Communist Truther Van Jones Resigns

From a disconsolate  Associated Press:

Controversy over fiery remarks fells Obama adviser

By Will Lester, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s environmental adviser Van Jones, who became embroiled in a controversy over past inflammatory statements, has resigned his White House job after what he calls a "vicious smear campaign against me."

The resignation, disclosed without advance notice by the White House in an e-mail minutes into Sunday on a holiday weekend, came as Obama is working to regain his footing in the contentious health care debate.

Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly "green jobs" with the White House Council on Environmental Quality was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the 2001 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

After the resignation, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama did not endorse Van Jones’ comments but thanked him for his service.

"What Van Jones decided was that the agenda of this president was bigger than any one individual," said Gibbs. The president thanks Jones for his work and accepted his resignation, Gibbs said, adding that Jones "understood he was going to get in the way," by becoming a liability to the administration. Gibbs spoke Sunday on ABC’s "This Week."

Jones issued an apology on Thursday for his past statements.

The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Jones made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones’s name appearing on a petition connected to the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. That 2004 petition had asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officials had allowed the attacks to occur.

"On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me," Jones said in his resignation statement. "They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."

Howard Dean, former head of the Democratic National Committee, told "Fox News Sunday" that he thought Jones "was brought down" and that his resignation was "a loss to the country."

Jones said he has been "inundated with calls from across the political spectrum urging me to stay and fight."

But he said he cannot in good conscience ask his colleagues to spend time and energy defending or explaining his past.

Jones flatly said in an earlier statement that he did not agree with the petition’s stand on the Sept. 11 attacks and that "it certainly does not reflect my views, now or ever."

As for his other comments he made before joining Obama’s team, Jones said, "If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize."

Despite his apologies, Republicans demanded Jones quit

Jones, well-known in the environmental movement, was a civil-rights activist in California before shifting his attention to environmental and energy issues. He is known for laying out a broad vision of a green economy. Conservatives have harshly criticized him for having left-wing political views.

Nancy Sutley, chair of the council, said in a statement released early Sunday that she accepts Jones resignation and thanked him for his service.

"Over the last six months, he had been a strong voice for creating jobs that improve energy efficiency and utilize renewable resources," she said. "We appreciate his hard work and wish him the best moving forward."

Gosh those Republicans and Conservatives are mean-spirited.

And by the time everyone is back to work on Tuesday, it will be as if Mr. Jones never existed. (Unless he is cited as an example of a good man driven from his job by unfair and of course racist criticism.)

Isn’t that convenient?

Obama ‘green jobs’ adviser quits amid controversy

    By Will Lester

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama’s adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.

Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs” with the White House Council on Environmental Quality was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the 2001 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

The resignation comes as Obama is working to regain his footing in the contentious health care debate.
Jones issued an apology on Thursday for his past statements. When asked the next day whether Obama still had confidence in him, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said only that Jones “continues to work in the administration.”

The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Jones made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones’ name appearing on a petition connected to the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. That 2004 petition had asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officials had allowed the attacks to occur.

On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me,” Jones said in his resignation statement. “They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.

Jones said he has been “inundated with calls from across the political spectrum urging me to stay and fight.”

So, revealing Jones to be an unashamed communist, Black reparations promoter, American Indian reparations promoter, vetted “truther” and just blatant radical is “smear.”

Thank God for Glenn Beck and Gateway Pundit for their campaigns to inform the American people about this, no matter what the NAACP has to say:

From NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous:

t is sad and unfortunate that our nation’s precious airwaves and cable television time are being occupied with the unscrupulous, diversionary tactics launched by right wing extremists such as Glenn Beck.

Van Jones has established himself through his many years in public service as a hardworking advocate for positive, progressive change. He is a devoted husband and father. Mr. Beck and the other news services’ portrayal of Mr. Jones to the contrary is not only distracting and disingenuous but harmful and destructive.

and Hilary O. Shelton, Director of the NAACP Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President of Advocacy and Policy:

The tactics being deployed by right wing extremist commentators to divert the American people’s attention away from very important issues of our nation such as sustainable energy, lack of dependence on foreign fuel sources, and the creation of living wage jobs are not only unethical but dangerous to the future of our country.

    White House press release.

As of Midnight Saturday Labor day weekend Mr Van Jones was thrown under the “funky” town bus heading to commie Palookaville.

We hoped this story would be buried and are carefully watching to see if there’s enough outrage to bring him back to preach to the choir…

Next Q please Miss Helen Thomas.

    Yes “Bo’ is doing fine..

Thank you for the hard hitting Q

So it’s lies and distortions – but he resigns?

So is he a coward – who doesn’t even want to prove that they are lies and distortions?

