Carter Escapes (Hamas?) Bomb Attempt

From Fox New:

Former US President Jimmy Carter, seen here in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, is visiting the battle-scarred Palestinian territory after urging Israel to lift a blockade on the enclave and stop treating its residents like "savages.”

Carter to Obama: Remove Hamas From Terror List

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Former President Jimmy Carter will urge the Obama administration to remove Hamas from the terrorist list, FOX News has learned.

Carter, a chief defender of the U.S.-designated terror group, said Tuesday he will meet with officials in the Obama administration in two days to discuss his latest trip to the Middle East.

Meanwhile, two Palestinian sources told FOX News that the group had discovered two roadside bombs planted near a crossing between Israel and Gaza on a path Carter’s convoy took to meet with the group’s leaders.

Carter was granted special waivers by the U.S. Secret Service allowing him to enter Gaza. Employees of the U.S. executive branch are not allowed into the strip since a roadside bomb killed three U.S. security personnel in 2003…

Carter said he feels personally responsible that American weapons were used to fight in Gaza Strip last year, when Israeli Defense Forces entered the strip to stop the launch of rockets from there into Israel

According to two eyewitnesses, including a 15-year-old boy, the bombs were intended to hit Carter’s vehicle as he exited Gaza. There is some suspicion that Hamas extremists linked to Al Qaeda may be behind the attempt.

The boy told FOX News he saw three Palestinian men planting bombs, four of which were later found near a mound less than a mile from the Israel-Gaza border. The boy said he notified Hamas police, who detonated the bombs and took the three men into custody.

But Hamas aren’t terrorists.

Not at all.

Meanwhile, Reuters is reporting his musings from the Gaza strip:

Carter says Gaza Palestinians treated like animals

Tue Jun 16, 2009

GAZA (Reuters) – Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are being "treated more like animals than human beings," former U.S. president Jimmy Carter said on Tuesday.

On a visit to the enclave, he condemned Israel’s January bombardment of Gaza and its continuing trade blockade, which he said forbids even children’s toys.

"I understand that even paper and crayons are treated as a security hazard," he told Gazans at a local United Nations office. "I sought an explanation of this when I met with Israeli officials and I received none, because there is no explanation."

He ignored a U.S. government ban on dealings with Gaza’s Islamist rulers Hamas and had talks with its leaders

Carter, a Democrat, said he had seen for himself there had been almost no reconstruction in Gaza over the past five months.

"Never before in history has a large community like this been savaged by bombs and missiles and then been deprived of the means to repair itself," he said.

And more from the Deutsche Presse Agentur:

Carter says ‘holding back tears’ inspecting Gaza damage

16 June 2009

GAZA CITY – Former US President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday he was dismayed when inspecting the devastation caused by Israel’s 22-day offensive in Gaza last winter.

I have to hold back tears when I see the deliberate destruction that has been raged against your people,” he told reporters at the destroyed International American School in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, hit in an Israeli airstrike…

Of course what Mr. Carter is saying and doing is beyond anything that can be explained by mere ignorance and naivety.

His rabid anti-Semitism has poisoned his mind and turned him into an enemy of Israel and the United States.

He ignored a U.S. government ban on dealings with Gaza’s Islamist rulers Hamas and had talks with its leaders.

Why hasn’t he been prosecuted?

“Never before in history has a large community like this been savaged by bombs and missiles and then been deprived of the means to repair itself,” Carter said. Of course, Jimmy is so blinded with hate and anti-Semitism that he failed to acknowledge that, speaking of the Palestinians, “Never before in history have a group of refugees like the Palestinians been given everything–even the right to vote–by their avowed enemies, yet repay that generosity with missiles and intifada.”

I hate Carter. I wouldn’t have shed a tear if he’d rolled over that IED that Hamas planted. It’s a shame that good American men in uniform have to find those bombs in their paths instead of traitorous Carter.

    • JohnMG says:

I concur. And does anyone believe for one second that the Secret Service granted him special priveleges on their own authority? Obama will let this treasonous bastard do the dirty work for him. Make no mistake, they are as peas in a pod.

      Right on, JMG.

    Carter is odious.

But he is also obvious, and that limits the threat he poses to humanity.

Obamy is devious and furious at what the world has done to him. He is by far the greater danger to life on earth.

So far! B. Hussein will surpass carter the fool by a long shot I believe.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Pro, you said it a couple of months ago that the shadow will once again be cast on “them jews” and it’s really getting up steam.

I didn’t believe it but I do now.

It’s such a wonderful experience to witness the ugliness of humanity in my lifetime while the liberals, who are not the least bit as their label implies want an overbearing government to make all their decisions for them, to have liberty cast aside in the name of security but without realizing, of course, as the saying goes, that they will end up with neither.

And their ridiculous defense of radical muslims. I lived in Libya as a kid while my dad taught pilots to fly the F-27 for Mobil Oil. We left just before Khadaffi blew up the BOAC VC-10’s on the ramp in Tripoli. At the age of seven I took an interest in the news and trying to understand what they were up to and as the years progressed, learned that there are a huge number of bad people there, and not just due to being labeled by republicans.

