Climate Activists Shut Down Power Station

From the Communist front Indymedia:

Climate Activists Bring Powerstation Operations To A Halt

13 Apr 2007

Climate activists from around the East Midlands managed to stop some operations at Radcliffe on Soar Power Station after climbing onto convear belts and dumper trucks inside the plant yesterday. The power station is located just outside Nottingham and is the 3rd biggest emitter of CO2 emissions in the UK. The owner of the plant, E-On, said operations ran as normal and that their environmental record is good with aiming to be a clean coalfired power station. A spokeswoman for the protesters said: “Putting pressure on individuals to reduce emissions when companies like E.ON are profiting from this polluting industry is obscene and irresponsible. We should not be burning coal in the 21st century.”

The blockade lasted for 3 hours and 11 people were arrested all of which were later released. The action was part of ‘Spring Into Action’ - a week of workshops, entertainment and actions around the issue of Climate Change in Nottingham. Activists from around the UK came together to get clued up on practical solutions to climate change. From workshops on bike maintenance, local food production, community compost projects and strawbale building to concerts and performances, it was an action packed week. For the occasion and old lace factory was occupied and turned into a climate action centre.

‘Spring into Action’ has been organised by Eastside Climate Action, a group made up of local people and groups inspired by the Camp for Climate Action. The week is all about inspiring, educating and empowering people to start making changes in their own lives and demonstrating practical alternatives, local projects and local campaigns in action. ‘It is about changing our lifestyles, but also inspiring collective action to create the wider social change that is needed to deal with climate change. Climate change is the greatest threat humanity has ever faced, and we are already feeling its effects. Change is coming whether we like it or not. We need to make these changes sustainable and equitable.’

Eco-terrorism — coming to a power plant near you.

Climate change is the greatest threat humanity has ever faced, and we are already feeling its effects. Change is coming whether we like it or not. We need to make these changes sustainable and equitable.’

And yes, the fight against “global warming” is just another name for communism.

“Climate change is coming” Duh. It’s called weather. It changes. Short term, medium, and long. Sometimes very long. It used to be funny to watch these morons (or is that Gorons?) Now they have coerced business and government into stupid and expensive policies. That’s not funny. Particularly as it won’t do any good. When the temperatue does go down, they will take credit for it. Whoopie. SG, these articles are making a big dent in my beer budget. I may have to plant some trees (not pine, of course) and sell carbon credits to finance the suds. Yo! Al?

Some of you old folks like me may remember how unusual weather used to be blamed on [take your pick] nukes, space program, landing on the moon, Russian weather projects, UFO’s, etc.

Now we know the truth, It is caused by an infestation of Liberal Moonbats.

“Global warming” - and now the new term “global climate change” - is another form of communism. The masses - those who either can’t afford carbon offsets (or hybrid cars, or solar paneling for their house, etc.) and those who question or oppose global warming theory - would be the ones who’d suffer with rolling blackouts, limited food supplies, job loss (which would happen if we ratified Kyoto - and by the hundreds of thousands), and other inconveniences.

Meanwhile, Al Gore and cohorts would be living high off the hog, feeling morally righteous for quelling our power usage and “saving” the planet.

Be prepared to fight this. Or get ready to live in a cave.
