Clinton Likens Voter ID To Jim Crow Laws

From an approving Politico:

Clinton likens GOP effort to Jim Crow

Former President Bill Clinton Wednesday compared GOP efforts to limit same-day voter registration and block some convicted felons from voting to Jim Crow laws and poll taxes.

And mind that voter ID laws are designed to stop voter fraud. And never mind that Jim Crow laws were all created and administered by the Democrat Party to keep blacks from voting – for Republicans.

Indeed, one of the most famous proponents of Jim Crow laws was none other than Mr. Clinton’s personal mentor, William Fulbright.

Lest we forget, Mr. Fulbright was a major opponent of racial integration. Fulbright signed the Southern Manifesto opposing the Supreme Court’s 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education decision. He filibustered the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1964. Fulbright also voted against the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

In a speech to liberal youth activists Wednesday, the former president called out proposals in battleground states like Florida and Ohio that could limit the voter rolls.

Notice how easily Democrats lie to the young. They think they won’t know any better.

“I can’t help thinking since we just celebrated the Fourth of July and we’re supposed to be a country dedicated to liberty that one of the most pervasive political movements going on outside Washington today is the disciplined, passionate, determined effort of Republican governors and legislators to keep most of you from voting next time,” Clinton said at Campus Progress’s annual conference in Washington.

It sounds like another "vast rightwing conspiracy." Like the one that spread the lie about Mr. Clinton have sexual relations with the intern Monica Lewinsky.

“There has never been in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the Jim Crow burdens on voting, the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today,” Clinton added.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines ‘demagogue’ as: ‘a leader of a popular faction, or of the mob; a political agitator who appeals to the passions and prejudices of the mob in order to obtain power or further his own interests; an unprincipled or factious popular orator.’

By the way, whatever happened to the sanctity of the ballot box? We thought honest elections were the cornerstone of a republic. But apparently, we were wrong.

Clinton mentioned Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s move in March to overturn past state precedent — including under former GOP governors — that allows convicted felons to vote once they’ve served they’ve finished probation periods.

“Why should we disenfranchise people forever once they’ve paid their price?” Clinton said. “Because most of them in Florida were African Americans and Hispanics who tended to vote for Democrats. That’s why.”

So Mr. Clinton claims preventing felony ex-cons from voting is the equivalent of disenfranchising people because of the color of their skin? Where is the outrage from the civil rights establishment? Where are the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton? Where is the NAACP?

But speaking of race baiters, you will recall that according to the book ‘Game Change,’ Bill Clinton still longs for the days when a "guy" like Obama would be getting him coffee.

I’m an election judge in St. Louis County from the great state of Missouri and I have to say that by and large people that come in to vote bring to correct identification. If we passed a law here that required voters to have picture I.D.s they would bring the correct picture I.D. In today’s day-and-age people realize they need to have the proper identification to do almost everything. Nobody will be upset if their state requires individuals to bring a picture I.D. because they know how easy it is to cheat and by-and-large the vast majority of the voting public wants fair elections, regardless of what some grey-haired ex-hippy president has to say!

“Why should we disenfranchise people forever once they’ve paid their price?”

Why then do we prevent them from purchasing firearms?

With all the companies that offer ID / credit protection for a price, you’d
think that that they’ve never heard of ID theft that is at an all time high.
      Btw……excellent point, Banned!

Clinton still proves to us what a boner he still is.

  3. Ever wonder why ‘voter registration’ is sacrosanct to the Left, but ‘photo ID’ is ‘Jim Crow, etc’??

Organized crime orgs, like the uber-leftist ACORN, have made their fortune from ‘voter registration.’

Logically, aren’t both points of disenfranchisement? Bottle necks to impede the poor?

Heck, why bother having any rules at all to vote?! Make it a carnival. Just show up and pull the lever as many times as you want.

So, why is voter registration sacrosanct to the Left, but photo ID is ‘Jim Crow, etc’??

How anyone can take this guy serious is beyond me. He’s like Fat Vegas Elvis. Nice show / no soul.

    “Thank Q…Thank Q vewry musch…”

Pose, bit lip, squint, point thumb.

Oh Come On! This is the democrats’ senior statesman?! What’s he best known for?! Lawn sprinkler impersonations in the oval office?!!! For cryin’ out loud at least Weiner had the decency to keep his act a solo (albeit in front of a camera, aka Congress Crack).

Paul Newman’s greatest movie, in my opinion,
was “Blaze.” It explains in an easily understandable
way the Southern way of politics and voting. I’m sure
Slick Willie would love to have things back that way.

  6. Enthalpy says:

Our civil war bagan some time ago. They will defeat us only if we let them.

  7. Natural Born Citizen says:

Maybe slick willie is just trying to get his own voting rights re-instated since he is a convicted felon guilty of committing perjury.
