CBS/Politico: ‘Joe The Plumber’ Is Racist

From the DNC’s CBS News and the DNC’s Politico:

Joe: Obama’s ‘tap dance almost as good as Sammy Davis, Jr.’

By Ben Smith

Katie gets the first interview with Joe Wurzelbacher and, like everyone else in America, he talks like a pundit.

“McCain was solid in his performance,” he says. “I still don’t know where he stands,” he says of Obama. “I’m middle class. I can’t have my taxes raised any more.”

He also says he actually isn’t in the bracket where Obama would raise his taxes — but he’s worried that Obama will shift the bracket down.

He also said that, in his encounter with Obama, the Illinois Senator “a tap dance…almost as good as Sammy Davis, Jr.”

Apparently Ms. Couric and Mr. Smith both missed the point that Mr. Wurzelbacher wanted to buy a plumbing business which is reported to cost more than $250,000.

Which would put him in the position of owning one of those small businesses which Mr. Obama says do not exist, but that he is going to increase the taxes on anyway.

But of course such details do not matter. The point of this story is to imply that Mr. Wurzelbacher is a redneck racist.

After all, he compared Mr. Obama (who is only half black) to (a fully black) Sammy Davis, Jr.

And if you think that is puerile, check out some of the enlightened comments to this Politico article from presumptive Obama supporters:

Congratulations to Joe McPlumber on his success. Meanwhile there are millions of Americans without healthcare tonight. There are millions of Americans without groceries. And Mr. Plumber only cares about not having to pay more taxes on his quarter of a million a year income. Excuse me if I don’t shed a tear for him.

**** Joe.

HAHA what a loser.

“I’m in the tax bracket where Obama wouldnt raise my taxes, but i still dont know where he stands” Good riddance, you’re an idiot, joe.

It’s too bad Joe isn’t a non-biased voter, he had a goal in ambushing Obama and now the media will treat him as if he’s an honest representation of most people and will give a fair analysis of the candidates.

Somebody notify Joe that his 5 minutes just ended.

McCain looked really angry. He hates Obama. Obama was calm and presidential. 4-0 Democrats win all 4 debates… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2p2hvQzIPY

If McCain and his campaign thinks he’s gonna win or gain pols points due to this “Joe the pummer” guy comments, they are sadly mistaken. He doesn’t realized when a good man like Obama is trying to help him out. How can he run a business successfully?

joe the plumber is the new sarah palin
Posted By: show me your crack | October 16, 2008 at 12:16 AM

Was he paying attention to the debate? This guy is an idiot. Nice Sammy Davis reference, you moron. RON PAUL supports for BARACK 08.
Posted By: | October 16, 2008 at 12:16 AM

How can he not know where Obama stands? Obama kept having to repeat himself continually on what he intends to do. Democrats are for the working class. Republicans for BIG business. Also it wont matter who is voted in taxes will have be raised how can we lower our national debt. Obama wants the higher income to pay for it because they can afford to pay more then the middle class.

all I know is, joe the plumber apparently makes alot more money than I do! It is hard to feel sorry for him. of course, by McCain’s standards, in which you need to have at least 5 million to be “rich”, i guess joe is barely scraping by…..
Posted By: LibertyMan | October 16, 2008 at 12:17 AM

So “Joe” is the every American? No longer Joe “six pack” but JOe the plumber. Most of us work hard and still do not make over $250, 000 a year. Let’s forget about Joe and focus on McCain wanting to save all those people who got mortgages that they never could afford. He wants to save them with my/our money. While I played by the rules paid my normal mortgage, they bought investments hoping to be on the next episode of “flip this house” and now he wants to renegotiate a better deal than those of us who played fair. Total BS… ohhhh and give a gains tax to them for the money they made while investing while we paid for normal daily life. To them I say, “too bad”.

I fought he would Joe, Uf you wait to get that plumbing business under Obama, no taxes there! You are putting Americans to work! Two years no taxes on your business can go a long way, plus help with the insurance for your workers. I don’t really care about paying taxes, I do care when joe rich hit pays a lot less than I do! More so when he is using my savings through his loans to get even richer!
Posted By: sjv | October 16, 2008 at 12:18 AM

Way to pretend of being an undecided Joe? You are a far better Republican spinmeister than Guliani!
Posted By: medstud | October 16, 2008 at 12:18 AM

are you listening dude? I hope to be in the bracket whose taxes go up, over 250K, otherwise no worries I probably get a cut. Joe, if you can buy into a business making over 250K net, then you get to pay more taxes, oh frickin well. and Sammy Davis Jr, crap, shut up, sounds ugly.
Posted By: | October 16, 2008 at 12:19 AM

Joe the Plummer was probably the a–hole in McCain/Palin’s many rallies yelling “kill him” and “terrorist”. He sounds like a true GOP bigot and is just getting his 15 mins of shame by pretending to be a Independent. Thank goodness America is awake and will not accept anything but Change for 2009 which is Barack & Joe. McCain in the debate looked like a washed up B movie actor with heavy make-up and too much lipstick. McCain is just too old, too angry, too dangerous to be president. The guy has no concept of the economy nor how to fix what his fellow Republicans Bush/Cheney have created for these pass 8 years.

You see, these are the non-hating supporters of the beyond partisan Barack Obama.

Of course this kind of frothing at the mouth hatred isn’t exclusive to the Politico’s comment section.

You can go to any media outlet that allows public comments and you will find the same thing or worse.

The left has turned political discourse into a sewer. This, more than any other factor, will bring about the end of our form of government.

