Climate Change Gets 2X Money As Border Security

From the Daily Caller:

Global warming gets nearly twice as much taxpayer money as border security

By Michael Bastasch | October 28, 2013

New estimates show the federal government will spend nearly twice as much fighting global warming this year than on U.S. border security.

The White House reported to House Republicans that there are 18 federal agencies engaged in global warming activities in 2013, funding a wide range of programs, including scientific research, international climate assistance, incentivizing renewable energy technology and subsidies to renewable energy producers.

Global warming spending is estimated to cost $22.2 billion this year, and $21.4 billion next year. At the same time, the federal government will spend nearly $12 billion on customs and border enforcement this year.

Wait until Obama learns about this! Boy, will heads roll then.

Just kidding. Of course, this reflects Mr. Obama’s priorities perfectly. Except he would like to cut our spending on border security to zero.

Obama’s climate agenda has attracted criticism from congressional Republicans who have been hammering the administration over the accountability and transparency of its global warming efforts.

Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Committee have been calling on the heads of major federal agencies to testify on global warming activities. So far, only the heads of the Energy Department and the Environmental Protection Agency have opted to testify in front of the House.

“With billions of dollars currently being spent annually on climate change activities, Congress and the public should understand the scope of what the federal government is doing, how the billions of dollars are being spent, and what it will accomplish,” said Kentucky Republican Rep. Ed Whitfield.

“Anyone who believes the committee ought to be focusing its attention on climate change related issues should be standing with us to get these answers.” …

Oh, come on. The answer is obvious. Obama has been funneling money to his cronies in the ‘green tech’ industry and the unions and his foot soldiers in the environmental movement. With the certain expectation that some of that money and manpower will be kicked back to the Democrat Party when they need it come election time.

There is no mystery here. It has been going on for five and a half years.

How can any of these department heads refuse to testify before congress? Doesn’t congress have oversight duties granted them by the constitution? These people aren’t presidential advisors, they work for us, not him!

How about using that damn subpoena power you idiots have!

    • Nozy, when oh when are you going to admit that the Republican Party exists as the Ruling Elites’ Court Jesters?

    • GetBackJack,
I’m an optimist man. I have to try to see the what little positive there might be. If I allow myself to see things as they truly are, the press will be including my middle name in press reports.

Should be ZERO. Be nice to see Republican’s defund these boondoggles. But they are still lacking the testicular fortitude to do anything neat that. Hoping one day they find ‘em.
