Clinton Compares Tea Party To McVeigh

The Democrats spring propaganda offensive continues apace. Indeed, they are rolling out their biggest gun.

From a delighted New York Times:

Recalling ’95 Bombing, Clinton Sees Parallels

April 15, 2010

WASHINGTON — With the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing approaching, former President Bill Clinton on Thursday drew parallels between the antigovernment tone that preceded that devastating attack and the political tumult of today, saying government critics must be mindful that angry words can stir violent actions.

In advance of a symposium on Friday about the attack on the Oklahoma City federal building and its current relevance, Mr. Clinton, who was in his first term at the time of the bombing, warned that attempts to incite opposition by demonizing the government can provoke responses beyond what political figures intend.

“There can be real consequences when what you say animates people who do things you would never do,” Mr. Clinton said in an interview, saying that Timothy McVeigh, who carried out the Oklahoma City bombing, and those who assisted him, “were profoundly alienated, disconnected people who bought into this militant antigovernment line.”

The former president said the potential for stirring a violent response might be even greater now with the reach of the Internet and other common ways of communication that did not exist on April 19, 1995, when the building was struck.

“Because of the Internet, there is this vast echo chamber and our advocacy reaches into corners that never would have been possible before,” said Mr. Clinton, who said political messages are now able to reach those who are both “serious and seriously disturbed.” He will be delivering the keynote address Friday at an event about the Oklahoma City attack being sponsored by the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the Democratic Leadership Council.

Goodness knows that the Center For American Progress, which has created and funded countless ultra radical leftwing groups would never want to whip up people who are "seriously disturbed."

Mr. Clinton pointed to remarks like those made Thursday by Representative Michele Bachmann, the Minnesota Republican, who when speaking at a Tea Party rally in Washington characterized the Obama administration and Democratic Congress as “the gangster government.”

“They are not gangsters,” Mr. Clinton said. “They were elected. They are not doing anything they were not elected to do.”

Really? We thought they were elected to represent their constituents.

For the most part, their constituents have opposed ‘healthcare reform’ and a host of other recent legislation.

Mr. Clinton said his intent was not to stifle debate or muzzle critics of the government but to encourage them to consider what repercussions could follow. He acknowledged that drawing the line between acceptable discourse and that which goes too far is difficult but that lawmakers and other officials should try.

“Have at it,” he said. “You can attack the politics. Criticize their policies. Don’t demonize them, and don’t say things that will encourage violent opposition.”

Goodness knows Mr. Clinton has never demonized his opponents. Just ask Ken Starr. Or Robert Bork. Or Newt Gingrich.

Or anyone who ever stood up to him or his policies.

In the period before the Oklahoma City bombing, there was a growing antigovernment sentiment being expressed through a militia movement and anger at government officials, some of it in the wake of the assault on the Branch Davidian Compound in Waco, Tex., on April 19, 1993. Mr. Clinton recalls that he and his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, were characterized by Newt Gingrich, then the Republican Congressional leader, as the enemies of ordinary Americans…

There he goes again, demonizing Mr. Gingrich. In fact, the ex-law professor and disbarred lawyer, Mr. Clinton, is practically accusing the then Speaker of the House as being an accessory to murder before the fact.

But with the Clintons it has always been ‘don’t do as I do, do as I say.’

Mr. Clinton said the impact of political attacks could be dangerously amplified at the moment because of the economic upheaval that had left many Americans frightened and suffering. “A lot of people are just raw,” he said.

Is there any doubt that the Democrats are wishing with all their might for some kind of domestic terrorist event. Indeed, they probably see it as the only way they can preserve their majorities in Congress.

He called America a nation born out of protests, and said that he had no interest in reducing productive civic dialogue.

Of course he doesn’t. How could accusing more than half the country who dare to oppose Mr. Obama’s policies of whipping up violence be seen as chilling “productive civic dialogue.”

By the way, we suspect “productive civic dialogue,” is only dialogue that promotes the Democrat agenda, and nothing else.

“This is about holding our country together and having these debates,” he said. “The Republicans will have their chance in November.”

Sure, that’s always been Mr. Clinton’s top priority — preventing any dangerous divisiveness. Certainly, suggesting that Tea Party supporters are dangerous kooks who are trying to inflame violence, even civil war, will promote a new comity across the nation.

Still, isn’t it amusing to see Mr. Clinton misrepresenting what happened in 1995 as badly as he has been misrepresenting what happened in 1994.

(Lest we forget, Mr. Clinton has been telling current candidates that the Democrats lost control of the House and Senate back in 1994 because they did not pass Hillary-care. When in truth they were wiped out precisely because they almost did.)

