Chavez To US: “Go To Hell, Gringos! Go Home!”

From his fans at Reuters:

Venezuela’s Chavez says "gringos go to hell"

January 21, 2007

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday told the U.S. government to "go to hell" after it questioned his plan to seek special powers to legislate by decree as part of his self-styled socialist revolution.

Chavez, a Cuba ally re-elected by a landslide in December, this month launched a broad campaign to consolidate power by nationalizing key industries, seeking expanded executive powers and pushing for unlimited presidential re-election.

A State Department spokesman on Friday said Chavez’s reform plans have caused "some concern," describing the proposal allowing presidents to rule by decree as "a bit odd" in a democracy.

"That is a sacrosanct legal authority of Venezuela, go to hell gringos! Go home! Go home!" Chavez said during his weekly Sunday broadcast. "We’re free here, and every day we’ll be more free."

Venezuela’s legislature this week is expected to fully approve the Enabling Law that would give Chavez 18 months to decree legislation.

The former soldier has said he would use the expanded powers to end the autonomy of the nation’s central bank, create a national police force and boost state control over the nation’s oil industry, which provides around 11 percent of U.S. oil imports.

State Department spokesman Tom Casey on Friday said the legislation by decree proposal was "a sovereign right of Venezuela but certainly … a bit odd in terms of a democratic system."

Chavez also plans to reform the nation’s constitution, rewritten in 1999 on a campaign Chavez himself led, to boost state control over the economy and remove a two-term limit for presidents.

Chavez in 2001 decreed a package of 40 laws that paved the way for a sweeping land reform initiative and higher taxes for oil companies. The move galvanized the country’s fledgling opposition, which accused Chavez of authoritarianism and staged a botched coup six months later.

The government says previous Venezuelan administrations also used the Enabling Law, though opposition leaders say they reserved the law for emergency measures rather than controversial reforms.

Chavez, who last year called President Bush "the devil" during a U.N. speech, frequently lambastes U.S. government officials and describes the United States as a decadent empire.

The United States has called him a negative force for the region and criticized his close relationship with U.S. foes including Cuba, Iran and Syria.

Of course "gringo" is a racial epithet.

Hopefully the UN or some other international body will bring Mr. Chavez up on charges for his hate crime.

“The former soldier has said he would use the expanded powers to end the autonomy of the nation’s central bank. . .”

    What does that mean, really?

  2. DEZ

Hugo is a complete idiot, Most bullies are.
His primitive brain barely emits enough energy to keep him breathing,
Unfortunately he is a position to be dangerous, Just not so much as he believes.
But I think he means the central bank will no longer be self governing, He will take control.

  3. Warmonger Infidel

The former soldier? Let’s see…..how many wars has venezuela been in, in the past 100 years, and more importantly, how many have they won? He’s not a soldier because soldiers are usually people of honor. He’s a thug, a street thug member of a gang that has stolen venezueal from the people.

As a “soldier” he would do well to remember what the Brits did to the Argentinians in the Falklands. South American bully dictatorships do not fair well in conflicts with northern hemisphere countries.

We are probably witnessing the implementation of decisions made months ago. The problem for Chavez is that conditions have changed. He is going to make some rather draconian changes at just the time to get hit with a triple whammy. His oil production is in decline. The revenue from what oil is produced is declining with the world price of oil. And he is pissing off his largest customer … the US.

What I believe is really going on is this:

Iran needs refined oil products. They have just announced a joint refinery project in Venezuela. Venezuela is going to be Iran’s refined product supplier in exchange for nuclear technology from Iran. Do some googling around and you might also discover that Hezbollah has become active in Venezuela too.

Basically Chavez is on his way to becoming an Iranian puppet regime. I really don’t think this is what the people of Venezuela really want and they are going to suffer for it economically.

“….to rule by decree….” echoes of Pelosi.

Like Ms. Rodham, yet another hero of socialism who acquires dictatorial power to make their system work ‘for the people’.

Every enemy is organizing about us.

    Damn them all.

As reported in the Washington Times:

    The following quote:
It has also been reported that the gold reserves have been removed from the Central Bank.

Question, was the gold ‘removed’ from the central bank before, or after Chavez took control, and where did it go?

    Further, the article reports:
Increasingly, Mr. Chavez uses the massive oil revenues the country receives, as well as other government revenues, as his own private piggy bank.

    Is anyone surprised?

I bet he’s sleeping on top of millions of “filthy gringo” U.S. dollars, just like Saddam was….what a sweet guy…

  8. Nimblicity

Venezuela isn’t Cuba, and Hugo may not have the nine lives of his quasi-feline idol Castro.

He’s going to wind up sleeping on top of his eviscerated entrails, either once we find ourselves the collective guts to remove his, or else whenever his new-found Islamofascist buddies find him too self-interested to serve their purpose further.

Yammer on, Senor Boca Grande. It’ll just make it that much more satisfying when the long quiet follows…I promise to buy exactly one gallon of Citgo gas when you “retire” to the Dead Dictator’s Home (though not one ounce till then).
