Cillizza: Romney’s Bain Problem Is Unsolvable

From Chris Cillizza, at the Washington Post:

Mitt Romney’s unsolvable Bain problem

Chris Cillizza | 07/16/2012

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney continues to struggle to get out from under questions regarding just when he departed from his job at Bain Capital. And there’s reason to believe that he won’t be able to solve his Bain problem anytime soon.

There is nothing unsolvable about Romney’s Bain problem, because there is no problem.

Politics 101 says that when your campaign is bleeding — and Romney’s camp is bleeding right now — the best way to stop it is to get as many facts out as quickly as possible and then insist that it’s a dead issue and refuse to answer questions on it moving forward.

Politics 101 says that it’s a lot harder to get the facts out when the opposition party controls the news media. Romney has put the facts out, but they are ignored by our one party media.

That won’t likely work for Romney because of the seeming contradictions about when he left the companyand the exotic nature of his financial life.

This is a perfect example of a professional propagandist at work.

While most independent fact checkers agree that Romney had no involvement in Bain’s day-to-day operations after 1999, the fact that he was listed on Securities and Exchange Commission documents as chairman and president of Bain creates a fuzziness that allows President Obama’s campaign to continue to hammer away on the issue.

It doesn’t matter if the charges are untrue, as long as someone can fuzz them up..

Which appears to be the current role of our news media in the age of Obama.

That fuzziness was furthered over the weekend by Romney campaign senior adviser Ed Gillespie who said that the former Massachusetts governor had “retroactively” retired in 1999.

Again, this is asinine. By now every grownup sentient being knows that Romney gave up all of his control of Bain when he left to run the Olympics. And that his ‘temporary leave’ became a permanent retirement from Bain.

The news media knows this. Even Chris Cillizza knows this. But he has his duty to the Obama campaign to repeat every one their lies in the hope that some will stick with the hopelessly stupid and/or uninformed.

Because of the the complex nature of Romney’s finances — and his on again, off again relationship with Bain — there is no simple way for him to put it in his rearview mirror

These Bain maniacs, these Bainiacs, remind me of the ‘Truthers’ who said President Bush was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Even though every single piece of their ‘evidence’ have been thoroughly and repeatedly refuted.

But the Truthers keep repeating their charges because they know that a certain segment of the population will believe them. And that is exactly the same reason the Obama campaign and his minions in the news media like Chris Cillizza are repeating these lies now.

And to think how the news media mock Birthers. (A term coined by your humble author, for the record.)

This ‘Bain’ stuff is just media churn. Some squirrel will stroll in front of the dog media and they’ll run off after that for a while…whenever it comes along. For now, Bain is what they chase, as it is the narrative.

I can think of about 5.7 trillion reasons not to vote for nerobama and we still can’t find anybody that ever saw him at school. How much is the DNC paying you?

One person’s statements does not a party make. By quoting Rick Perry, you simply are indicating that all conservatives are alike. Plus, by disputing this post of yours, you wish to get us into a closed-end loop where you hope to run rings around any or all of us.

    Not gonna bite.

    You’re not welcome here.

You are not providing intellectual debate but instead trying to cause trouble. If you came here and read anything people post at all, you would realize that your posts are just garbage and we’re not interested in playing with you.

I can go to websites and cut and paste things from there to here as well, assuming you’re a person and not a post-bot but then, with a flaming liberal like you, what’s the difference?

Go away. Steve will probably delete your garbage anyhow before too long.

By virtue of the fact that both of your posts were done at 8:08, and trying to account for how long it takes to type such lengthy crapola, I would have to say you’re simply a troll, at-the-ready with canned items ready to post in lightning-quick fashion. You’re neither a thinker nor a doer. Just a paid troll making your wage going to conservative websites trying to incite unrest and hopefully both get us angry and/or cause us to re-think our position on the idiot in the oval office at the present time.

All of your talking points in your first post have been debunked and logically disassembled over the past several days, weeks, months and years. Hope you can make it to the the food stamp line this week and are able to get your socialist money from obamao’s stash.

GetBackJack, My question too, aside the suspicion Chris Cillizza wrote what Obama told him to write.

Chris Chillizza is an MSNBC Political Analyst, a blogging shock jock who owes Obama this kind of garbage. Chris Chillizza is could never be a investigative reporter, because he’d never take the time away from being a Michael Moore who only has to open his mouth and blubber.

I guess the Washington Post like FOX news which is has changed to more entertainment with FOX five when they already had their comedy hour the Red Eye is getting caught up in the world of irresponsible journalism.

Chris Chillizza doesn’t want to think or do any real study; easier for him to do brown nosing, hoping to be the next spokesman like the spokesman whose name I can’t even remember before Obama’s present. That idiot that gave Obama his lucky tie after Obama spent an hour trying them all in the mirror.

Chris Chillizza most likely spends his time at the local bar drinking beer and couldn’t add 2 plus 2.
