Dutch Court: Prosecute Anti-Islamic Lawmaker

Dutch Court Orders Anti-Islamic Lawmaker Geert Wilders Prosecuted on Hate Speech Charge

THE HAGUE, Netherlands

A right-wing lawmaker should be prosecuted for inciting racial hatred with anti-Islamic statements that include calling the Quran a "fascist book," a Dutch court ruled Wednesday.

Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders made headlines around the world in March 2008 with his film "Fitna," which juxtaposed Quranic verses against a background of violent film clips and images of terrorism by Islamic radicals.

In 2007, Wilders called for a ban on the Quran "the same way we ban ‘Mein Kampf.’" He said both Adolf Hitler’s work and the Muslim holy book contain passages that contradict Western values.

The Amsterdam Appeals Court called Wilders’ statements in his film, newspaper articles and media interviews "one-sided generalizations … which can amount to inciting hatred."

The court’s ruling reverses a decision last year by the public prosecutor’s office , which said Wilders’ film and interviews were painful for Muslims but not criminal.

Wilders told Dutch media it was a "black day for myself and for freedom of speech." …

Wilders, whose party has nine lawmakers in the 120-seat lower house of Dutch Parliament, has built his popularity largely on tapping into fear and resentment among Dutch voters of Muslim immigrants.

"I’ve had enough of Islam in the Netherlands; let not one more Muslim immigrate," he wrote once in national newspaper De Volkskrant. "I’ve had enough of the Quran in the Netherlands: Forbid that fascist book."

The three judges said they had weighed Wilders’ anti-Islamic rhetoric against his right to free speech, and ruled he had even gone beyond the normal leeway given to politicians.

Because Wilders has not yet been charged, it is not clear what maximum penalty he could face if convicted.

While judges in the Netherlands generally are loathe to become involved in public debate, the court said it was making an exception in the case of Wilders’ comments about Islam.

"The court considers this so insulting for Muslims that it is in the public interest to prosecute Wilders," a summary of the court’s decision said.

Gerard Spong, a prominent lawyer who joined Islamic groups in pushing for Wilders’ prosecution, welcomed the decision.

"This is a happy day for all followers of Islam who do not want to be tossed on the garbage dump of Naziism," Spong told reporters in Amsterdam.

How can any country give away its civilization, its freedoms so easily?

I think the answer can be summed up in a single word: cowardice. They are afraid of the muzlims, and they will do anything to appease them.

The Dutch were once a rather strong minded people, courageous, religious, and willing to take a stand. They were a pioneering people, establishing colonies in America and in South Africa. Now they are a weak people, besotted with drugs and homosexuality, free love and irreligion. Rather like Samson after his hair was cut.

The Dutch ignore reality at their peril. This excerpt has been seen elsewhere on the internet, but even so, should be much better known.

From “The River War” written in 1899 by Winston Churchill:

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science – the science against which it had vainly struggled – the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”

Islam is the Neo Nazi movement of today there. They may not goose step but they sure as hell know have to raze a country. Look around…….the evidence is there for all to see. Soon to be rearing its ugly head here soon.

Music and videos are out of the question but buggering the barnyard livestock is ok……..alright then.
I say play that rap crap loud with the bass REAL high! Chances are it will trigger the vest prematurely. ROCK ON DUDE!!

Talk about article warping……..this was suppose to go into the other thingy. WOOP WOOP WOOP!!

It is interesting that you mentioned Neo Nazi. The links between early Islamist leaders in the 30’s and Hitler are rather condemning. Of course, they had a shared goal and purpose. Funny how one never learns about such things in school.

Looks as though that court ruling may have backfired.

Court Decision Boosts Party of Dutch Lawmaker Who Criticized Islam
    Tuesday, January 27, 2009
    By Patrick Goodenough, International Editor

(CNSNews.com) – Controversial Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders has seen his party’s popularity rise following a court ruling that he should stand trial for his statements about Islam.

Last week’s decision by an appeals court in Amsterdam instructing prosecutors to indict Wilders for “inciting hatred and discrimination” has directly contributed to increased support for his Party for Freedom (PVV), according to Dutch pollster Maurice de Hond.

The court ruling “has had a clear positive effect on the size of the electoral support for the PVV,” which now stands at a 16-month high, he said.

The Maurice de Hond poll found that if an election were held now, the PVV would win 20 seats in the Tweede Kamer, or lower house of parliament – three more than a similar poll showed last week.

Since Nov. 2006 elections the PVV has controlled nine seats in the 150-member legislature. That election result made Wilders’ party the fifth biggest in the house, but this week’s poll showing would make it the third largest, behind the Christian Democrats (29 seats) and Labor (27).

“A parliament that constantly talks of freedom, democracy and tolerance has shown once again that these are empty words when it does not agree with what is being said,” he said.

Meanwhile a new online petition in support of Wilders has attracted more than 23,000 signatures.

Addressed to the Dutch government, the petition says that if it attempts to punish Wilders “for exercising his freedom of expression, the undersigned will initiate a boycott of any and all Dutch goods.”

Maybe this will finally get the Dutch up on their hind legs.

I’m not computer savvy enough to make a live link to the online petition thing in support of Wilders, but you can go to the original article, which links to it, if you want to sign it. They’re up to almost 25,000 signatures now.