Of course it’s a small miracle that this moral paragon wasn’t reminded as well of the burning churches that saw in his youth. But that will probably come later.

For a moment there, I thought Clinton was going to compare us to Randy Weaver.

    Or Elián González.

Or Paula Jones. Or Gennifer Flowers. Or Juanita Broaddrick.

Or other enemies of the state.

“Is there any doubt that the Democrats are wishing with all their might for some kind of domestic terrorist event”

Back to RB’s suggestion the other day that we might look forward to bombing attacks on Iran before the November election, I countered that I though a failed assasination attempt was more likely.

A thwarted domestic terroist event is another good possibility.

You don’t thing Obaminsky is going to be depending on silly policy discussions to win, do you?
    – He didn’t depend on policiy to get his opponent for the State legistlature disqualified
    – He didn’t depend on policy to reveal the sealed divorce papers of his primary opponent for the Senate run
    – He didn’t depend on policy to reveal the sealed divorce papers of his Republican opponent for his Senate run
    – He didn’t depend on policy when his henchmen tanked the markets in September 2008

So why would you think 2010 will be a normal, policy-based election?

    • mr_bill says:

Bingo, I wouldn’t be suprised to see some sort of manufactured ‘incident’ similar to the Tea Party interloper idea. They’ll pay some lib activist to do some horrible thing and claim to be inspired by the Tea Parties. Of course the perpetrator will probably pull a Vince Foster and do something like shoot himself in the back 8 or 9 times before an investigation can begin and that will be the end of it.

I know I am not alone here in recalling diagramming sentences in English class. I couldn’t help but notice the following sentence: “He will be delivering the keynote address Friday at an event about the Oklahoma City attack being sponsored by the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the Democratic Leadership Council.” Maybe I am a closet paranoid or conspiracy theorist, but the way it is written it says the Oklahoma City bombing was sponsored by the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the Democratic Leadership Council. I doubt if the Ministry of Propaganda will notice since they aren’t that literate themselves, but if I was Mr. Hulse I’d be careful lest I be mistaken for someone wearing a Sarah Palin button. Or even accused of inciting violence by Mr. Bill Clean-as-the driven-snow-after-the-sanding-trucks-have-passed.

  5. BobonStatenIsland says:

More interesting to me is not that Clinton forgets 1994, but rather Clinton and the Media continue to forget 1993 and the incident that pushed McVeigh over the edge. Clinton and Janet Renos Massacre of the men, women and children in Wako, Texas of the Branch Daidians. April 19th will always be promoted for the Oklahoma City Bombing and not the anniversary the Clinton Adminitration’s assault on the people of Wako.

  6. Douglas says:

Why just this week, Rachel Maddow was flogging her oh so timely Timothy McVeigh special on The Daily Show. I was wondering when the tie-in to the Tea Party groups would begin. And now we have this poor woman who was subjected to a “vast right wing conspiracy” suggesting that anyone in the Tea Party movement could be a closet McVeigh. Isn’t coincidence just so coincidental?

  7. BannedbytheTaliban says:

I think it is very telling that converatives unamioulsy denounce McVeigh and those who would be like him. Meanwhile, the liberals decorate their terrorist heros like Christmas trees. They award Nobel Peace Prizes to Yasser Arafat and Nelson Mandela, Adolf Hilter and Joseph Stalin(twice) are Time’s Man of the Year, or if you really kill a bunch of innoncent women and children you can get your face on a t-shirt like Che Guevara or Chariman Mao. Heck, there is even a place for you in the Obama adminstration if you bomb the pentagon.

I’m not so sure that dingleBarry would care enough as to yield to a leash….
      much less the Constitution.

As he has proven time and again!

  8. Right of the People says:

I wrote a few weeks ago that I thought if the elections don’t go Barry’s way in November within a few weeks, a month at most we would have a “terrorist incident” domestic or otherwise and Barry would take the opportunity to declare a national emergency and call out the National Guard and other military units for “security purposes”.

Shortly after the declaration of a national emergency with the National Guard and other troops out in the streets for “public safety” another “terrorist incident” will occur and the Bamster will say (with a heavy heart (sarc) as he tries to valiantly hold back his laughter) that due to the circumstances he is “temporarily” declaring martial law until order can be restored.

Maybe a bit paranoid and out there but it wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened. Granted it usually has happened in third world countries but that’s what Barry the Impotent is trying to turn the US into.

  9. chainsaw says:

Clinton/Carter sure do get their share of air time. When was the last time GHB was quoted on comments?

Typical liberal spin on the McVeigh connection. Here’s some spin: Mcveigh, DC Sniper, VaTech and Columbine shooters all grew up in democratic households.