I knew years ago that their own system failed and fails them still. Yet their leaders, through maintaining ignorance and not allowing much education, maintain that it’s all the US’s fault.

Bloody shame, that. But I pretty much dismissed any hope of any peace with them at all as 1968 became 1978, through the gas shortages, and then as 1988 rolled around and things only were getting worse. 1998 certainly not much better and then 2001 and I was completely hardened.

Carter is no more a representative of the majority of Americans than a fruit bat. He’s another one who believes that government is the benefactor of good will to all and can repair even a broken heart. And he’s a traitor as well. But alack, alas, we live in a nation that not only embraces such people but empowers them.

Such emotional thinking only serves to get us into more trouble, more often and with higher consequences each time. Why they are so blind, I am completely baffled.

    • proreason says:

Rusty, you have to look at the associations and only consider what he says in light of his background. As we know, he is the biggest liar the country has ever seen.

You can’t find anybody he has associated with his entire life who isn’t anti-semitic. From Wright to Farrakam to a host of Pakistani’s who we know little about, to his advisors in his campaigns, to Rezko, to his current cabinet and advisors, to Carter…..all anti-Semites, and in some cases of a virulent flavor.

Then look at his recent words, which for sure, are toned down as much as possible by multiple layers of contextualizers and triple-talk specialists. He can’t say a single good thing about the people who have done more for Western civilzation than any other, who have suffered more than any others, and who have created more than any others….not a single good word. Meanwhile he praises to the heavens a failed culture that hasn’t created anything the world uses today, crediting them with inventions that were created long prior to Mohammed perverting their heritage, and acting like they are the equivalent of the most brilliant cuture of all time.

The Moron is as much an anti-Semite as Carter, probably moreso.

Israel is in dire peril, because, strong as they are in every respect, they simply can’t have an arms industry capable of holding off a billion people forever. Without US support, they perish.

  3. jobeth says:

That picture says so much. I’m not sure whether they look like him or he looks like them…either way they are all a bunch of thugs…including Carter.

I just don’t get why he can’t see what these Palestinians are about. He’s either stupid or evil…or both.

“two eyewitnesses, including a 15-year-old boy,(said) the bombs were intended to hit Carter’s vehicle ”

He is asking for what he just may well get from his “friends” who he” nearly sheds tears” for. Can’t say he doesn’t deserve it either.

    • Liberals Demise says:

Let them then eat peanut butter!!

    • JohnMG says:

Carter can eat ‘hot lead’ as far as I’m concerned. He should be behind bars at Gitmo, but Barry would send him to Bermuda. (sigh)

    • Right of the People says:

I wish Carter was on the dollar bill.

If he has his way, Oblah-blah will never retire, he wants to be President for Life. If he could only get that pesky 22nd Amendment repealed now.

    • Reality Bytes says:

Now why do you want Carter to be on the dollar bill?

    • Right of the People says:

Only deceased presidents can be on money. Haven’t you ever heard the phrase “Dead Presidents”?

    • JohnMG says:

Well, they’ve been trying to get rid of the one dollar bill for some time now. I can’t think of a better way of doing it.

    • Liberals Demise says:

I believe a duet Dollar bill is in order if they are gonna quit printing it. Jemma and Barri can share it! Of course the room temperature president rule would have to apply!

Take your pick! All legit beverages in the Middle East; I’m certain some unhealthy elements could be added.
I vote for kumis because I like horses.

  6. beautyofreason says:

How many buses and hospitals does Hamas have to target in Israel before Carter “gets it?” How many toddlers should Hamas dress in uniforms and masks with swords, AK-47s, and a copy of the Quran?

How many little kids in Gaza have to dip their hands in fake blood and commemorate the hanging and mutilation of Israeli soldiers before Carter, for a moment, notices the Muslim hatred of Israel that is caused by full on Islamic hatred of a Jewish country – a hatred that will not stop by pressuring Israel to dispense with its own security?

60% of Iranians favor the idea of all Muslims fighting to destroy Israel. No treaty, no two-state, just destruction by members of the religion of peace.

