Chemical WMD May Have Been In Rebel Hands In 2012

First we have this from a memory deficient Associated Press:

Kerry: Chemical arms use in Syria has consequences

By MATTHEW LEE and JULIE PACE | August 27, 2013

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry says there is "undeniable" evidence of a large-scale chemical weapons attack in Syria, with intelligence strongly pointing to Bashar Assad’s government — a claim Assad calls "preposterous."

Is it just as undeniable as global warming? Or the threat to all our embassies a couple of weeks ago?

Kerry said Monday that international standards against chemical weapons "cannot be violated without consequences." …

We seem to recall that Iraq’s Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons on civilians (the Kurds). Where was Mr. Kerry’s outrage then?

In fact, we even seem to recall that Mr. Kerry vehemently opposed the idea of the US helping rebels against any regime. No matter how oppressive. Such as the Sandinistas in Nicaragua.

But that was then, and this is Obama.

"What is before us today is real and it is compelling," Kerry said. "Our understanding of what has already happened in Syria is grounded in facts." …

Facts that are seared, seared in his mind.

Officials stopped short of unequivocally stating that Assad’s government was behind the attack. But they said there was "very little doubt" that it originated with the regime, noting that Syria’s rebel forces do not appear to have access to the country’s chemical weapons stockpile…

BS. The truth is we have no way of knowing what chemical weapons the rebel forces have access to.

A flashback from Foreign Policy Magazine:

Panetta: We’ve Lost Track of Some Syrian Chemical Weapons

Posted By Kevin Baron Friday, September 28, 2012

The U.S. has lost track of some of Syria’s chemical weapons, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Friday, and does not know if any potentially lethal chemicals have fallen into the hands of Syrian rebels or Iranian forces inside the country.

“There has been intelligence that there have been some moves that have taken place. Where exactly that’s taken place, we don’t know.” Panetta said, in a Pentagon press briefing…

Panetta’s statement follows reporting that Syrian rebels claim to have taken control of a military base that contains chemical weapons.

“But with regards to the movement of some of this and whether or not they’ve been able to locate some of it,” he said of U.S. intelligence, “we just don’t know.” …

But now we are ready to go to war on the side of the (Al Qaeda controlled) rebels because we know for a fact that only the regime had access to these chemical weapons.

This our very own US State Department gone utterly insane down in the fever swamps of Foggy Bottom ginning up reasons for them to wage war on other nations for their own agendas and reasons.

Assad – cruel tyrant that he is – gets no value from gassing his own civilians instead of the rebels. Rebels armed, trained and paid for by … guess who … The US State Department ..