Bill Clinton pardoned Bill Ayers so he could teach our children to stand on the American flag, and help Obama soften laws on young gangsters.

When even decent African-Americans trying to get away from the gang-ridden, drive by shootings, notice that JayZ
whose lyrics are to kill all the whites and take over the town, is a frequent visitor at the White House.
Well, sounds to me like Obama has his own militia (I’m not talking SEIU either) but a large group of gangs who all own illegal assault weapons, and all Obama has to do is say the word. “All my followers, former gang member friends, it’s time to come out and take this country”. Sounds doubtful, but taking the mentality of these murderous gangs, the idea of a free for all, would be their greatest dream. They’d far outnumber the police. I think that is more apt and a danger, than tea parties being a danger in this country. A just the fact that tea parties aren’t getting gunned down, does make one feel better too about the country. Aren’t the tea partiers the ones at risk of the dangerous gangs who may not approve?

    • Liberals Make Great Speedbumps says:

      “They’d far outnumber the police.”

Yeah but they’d come up WAY short on the headcount vs. gun owners who would love to blow their asses away.

  11. canary says:

Clinton sure left out a bunch. How to this day FBI will not show the video of middle-eastern man driving the Ryder truck (McVeigh passenger) sealed evidence, how money was funneled from the Middle-East to McVeigh & Nichols.
Instead of following the Middle-Easter connection, Clinton made it an opportunity to hunt high and low for associated militias so he could arrest them and have an excuse to go after the 2nd amendments and tighten gun control.

And Clintons, failure to look for these muslim terrorist cells in Oklahoma, led to all these muslim terrorists going to school & getting pilot licenses in OK which enabled them to fly planes into monumental buildings killing thousands of people.

Clinton said forget about looking for muslim photo drawing of John Doe 2, he was too far underground now. Bush caught him, muslim terrorist dirty bomber Jose Padilla, while the liberals called for his release.

Clinton avoided the FBI & CIA from attorney advice, while dealing with all the scandals of Waco, Hilary, Foster, Monica Lewinsky, choosing to get his advice from Rev Jesse Jackson who could empathize
    with Clinton’s aggressive sexual perversion.

Why doesn’t Bill Clinton inform the public of Jihad terrorist cell camps on U.S. soil, such as the one, 15 miles from Ft. Campbell Ky. Why doesn’t Obama for that matter, send census worker to those camps if they don’t have the means for a warrant.

Some Americans watching the ignoring of these growing muslim Jihad terrorist cells. American’s feeling more attacks by muslim terrorists being inevitable, especially with a U.S. muslim loving President, trying to prepare may appear to be a militia, may appear to be some dangerous militia
feel owning and practice shooting might come in handy
against the inevitable attacks our government warns America of being inevitable.

I believe Obama and Clinton are paranoid of these militias. I’ve sure never seen a militia, but if they exist I choose not to fear them, but be thankful, if one shows up gunning down bunch of muslims cutting my family and nieghors heads off in the streets.

Never seen anything at a tea party that looks like a militia either. A few maybe shouldn’t wear their military pin decorated hats. Maybe not allow American flags, and get rid of the patriotic songs, are pledges to the American flag. What can we do make the criminally accused Clinton, or not to squeaky clean Obama’s feel more comfortable. No one is forced to go the tea partys. I’ve never seena photo of a militia at a tea party.

Shame on each and every American that has demonized
a tea party, that feels like a 4th of July picket, WITHOUT
    firecrackers even.

‘Til then, government critics gotta be mindful that angry words can stir up violent actions. Like bombin’ a aspirin factory ‘n’ stuff. I mean, we’re not gangsters or anything like that. I remember the 8 years of Bush, and Obama took that wild-eyed hatred, campaigned on it, and won. Look at the left-wing hatred documented on http://www.zombietime.com

Now look at them? It’s the pot calling the kettle black. (Yeah, I know what I said…..)

  20. canary says:

Anyone seen the Clinton Chronicles updated version. At the end it gives the strange number of people witness to Clinton’s corruption that had mysterious deaths. To be fair I’m giving Snopes version, that such a wide death of Clinton security guards, and ATF agents killed at WACO was not unusual. Numerous plane crashes, numerous suicides. Snopes tells the reader Clinton would have been more likely to have offed Monica Lewinski & Linda Tripp more than the others on the list. Why would Bill do that. He denied finger in our faces, and prosecuted Linda Tripp. It would have been too obvious to kill them off, and the dirt was already common knowledge. Now aside the moved body of Foster, I can only tell Snopes that Clinton is not going to have the most obvious scandals offed. Also, the Clinton Chronicles goes into much detail, especially of the 2 teenagers found dead on the railroad track near Clinton’s secret private airport which was a drop off for the cocaine. Also, there were the Two body gaurd security officers on Clinton’s detail who gave testimony on Clinton’s sexual accusations while governor, who were later charged with committing fraud on their health insurance, who were later found innocent.

