someone from the RNC get a set and look into her initial registration through her “mother’s old apartment in NYC”.

It is flat out illegal. Unless she can verify, through tax records, as in NYC taxes (that special triple tax you get to pay there, been there done that) paid for said year; she violated federal/state election law.

The fact the dolt couldn’t get away from a Lincoln Center fundraiser or Kennedy “outing” to vote pales in comparison to this.

This issue was broguht up in the 90’s for out of state students who attempted to register in state , based on their collge location. The state said “nope, it is not your permanent residence”

I personally devoided voter registrations for 3 motnhs due to this ruling in 1995… along with convicted felons, the “hot button de jour” of voting that still exists today.

    On Caroline Kennedy (D-Camelot):

“The English House of Lords has long been derided as a collection of long-winded, bilious blowhards, the children, grandchildren and fifth cousins, once removed, of noblemen who once did something to curry favor with a long-dead King.

The House of Lords looks like the greatest assemblage of deep thinkers and philosophers the world has ever seen, when compared to the collection of feckless crapweasels who bloviate on the floor of our Senate.”

Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg. There fixed that.

I can’t believe that the msm is so far gone that it is calling Mrs. Schlossberg – Kennedy – to educate exactly the masses who this woman is (most especially just before the special election). . .

I can’t wait for Mrs. Schwarzennegger to begin being referred to as Maria Kennedy perhaps even to the point of Gov Schwarzennegger being referred to as Mr. Kennedy.

    The msm makes me sick.

It is a shame that there isn’t a law that one must vote to be able to run for/hold Public Office. But then we wouldn’t be about to have the wanna be Master of Universe and his Queen of Mean about to assume office – if that was law.

  9. 1sttofight says:

I know people can’t help how they look, But My God , for a 51 year old, she looks like she is fast approaching 70.

I have heard boozing it up a lot will do that.

Well she IS a Kennedy after all…

    • Liberals Demise says:

Unka Teddy showed her how to find the bottom of a fifth of Scotch, the (Kennedy) ol’ fashion way!! Probly showed her how to womanize too!!

  10. Enthalpy says:

As much as many may have loved Caroline as a child, we do not need a legacy Senator to add to our woes. We need intelligence, competence, and insightful leadership to help save this country. Honor might be helpful as well.

    • JohnMG says:

Well they ain’t gonna find it with her!

What has the country come to? We have people with NO money signed onto entitlement programs. And now we have people with ALL KINDS of money and an entitlement MENTALITY lining up for government positions. The only thing that hasn’t changed (except that there are fewer of us) is us saps in the middle who pay for it all!

  11. 12 Gauge Rage says:

Ah the Kennedy clan. Never without scandal, untimely deaths, corruption, and unrepentant for such wrongdoings that would land the average American in jail. There must be a lot of people who owe this clan some favors because I can’t see how they keep getting re-elected to public office.

  12. 12 Gauge Rage says:

It can’t. But apparently in Illinois for the right price it can buy you a vacated senate seat.

  13. wardmama4 says:

Who said money can not buy happiness?

Or if you are a Kennedy – a get out of jail free card (or a dozen).