Another drive by media Obama-con, sheesh, when will it stop. Wear your ACORN helmet, chin straps advised.

  2. BillK says:

Isn’t it amazing that such huge swaths of the public have no freaking clue as to how their employers decide whether they will have a job tomorrow or not, or will be hiring more employees?

Nope, it’s more fun to paint them as the enemy and wait for the Government to “do something.”

Perhaps it is time to socialize our economy as soon the Government will be the only employer left.

  3. Liberals Demise says:

Is everyone with a bald head a NAZI now? According to the half honkey and his racist wife…..they are!!
If Hussien gets in the Whiteyshouse, be ready to see sheets and cardboard in the windows!! They be puttin’ da peoples house in da hood!

  4. Steve says:

The news media really are shameless liars.

The ABC News reader at the top of the hour just said (paraphrasing):

‘Joe the Plumber’ said he was making under $250,000 a year, so he would actually get a tax break under Barack Obama.

  5. flahute says:

“Apparently Ms. Couric and Mr. Smith both missed the point that Mr. Wurzelbacher wanted to buy a plumbing business which is reported to cost more than $250,000.

Which would put him in the position of owning one of those small businesses which Mr. Obama says do not exist, but that he is going to increase the taxes on anyway.”

Apparently the writer of the sentences above don’t understand the difference between “worth”, “revenue”, and “income”.

A business that costs $250K may not generate that much in revenue in a given year, must less that much income. Revenue does not equate to income. Income = Revenue – Expenses.

So a business with revenue of $250,000 may have expenses of $200,000 (payroll, rent, equipment, etc.); leaving income of only $50K … a business with income under $50K would not have taxes raised under the Obama plan.

A business with $500,000 in revenue and only $200,000 in expenses would have income of $300,000, and may experience higher taxes.

A business with $2,000,000 in revenue, and $1,800,000 in expenses would only have income of $200,000, and thus would not have taxes raised under the Obama plan.

  6. VMAN says:

Hello everybody socialism is alive and well in the USA and has been for some time. God bless Joe the plumber. I left my trade years ago. I live in Florida and when I was a boy my father provided a variety of construction services without the first license. When I left the construction business (by the way I worked by myself) I had to have a state certification, I had to take continuing education classes each year, I had to carry a workman’s comp policy at $1000.00 a year that didn’t cover me and I had no employees, I had to keep detailed engineering on everything I did, of course I had to pay a Federal tax just to conduct business and the list goes on. When the government gets that involved with a little guy like me who just wanted to work by himself and offer a good service to me that is socialism. Maybe the government didn’t own my business but they might as well have. Contrary to popular belief big business doesn’t mind socialism if it means squeezing out the little guy. God bless Joe the plumber.

  7. VMAN says:

Oh I forgot something. Anytime the government says a new law or regulation is for the public safety or for you good or especially if it is for the children bend over a take a firm grasp of your ankles.

  8. 1sttofight says:

flahute, Uh when did Obama state whether he would tax gross or net?

  9. sheehanjihad says:

if you think government was intrusive, corrupt incompetent and ineffective…..just wait until January 21st. We will witness the virtual implosion of Democracy….with the power mad socialists who have successfully infested Congress. WE are in for a very very rough time. Until they consume themselves….in four years, we will get our country back. Too bad, and I mean too bad we cant make these people pay for what they did.

  10. BillK says:

Don’t forget it’s not just January 21; recall Clinton proved that you can get away with retroactive tax increases, so I fully expect Obama to do the same.

  11. pinandpuller says:

I think that we need to get South Africans to start protesting our treatment by liberals.

  12. BigOil says:

Interesting how Joe the Plumber has been more extensively vetted by the MSM in 24 hours than BO has been in 2 years.

  13. 1sttofight says:

    Good Point BigOil.

  14. Lipstick on a PIAPS says:

Man, if they think Joe the Plumber is racist I can hardly wait to see the Lame stream medias reaction on election night! C’mon racists of the Country, UNITE! ROFLMAO Bradley effect: here we come! ;-)

  15. texaspsue says:

“Man, if they think Joe the Plumber is racist…..”

Uh oh! What’s that make me? I made the same statement, “BO’s tap dancing”, the night of the Debate. Until SJ point it out, I didn’t know the term WAS considered racist. I always thought the expression, “tap dancing”, meant that someone was avoiding the issues. Silly me.

Sheesh! I have got to get my hands on one of those Manuals with the acceptable PC words that we can use in our vocabulary before it’s too late. :-)

Joe the Plumber represents Middle America, he is symbolic of what we could face under a BO Administration. The MSM and Liberal reaction to him is disgusting and unfair. (I hope they keep it up though as it IS waking many people up and it IS helping McCain.)

  16. Vagent says:

How do you like that? The media investigates Joe the Plumber and NOT Obama! Media BIAS?

  17. GoldenText38 says:

NOTE TO BEN SMITH: It would be somewhat prudent to check the background on your own information.

    To your quote:
“The point of this story is to imply that Mr. Wurzelbacher is a redneck racist.
After all, he compared Mr. Obama (who is only half black) to (a fully black) Sammy Davis, Jr.”

Sammy Davis Jr. was half-black as well. His mother was a Puerto Rican named Elvira Sanchez. One of his famous lines in Vegas was, “I’m Jewish, half-colored and half-Puerto Rican. When I move into a neighborhood, I wipe it out!”

Where does this leave your claims to racism now?

  18. wytammic says:

Is everyone with a bald head a NAZI now?

Ummm …. duh!!! Well, not counting black bald black people. ;)

  19. wytammic says:

Because everyone knows that only white people can be racist. Right?
