Cleveland Officials Launch ACORN Probe

From Fox News:

Cleveland Election Officials Launch Probe of ACORN

Cuyahoga County, Ohio, election officials on Monday called on the prosecuting attorney to investigate whether the community organizing group ACORN signed up people to vote multiple times.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Election officials in Ohio’s most populous county have called on the prosecuting attorney to investigate alleged voter registration fraud by the community organizing group ACORN.

The bipartisan Cuyahoga County Board of Elections voted unanimously Monday to ask prosecutor Bill Mason to investigate four incidents of people signing multiple voter registration forms at the request of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform.

One of those voters, 19-year-old Freddie Johnson, told FOX News that he signed 73 voter registration forms over a five-month period

The Cleveland resident said he was trying to help paid ACORN solicitors collect signed registrations, and he did not understand the proper voter-registration procedures.

The group was “trying to get signatures so they can make their money, and I was trying to help them,” Johnson said…

Johnson, one of four people subpoenaed to testify over duplicate registrations in Cleveland on Monday, told FOX News that the sheriff’s department had assured him that the investigation was aimed at ACORN solicitors, and that he would not face criminal charges.

During the board meeting, Johnson said he would sometimes get approached by six or seven ACORN voter-registration solicitors while waiting for a bus. Other canvassers stood 10 feet away while a solicitor approached him, he said.

“They never told me I couldn’t stop signing them,” said Johnson. He said the solicitors never  indicated that he was doing something unlawful.

A second new voter, Christopher Barkley, a pizza delivery man from Cleveland, is also facing questioning for allegedly registering to vote 10 to 15 times through ACORN.

Barkley said he was approached multiple times by ACORN workers while sitting in a public square.  He said the group’s solicitors told him they were getting paid by the name to sign up voters.

“I’d be like, ‘No, I’m already registered,'” Barkley said.

“Then they just asked me again, like, ‘I need a job, I’m just trying to hold on to a job. So would you sign it for me? I need 25 or more. I need a certain amount of them.’ So me being the kind-hearted person, I say, ‘Yeah.’

“I didn’t know that I’d have to be in here for this,” Barkley said.

Of course all of this attention on ACORN is too little too late.

2004 was probably the last time we will have anything even remotely close to a fair election.

If Hussein Obama is elected expect this bunch of criminals to expand—further undermining the credibility of our democratic process. Obama is a form of pestilence and must be defeated. He and his ilk pose a clear and present danger to this country—I’m holding my nose and voting for Mac, for the alternative will take the country even farther down the path of ruin than the “bailout bill”. We must hold the federal government accountable and do it soon—it’s almost too late.

Well, next they’ll be saying it’s only a crime if they voted 73 times…..

Meanwhile over at CBS the liberals are jumping all over Palin and the ethics probe like she was Al Capone, all for someone who deserved to be fired anyways.

And Obama/Biden, just crickets ticking away in the evening, nothing to see here, move on………..

    Fraud, thy name is Obama.

Is the justice dept. taking a vacation in the other nine states that have alleged voter fraud as well? Why isn’t this being shown on any other channels other than Fox?

I just watched a story on PBS (I know, sorry) about Nixon and the downfall. The actual lies that brought him down in the end pale in comparison to those that B. Hussein obama has foistered on the American people so far. Imagine how deep they will get after he cheats his way into office ( and when hell freezes over) come Nov. 6th?

Anonymoose, I’ve already seen comments to that effect on other blogs. Like, (1) it’s not “voter fraud” until they actually try to vote. Registering to vote 72 times is no big deal unless you go vote that many times. (2) ACORN has turned in (some number) of fraudulent voter registrations, so it’s a-ok…they’re watching out for us, see? /sarc

Could this explain what I think may be skewed poll results? Maybe when one person says “I wanna ‘bama!” they count his opinion 73 times?

Watching the acorn presser on FOX online. I can not believe the acorn people are trying their best to play the victim in this. The registrars are just picking on them. Boo Fricking Hoo.

Jennifer Brunner Ohio’s Secretary of STate was found by the court to not be in compliance with the law on two occasions: This is the same state that people registered multiple times, including the young man who registered 72 times, sure the extra registrations won’t get thru *extreme sarcasm* This is also where Obama paid them $832,598 to “get out the vote”

“A unanimous Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday, Oct. 2, ordered Brunner to tell county boards of elections not to reject applications for absentee ballots because of an unmarked box next to next to a statement that the applicant is a qualified elector.

“No vital public purpose or public interest is served by rejecting electors’ applications for absentee ballots because of an unmarked check box next to a qualified-elector statement,” the Supreme Court decision said.

The absentee ballot applications in question were supplied by Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign. Other application forms for absentee ballots don’t include the boxes.”

“Court Finds Brunner in Violation of Federal Law
Secretary of State appeals ruling, fights effort to validate registrations

(Columbus) – A federal court ruled tonight that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner violated federal election laws by not taking adequate steps to validate the identity of newly registered voters.

The ruling from U.S. District Court Judge George C. Smith called the identification breakdown “a serious problem” and ordered Brunner to immediately comply with federal requirements to match voter registration data with the information in the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Social Security Administration databases. The court accused Brunner of failing to provide county election administrators with “an effective way to access and review mismatches.” She immediately appealed the ruling. “

I don’t believe anything will be done to stop ACORN. They already have a history and our illegitimate government not only allows them to register voters but welcomes their illegal activity. We now live in age where our politicians operate above the law and the only corruption is whatever might threaten their power. I’m not sure what good it will do but if you would like to sign a petition to stop ACORN link here .

In my state of Maryland, ACLU representatives are storming the Bastilles today to register prisoners (this is our last day to register). This really earns them the American Criminal Liberties Union title that some of us refer to them by. Meanwhile , our Attorney General Doug Gansler “encouraged county sheriffs and jail wardens in a letter last month to support voter drives by the ACLU”. Gansler is known to be very political for an AG but this is outright partisan politics at that.
