Cindy Sheehan Revives Anti-US Efforts

From USA Today:

Activist Cindy Sheehan revives anti-war efforts

By Oren Dorell, USA TODAY
March 15, 2010

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is restarting her campaign against wars in Iraq and Afghanistan today, setting up tents and teaching protest seminars near the Washington Monument.

Dubbed "Camp OUT NOW," the protest is geared to pressure President Obama and Democrats, whom Sheehan says have abandoned the anti-war cause now that they have control of the White House and Congress.

"Obama said there’d be one combat battalion coming home per month, and that has not happened," Sheehan says. "We still have significant troops in Iraq, and he’s ramped up in Afghanistan.

"I don’t think this is what people understood they were voting for. I think they were voting for a change." …

Sheehan’s group, Peace of the Action, will hold seminars on grass-roots organizing and civil disobedience near the Washington Monument, leading up to a peace march Saturday. Sheehan says the group plans to "start doing actions" on March 22, although she wouldn’t discuss details or how long they might last. Possible actions include blocking Washington, D.C., intersections and offices in Congress, she said.

"We’re demanding that we see some movement in the direction toward peace and bringing our troops home, and we’re determined to stay there until that happens, so it’s an indefinite thing," she says…

She was embraced by the political action group Moveon.org, which had raised $2 million to air anti-war commercials before the 2004 elections and then launched numerous vigils on her behalf in 2005.

In 2007, Sheehan announced that she was leaving the peace movement, saying that "Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives" by continuing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2008, Sheehan ran for Congress against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. She lost with 17% of the vote.

Since then, she has hosted her own radio show, dubbed Cindy Sheehan’s Soap Box, and traveled to Venezuela to meet with anti-U.S. President Hugo Chávez. On her blog, she has praised Chávez as a leader who — unlike her U.S. homeland, she says — has launched no "foreign wars of aggression."

Now she’s back, targeting Democrats as she once targeted Republicans. She notes that the peace movement has lost much of its steam since Bush left office.

"The energy was for electing Democrats. Now the energy is for keeping the Democratic majority," she says. "Even though we’re still in Iraq and Afghanistan and now in Pakistan and Yemen."

Long time members will recall that S&L effectively began by chronicling the adventures of Ms. Sheehan.

Recently, however, we have become more reluctant to post about her, given her obvious mental problems.

Still, she is right to point out how quickly the Democrats (and our Democrat controlled media watchdogs) have dropped their anti-war stance now that Mr. Obama in charge of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    Sounds like penis envy.

    Apologies in advance.

Oh yeah, I missed that, Camp Pull Out Now.

      RB, you be OK.

IMHO she is disgracing her hero son’s memory, we’ll remember her more than her son, sorry to say.

I feel so much better now that she’s on “our side”. :-\

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t.

But in Cindy’s case, she always feels like a nut.

Even so, I give her credit for consistency.

She apparently falls into the committed nutter category, as opposed to the kill-the-golden-goose-to-make-myself-wealthy category.

What’s really funny is that like some American Idol (Idle) reject, she has garnered more press ink than the Red Sox World Series win. How she keeps popping up in the news can only be an indication of how badly bolted on the axles of the newsmedia wagon can be. To giver her such credibility is to claim that Vodka has vitamins and that bloodletting is a sound medical practice.

    • Right of the People says:

Vodka doesn’t have vitamins, but bourbon does that’s why I drink Wild Turkey.

It’s funny to see the left turning on itself. Maybe they’ll all pull their lower lips up over their heads and swallow. We could only be so lucky.

Obama should get us oil, oil, & more oil.

the SNAG is at it again….and yawn….predictable cookie cutter methods of protesting a position that about six percent of liberals and leftists support.

It appears that she has been released from re hab gain….sniffing bus fumes and making key rings out of dead squirrel skulls just wasnt cutting it.

Plus, the media really needed comic relief from the lunacy they have been convering and being forced to support….so they call up the snag, and she will do everything in her arsenal of ignorant stupidity to feed them news bites until something newsworthy happens, and she will have to thumb a ride home. In a dump truck.

She still owes New Orleans citizens the 600 thousand plus she gathered as relief for Katrina but instead sent it to her freedom fighters to better kill Americans. A grifting saddle leather faced lying and curiously mentally challenged woman who craves her fame back.

She will get it. People need a laugh…and she will supply amusement in spades….with her empty rhetoric and false assumptions that her opinion somehow carries weight. The only weight she carries is in her coal barge thighs that are covered with what seems to be a film of chewed bubble gum……

She’s a lying thief, a grifting con artist, and a self loathing miserable husk of a human being. But she will entertain everyone with her rampant ignorant statements….so stay tuned. I cant wait. I didnt want to change my years old name!

  6. MinnesotaRush says:

So .. SJ .. tell us how ya’ really feel about ol’ Cindy. Don’t hold back, buddy. :-)

“… her coal barge thighs that are covered with what seems to be a film of chewed bubble gum……”

    Your “wordsmithing” is wonderful. :-)

i attended high school with cindy sheehans son casey and am still a resident of our hometown. i have to say it saddens me to see how this woman cannot make peace with the fact that her son enlisted in the military and and that losing your life in service is unfortunately a risk that you take. as a mother of two small children i can understand and empathize with her pain but she needs to stop blaming others for her sons death. we mourn our fallen soldiers but this is the reality of becoming a serviceman. it sounds silly but the line in ‘legends of the fall’ is so true- “he chose to become a soldier and soldiers die’

    • proreason says:

      Thanks for joining.

It’s a tragic thing, obviously, to lose a child.

But Cindy went off the deep end a long time ago. Her son’s death either drove her insane, or she had a propensity toward insanity anyway. I suspect the latter.

  8. Liberals Demise says:

So that’s what a bullhorn with a douche bag looks like.

  9. Mithrandir says:

Cindy Sheehan has more credibility than the media who covered her, when she was a tent-hobo in Crawford Texas.

She has remained consistent, while it is clear the media and the left wing just used her for political gain, then dumped her once the Democrats got in office. Sheehan was just a ‘useful idiot’ for their machine, and now she realizes the fakeness and falsehoods of the American left.

  10. U NO HOO says:

I just thought of Sgt. Bilko.

  11. jrmcdonald says:

I guess she could camp out by obama’s home in Chicago, but it’s not really a safe neighborhood…

  12. Reality Bytes says:

Lest we forget – here a link to Bronze Star recipient, Casey Sheehan. What a pity about his mother.