Or is it truth and facts – and he was asked to fall on the sword so that the agenda could go forward without this ‘distraction’ (i.e serious problem/issue that highlights in public the lies and distortions we’ve tried to keep covered up)?

And we need to keep going – because the more Czars and others of the Obama Administration that get knocked off – the closer we can get to The Won himself – and sooner or later, somewhere, somehow – someone is going to spill the beans – the truth that will lead to the First Halfrican Liar Election Stealer (via ACORN) in Chief being ousted before he destroys the Greatest Nation in the World with all his Hopey Dopey Change.

    • Confucius

I was thinking the same thing.

Liberals of this type don’t give up. I think he was told to apologize and then to resign when the scrutiny didn’t relent.

Did you notice how his initially weaving explanations became more pointed and venomous as the days wore on? He’s not apologetic. He’s angry–and likely more so than ever.

I also bet he still has Obama’s ear.

  6. What timing! Most of the network Sunday shows are filmed on Saturday. The announcement on Saturday night avoided these shows.

Here is the speech Obama was going to give in support.

Let me be clear! Van Jones has my complete and unequivocal support. Young African-American men experiencing the inequalities of the American system in the pre-Obama era, often looked at other political systems. Communism promised equality to all. A promise not kept in America. ‘

We should not condemn this man who turned away from communism to dedicate himself to cleaning up the environment and his dream of providing millions of green jobs for under-represented minorities [not for Jews or Orientals].

Nor should we condemn him for signing the petition for the investigation of George Bush’s involvement in collapse of the World Trade Center. His signature was a political gesture signifying is discontent with Bush’s invasion of Iraq. Nothing more nothing less.

These malicious lies, exaggerations, smears and distortions against this man are proof positive that racism is still alive and well in the U.S. of KKK. America, I know we can do better. You know in your heart that we need to give this man the opportunity to realize his dream of a clean, self-reliant America. Free from oil dependency. Built by legal and undocumented, under-represented minorities.

These green jobs shall pay UAW union labor rates because it takes as much to build a turbine as it does to build a car. We need to put these turbines on land leased from Native Americans at maximum rates.

Not only does this insure and endorse the dignity of all under-represented minorities, it provides for the security of all America and insures the survival of the planet.

There are nay sayers, doubters and racist out there that are opposing our efforts. They are saying. “No you can’t!”

But you know “Yes we can!”

And we shall! With the help of Van Jones, “Yes we can!” And “Yes we shall!”

    ——————————————–

And we have not heard the last from Mr. Jones – Either he will become a lobbyist for GE to procure turbine contracts or form a company that will receive no bid contracts to prepare under-represented youth for green jobs.

“Let me be clear! Van Jones has my complete and unequivocal support. Young African-American men experiencing the inequalities of the American system in the pre-Obama era, often looked at other political systems. Communism promised equality to all. A promise not kept in America.”

This is, of course, the dirty little secret of communist regimes. The promise full racial equality is a joke. In the former USSR, the ONLY people with real power were so-called “white Russians”, and white Russian men at that. All the Kazaks and Mongols and Asiatic types, though full citizens and comrades, were kept (and still are) strictly in the provinces and in subordinate positions. No hope of advancement at all. The same hold true in Cuba and other totalitarian utopias, the Indians and the African immigrants are thrown sops, but no power.

  8. Anonymoose

I can’t break this down into an either/or yes/no summary so I’ll just put down my random thoughts:

Where was the “smear” involving anything other than his own words?

How was he even qualified in the first place? Get lots of people roused up but what about a science/technical background to know how to apply the “green” technology?

Wasn’t it just a few months ago the Republicans were a disenfranchised minority who were completely powerless? Now all of a sudden it’s conspiracy theories and oh, they somehow derailed the health care thing. It NEVER crosses their mind, or at least their public persona, that the average person rejects their agenda.

Why is it….well actually we know….but when will they ever drop the mantra that noticing something seriously wrong in one of their people is “distracting” from the “more important issues?” How much more important can it be than a lack of qualification and an agenda not agreeing with the job?

I thought Rush was the guy in charge of the party (sarcasm), so where did Glenn Beck come from, and how can he be so influential if the only people listening to him are the minority redneck Republicans? (more sarcasm) How could the smart, moral, intellectually superior liberals even know what he is saying? (even more sarcasm)

I can’t wait for the comparisons to “poor John Kerry.”

  9. TwilightZoned

I, for one, am excited! Seems words do actually matter and one can be defeated by his/her own words/beliefs. He’s got no one to blame but himself. Do I, for one second, think he’s really totally out of the picture? No. He’ll be used somehow, more than likely community organizing, so we still need to be vigilante about keeping an eye on him. Well, one down. Several more to go. Let’s clean house; the WH that is!

