Clinton: GOP-ers Make US ‘Look Like A Joke’

From an irony-proof Politico:

Bill Clinton scorches GOP field on climate change

Bill Clinton turned up the heat on the leading Republican presidential contenders Tuesday, saying their opposition to acknowledging climate change makes the country “look like a joke.”

This from a man whose very name has become the punchline for a dirty joke.

“If you’re an American, the best thing you can do is to make it politically unacceptable for people to engage in denial” about climate change, the former president said on the first day of the Clinton Global Initiative’s seventh annual meeting in New York City.

Yes, what could be more "American" than to silence people for questioning highly questionable theories that could cause us to waste billions of dollars.

“I mean, it makes us — we look like a joke, right?

And the last thing Mr. Clinton wants to do is make America look like a joke.

You can’t win the nomination of one of the major parties in the country if you admit that the scientists are right? That disqualifies you from doing it? You could really help us there,” Clinton added.

Kicking off the three-day conference, Clinton called the lack of debate in America on climate change “really tragic.”

And yet he wants to silence anyone who questions it?

“We need the debate in America and every country between people who are a little bit to the right and people who are a little bit to the left about what the best way is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, what is the best , most economical way to do it, what will get more done quicker,” he said.

We take it Mr. Clinton has figured out a way to make some green by promoting ‘climate change.’

Clinton added that it was impossible to make it politically unacceptable to deny climate change unless there is “enough evidence that it’s patently absurd.”

So Clinton says that it is impossible to do what he just said was the first thing that needed to be done? He seems to be getting more ‘confused’ by the day.

“So if you want to save the planet, the best way to rebuke the global warmers is to be able to point to every single solitary community to a specific example where changing the way we produce and consume energy increased, not decreased, employment,” he said

We would be happy to see just one example. And don’t give us the additional man hours the FBI is devoting to investigating Solyndra.

This year’s Clinton Global Initiative meeting has three themes: jobs, sustainable consumption and women and girls.

Speaking of ‘jokes.’

I agree, the lack of debate on climate change is tragic. But wasn’t it Clinton’s own running mate who proclaimed, “The debate is over!”? Isn’t it Al Gore and his disciples who refuse to debate? When you say that the science is settled, you are stifling debate.

When Clinton says that we should “admit that the scientists are right”, is he saying that scientists are never wrong? If so, then he is proclaiming an end to further advancement in science. That’s what happened during the dark ages. New advances in science were resisted because they already had all the answers.

I was only able to attend one event at the Clinton Conference.
It was titled – Sustainable Consumption of Women & Girls or How to get a “job”
The former President spoke eloquently about the subject and predicted that with
proper technique he could sustain the jobs of all women and most girls without
any greenhouse gas emissions. A national treasure :)