One thing Clinton fails to mention is that McVeigh claims in his book, his first choice was to bomb the Arkansas federal building, only he could not find a spot to make much of an impact. I haven’t read, nor wish to read what a terrorist has to say, but this part was in the news as truth. Clinton
wouldn’t have minded Arkansas rather than OK, and of course the Clintons
sure didn’t go back home to Arkansas. Their NY’ers. Bill chose Harlem, because his white gold is a few steps away. Hillary made NY her home. Nope, no way they’d go back to Arkansas. They do fit in better with the New York Times.

still, just to be fair, here’s some nobody’s opinion posted on the snopes.

Lawyers are such shameless scumbags, I can’t believe people still listen, clap, and vote for these people!

It’s the gov’t that caused Oklahoma City, not talk radio…..stupid idiots!

Obama is got to be the biggest BABY politician I have ever seen. But what to do expect from someone who has been pampered all his life, and protected from criticism because of his race….

  23. canary says:

First thing Clinton did when he came into office, was cut defense. Planes, tanks, etc. started missing from logistics. He stopped the dealing with the growing Middle-East terrorism, and focused on corruption and hiding activities. Such corruption throughout the government and security. Bush was naive, but did focus on keeping America safe. And he did try and stop the housing from going under, and while doing steps to help environment, didn’t bankrupt the country over all the foolishness. Bush is responsible for the
achieving stem cell research, just not with unborn babies. But, as turncoat
Micheal Fox said was that that old stem cell’s are grumpy, (giggle) as an argument we need fresh young stem cells. Bush did a lot to advance medical technology with setting up commissions, and he’s not getting any credit for it. Obama is putting us back to the dark ages. Get sick and die. It’s your time.

  24. shinez53 says:

Who is Bill Clinton anyway.. Sure he was our president, but he was also a draft dodger, dope smoker, whoremonger, and lest we forget Whitewater Gate.. He wants to steal your freedom, just like Obama. The Tea Party isn’t against our government, they are for our government, and want to see it run the way it’s supposed to be run, and not as a dictatorship.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Clinton, like a lot of loose lefties, are trapped in the bubble that since they are among the chosen few, they somehow have the right to tell others what’s good for them. Of course, this ignores their own human frailties and transgressions.

Conservatives, on the other hand, do their best to rise above those frailties, while admitting they, themselves, are not perfect but still strive toward the goal of good and toward perfection, knowing full well it’s unattainable.

Thus, you have a balanced, focused mindset. One that works hard to make things better, but constantly aware that there are road blocks and challenges. A certain negativity comes with the territory, acquired by virtue of trying things in younger years with a more altruistic approach but now tempered by certain failures.

Conservatives learn from their mistakes. Liberals expect perfection by repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

  25. proreason says:

I underestimated Clinton’s ability to destroy the country.

I thought from a policy perspective, he was essentially a non-entity. The Republicans blocked him in 94 and policy-wise, the country was in much the same place in 2000 as it was in 1992.

But he was able to do 2 things that from the perspective of an additional 10 years, were enormously destructive.

    a) he paved the way for this country to bow down to terrorists by treating terrorists as criminals instead of soldiers. This enable 9/11 and established the suicidal mindset that is still leveraged by the America-haters on the left to undermine our country.

    b) his shameful act of exploiting a 20 year old woman in the White House for his own sexual gratification has had a much greater impact than I could ever have imagined. A report came out the other day that says the 90% of young people do not view oral sex as sex at all. In a world that the leftists have turned into a continuous stream of mind-boggling mind boggles, it stands out. With one act, Clinton as President declared from the mountain-top that there is no morality…..and an eager mob of self-absorbed adolescents now gratefully stuff themselves with chocalate cake, since the President has declared it is calorie free.

    • JohnMG says:

Clinton affirmed what many had suspected all along about the boomers who stealthily assumed the levers of power. While most responsible people of the 60’s moved on to the honorable pursuits of work and family, the perpetual adolescents oozed their way into positions of power and influence. Now, they’re the ones calling the shots.

As for Clinton? He personifies Robin Williams assertion that……”God gave man a brain and a penis, but he only gave him blood enough to operate one at a time.”

And Clinton still commands an audience?? Improbable…..but true. How sad.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Clinton’s writing a book, “If I Had Let Miss Lewinsky Do Things To Me”. It’s along the lines of OJ’s “If I Did It”.