Pro-You were so right in your statement about him possibly being flushed after Friday night. Man, you’re good! You’re real good!

  10. catie

So long, farewell, auf weidersen(sp?), good bye. I really don’t understand this White House either? These are friends and colleagues of the messiah and yet he still gets personally high approval ratings. I am confused.

Controvery over firey remarks fells Obama adviser via Comcast

“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me,” Jones said in his resignation statement. “They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”

Using lies and distortion to distract and divide. No, the Dems and left-wing nut jobs have never used this tactic. Noo, uh uh. The difference here is there was no need to lie or distort. His own words did him in.

  12. Enthalpy

There is cause for a moment of joy. Ok, the moment’s over. This generation of Leftists has been working non-stop since the 1960s and will never quit til there is a stake in their movement’s heart, make no mistake about it. A false sense of security and lack of vigilance have brought us to the mess we find ourselves in today. If we do make it through these days, we must never let down again. Talk is cheap, but this is the truth nonetheless.

  13. Seriously, why is it so hard to find someone who has an educational background in environmental science, a person who has practiced what he or she is about to preach to the masses, one who has never embraced communism or blamed the government for 9/11? If this stupid job has to exist at all (and I say it doesn’t, private industry can do most anything better than government), why not pick the most knowledgeable person to fill it?

This isn’t about race one bit—Jones’ remarks are utterly distasteful regardless of his skin color. So I suppose to avoid being racist we must allow people of color to say things that are distasteful and forgive them for it, and continue to blame the white males of any political persuasion for putting those nasty thoughts into everyone’s head?

TOTUS’ problem is that he puts utterly unqualified people into important positions of power regardless of their ability to do the job and regardless of their past actions or remarks. Too much cronyism and not enough thought into what the “job” is supposed to be.

It’s also kind of funny that Jones is so against a democratic form of government yet he was willing to accept a nice fat paycheck from it. A good comrade would have done the job for free, for the benefit of the people. All he’d expect in return is a roof over his head, some groceries and a car.

    • proreason

“why is it so hard to find someone who has an educational background in environmental science”

      It’s not.

But it sounds like you accept the premis the “Green Jobs” czar’s purpose in life is to increase “Green Jobs”, rather than to destroy the United States of America. To create Green Jobs, you certainly don’t need a street radical and communist. Indeed, that would get in the way, wouldn’t it?

If you can abandon the notion that these people mean well, then everything they do is clear and logical.

    • PR, not at all. I think the position is a bunch of crap and utterly unnecessary. Plenty of private industries are trying to “green” their way of doing things—even something as simple and as easy as recycling. I’m for that. I’m not for government telling a business or industry or individuals that they MUST do things in a green manner or pay a penalty for not doing so (whatever the hell “green” is, because I don’t think the term is really terribly defined—what is green transportation? What is green manufacturing? The word sustainability is also tossed around a lot alongside the term green … I digress. I’ve edited too many transportation studies that spew the term green and I’m sick of it, frankly.).

IF for whatever reason “government” says we “need” a green jobs czar, then at least put someone into the position that knows what the hell he/she’s talking about, NOT some street radical buddy you promised a job to who probably doesn’t even separate his recyclables from regular garbage. Unfortunately right now there is no one in government or a position of authority who will tell TOTUS no, this position isn’t necessary, and the person you picked is utterly unqualified for the job.

There aren’t even enough citizens (yet) who will stand up and publicly say “Enough” to the president. Not yet. And we are crazy if we think he’s going to listen to us, unless we clean house in next year’s elections. And by “clean house” I mean vote most incumbents out on their rears. Especially in my home state. Though I’d expect him to remain as arrogant as ever, even with a “radical” change in the complexion of the congress and senate.

    • proreason

Here’s a definition of “green” in this context:

Green: a political movement designed to restrict people’s freedom and wealth by false claims that the normal activities of life damage the environment and hence pose a threat to the survival of humanity, plants and animals and even the earth itself.

The movement gained favor after the totalitarian philosophies of the late 19th and 20th century failed to succeed in subjugating significant portions of the worlds’ population to the power lust of Socialists, Communists, Fascists and Statists. Concurrent with the demise of those more explicit philosophies of domination, the Green Movement arose as an an alternative method of deceiving people into strangling themselves by yielding control of their lives and wealth to other people who posed as knowing how to preserve the environment. The deceivers based their approach on humanity’s natural instinct to preserve the environment and actually succeeded in convincing millions of people to throw away the fruits of centuries of human progress for lip service promises by the deceivers that the earth would be healthier because of the false claims.