  11. Lurkin_no_mo says:

Never forget….Carter has, but he’s dumber than a rock.
On May 14 1948, the last British forces left Haifa, and the Jewish Agency, led by David Ben-Gurion, declared the creation of the State of Israel, in accordance with the 1947 UN Partition Plan. Both U.S. President Harry S. Truman and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin immediately recognized the new state
Arab League members Egypt, TransJordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq declared war and announced their rejection of the UN partition decision. They claimed the right of self-determination for the Arabs of Palestine over the whole of Palestine.[40] Saudi-Arabia and Sudan also sent forces to participate in the invasion.
UN Secretary General Trygve Lie described this as the first armed aggression which the world had seen since the end of the war”.
The invading Egyptian and Iraqi armies were poorly trained and equipped as the British had feared they would support the Nazis during the Second World War. The Jordanian “Arab Legion” however, was well trained and had aided the British in Palestine. Many Arab Legion forces were still in Palestine when the British left. Arab Legion commanders were high-ranking British officers (who resigned from the British Army in 1948). The Commander-in-Chief was a British General, Glubb Pasha.
The invading Arab armies were initially successful but met far harder Jewish resistance than they expected, causing them to slow their advance. On May 29, 1948 the British initiated United Nations Security Council Resolution 50 and declared an arms embargo on the region. Czechoslovakia violated the resolution supplying the Jewish state with critical military hardware to match the heavy equipment and planes available to the invading Arab states (who were supplied by Britain).
In early June, the UN declared a month-long truce.
Following the announcement of independence, the Haganah became the Israel Defense Forces and the Palmach, Etzel and Lehi were required to join and cease independent existence. During the ceasefire, Etzel attempted to bring in a private arms shipment aboard a ship called “Altalena”. When they refused to unconditionally hand over the arms to the government, Ben-Gurion ordered that the ship be sunk. Several Etzel members were killed in the fighting.
Large numbers of Jewish immigrants, many of them World War II veterans and Holocaust survivors now began arriving, and many joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).[42] When the fighting resumed, Israel gained the upper hand.
Arab supply routes were long and fragile and as the war dragged on they had problems replenishing their ammunition supplies. The Jordanian ‘Arab Legion’, refrained from invading Israeli territory and focused on occupying the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
In March 1949, after many months of battle, a permanent ceasefire went into effect and Israel’s interim borders, later known as the Green Line, were established. By that time Israel had conquered the Galilee and Negev, however the Syrians remained in control of a strip of territory along the Sea of Galilee originally allocated to the Jewish state, the Lebanese occupied a tiny area at Rosh Hanikra and the Egyptians held the Gaza strip and had some forces surrounded inside Jewish territory. The Jordanians had occupied East-Jerusalem and the West Bank.
Following the ceasefire declaration, Britain released over 2,000 Jewish prisoners it was holding on Cyprus and recognized the state of Israel. On May 11, 1949, Israel was admitted as a member of the United Nations.
…..and the Muslims have been trying to do what Hitler couldn’t achieve for the last 60 years.
Leon Uris’s book “Exodus” gives a pretty good description of the birth of Israel. …and his book “Battle Cry” should be must reading for any ex-gyrene.

  12. Lurkin_no_mo says:

I apologize for the long post. I’m not Jewish, but I do support the only democracy in the region.

    • BatK says:

No need to apologize! Nice to see someone who actually knows the history of the region. Also important to note that the Arab League decided NOT to absorb the Arab refugees coming from “Palestine” (never been a sovereign nation… just the name of an area of land originally called that by the Romans in 70 AD when they destroyed the second temple, and the land subsequently got passed around from empire to empire). The Arab League purposefully kept their own “brothers” in refugee camps in order to have pretext for war and to keep them permanently ticked off.

Side note, if you check out Ezra and Nehemiah in the Bible, when the Jews were coming back to the land and rebuilding the what would ultimately become the second temple (530’s BC) they were opposed by Arabs then as well. Nehemiah specifically refers to their three biggest opponents (who incidentally constantly beseeched the king and made up stuff about the Jews): Toviyah, Sanvalat, and “the Arabs” – Nehemiah 2:19-20, 4:7-8, also a guy referred to as “Geshem the Arab” in Nehemiah 6:1… trust me… no matter what some clown may say on a Cairo stage, this conflict goes back a lot more than 60 years…. and the right of the Jewish people to that Land definitely predates any group of Arabs who decided in 1967 to call themselves “Palestinians.”

Carter is so deceived it’s nauseating. How anyone with his lack of common sense could become POTUS is beyond me. I pray for his soul, but can’t imagine a more ignorant person regarding world events.

I don’t want anyone to die and I’m glad he is safe, but I hope God touches this man’s heart so Carter can realize how misguided he has been.

  14. canary says:

Oh, shucks. Maybe Carter thinks he’s the President. Maybe he forgot when he was President, the hijacking and hostage taking, and little middle-eastern children in school taught to hate Americans and circle grenades and bombs to learn how to count. All that money, and he can’t afford medical help he needs.

  15. Confucius says:

    Democrats are like a cartoon.

–Carter laments the poor and helpless Palestinians ==> they plant road bombs to kill him.
–Obama declares the U.S. will reduce its nuclear arsenal ==> North Korea launches a missile.
–Obama says the swine flu is not a big deal ==> WHO declares a pandemic.
–Michelle plants a vegetable garden ==> Obama goes out for a burger, fries and a cigarette.
    –Michelle calls Bo a “crazy” dog ==> well, you know . . . .

And don’t get me started on that howdy doody mother, Hillary. Or that horse-haired freak show, Biden.

Oh, please, please, puullllleeeeease get started. That last bit was the best laugh I’ve had all day. Horse-haired freak show!

Too funny. He does look like he’s been sprayed with ‘Hair-B-Gone’.
