Clinton: Mandela Helped Me Forgive Impeachment

From the Washington Free Beacon:

Clinton: Mandela Helped Me Forgive GOP For Impeachment

December 6, 2013

Former President Bill Clinton shared an anecdote regarding Nelson Mandela and the aftermath of his impeachment Friday on CNN.

Clinton revealed shortly after the “impeachment business” finished on Capitol Hill, Rep. Henry Hyde (R., Ill.) who managed the impeachment trial requested a meeting at the White House.

The former president granted the meeting out of lessons of humility and forgiveness he learned from Mandela, he said:

BILL CLINTON:  I remember one day, oh, about a month after the whole impeachment business was over, Henry Hyde, who had run the whole show, unbelievably enough, maybe a few months after, it was shortly after, asked for a meeting at the White House, for something that he was interested in. He brought a delegation in. My staff said I can’t believe you’re going to do this. I said, it’s my job, he’s a senior member of Congress.

Gee, how noble of Mr. Clinton, to still be willing to meet with members of Congress who tried to impeach him.

They came and left. As far as they knew, I did not even remember what had happened. I was able to do that, because of what Nelson Mandela did for me, the way he helped me.

Notice that Clinton doesn’t even remember what Henry Hyde wanted. Which would tend to indicate that he didn’t help him. But we’re supposed to think it is even amazing that Bill was able to meet with him in the first place. What an act of forgiveness. It’s just like Mandela’s situation.

Former South African President Nelson Mandela was famously imprisoned for his persistent democratic advocacy and pursuit of racial equality in South Africa. Later in life Mandela reconciled many of his captors when he became the President of South Africa.

Clinton, by contrast, was charged with perjury and obstruction of justice for blatantly lying under oath to Congressional investigators about his affair with Monica Lewinksy [sic].

In fact, Bill Clinton lied under oath and tried to get others to lie under oath in a sexual harassment trial.

I saw him do a different interview where Clinton said Mandela helped him with family advice, but he just gave raising Chelsea as a specific example. Perhaps, helping her come to terms he had sex with a girl near her same age. Clinton said it was Mandela who wanted the personal relationship with him and asked for Chelsea on the phone each time he called him. He felt Mandela was sucking up to him for a favor of same kind.

Clinton is on the cable news shows all the time no doubt standing in for Hillary who is trying to get her rumored brain tumor in check and give the people the idea that he, the great Bill Clinton will
    help Hillary run the country.

Luckily there is no nepotism in politics (cough cough) and Bill can’t run as vice-President.
I can not believe he’s only 67. Guess it’s from his nose that worked like a vacuum cleaner, especially back in the day Hillary and him made a fortune in Arkansas.
