CPUSA Trumpets: ‘Student Loan Victory’

Yet another victory lap from the CPUSA’s Peoples World (formerly the Daily Worker):

Student loan victory

Young people and their parents had two reasons to celebrate yesterday’s passage of the sweeping health care reform bill. In addition to extending the age limit under which children are covered by parents’ insurance from 18 to 26, the bill included a historic change in college financial aid.

For four decades, the student loan program has relied on private lenders, which were both subsidized and guaranteed by the government. The bill (an updated form of the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act), removes those "middlemen" from the equation, at a projected savings of $61 billion dollars.

The United States Student Association (USSA) campaigned hard for the change, calling it "inexcusable to continue the current student loan system, which is nothing more than corporate welfare."

Other organizations working for passage of the bill included the NAACP, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, and the National Council of La Raza.

Rep. George Miller (D-CA), called the legislation "the single largest investment in college affordability ever at no cost to the taxpayers.”

The Democrats are going to give larger loans to more students and allow them more time to pay them off — and at no cost to the taxpayers.

It’s better than voodoo economics. It’s Obama magic.

By the way, the aforementioned United States Student Association (USSA) is a terrorist loving, America-hating radical front.

A brief excerpt from their lengthy rap sheet at Discover The Networks:

Calling itself America’s "oldest and largest national student association," the United States Student Association (USSA), founded in 1947, is the principal lobbying group for American students. Its platform includes support for racial and ethnic preferences in academia, the expansion of public education benefits for illegal immigrants, and ardent opposition to America’s war on terror

Pursuing its aim of "expanding retention and recruitment programs for underrepresented students," on October 28, 2003 USSA pressed for the creation of National Take Affirmative Action Day. Falling within USSA’s definition of "underrepresented students" are illegal immigrants and drug users.

Rebecca Wasserman, the current President of USSA, has worked to increase access to public education for members of both those groups. An outspoken supporter of the 2003 Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, which grants illegal immigrant high-school students an opportunity to attend college or serve in the U.S. armed forces, Wasserman has sought to make illegal immigrants eligible for subsidized in-state tuition.

At the same time, she has lobbied to end restrictions of federal aid to drug users. Testifying before the House of Representatives on May 12, 2004, she said that USSA would not endorse a partial repeal of a no-drug-use provision in the financial aid application form. Said Wasserman, "We must pass a full repeal to guarantee access to education for all students, and education is the best rehabilitation." …

USSA is a member organization of the United for Peace and Justice anti-war coalition, which is led by Leslie Cagan, a longtime committed socialist who aligns her politics with those of Fidel Castro’s Communist Cuba. USSA has participated in numerous anti-war rallies condemning America’s post-9/11 military campaigns and exhorting the U.S. government to divest from Israel.

USSA is a sponsoring organization of the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride Coalition, an open-borders entity that seeks to secure amnesty and full civil rights and liberties for illegal immigrants, as well as policy reforms that diminish or eliminate restrictions on future immigration…

Now ask yourself, why would the Communist Party USA, the USSA, the NAACP and La Raza be such ardent advocates for more ‘student aid’?

That’s a tough one.

    “That’s a tough one.”

    I’m thinking, I’m thinking…

  2. Right of the People says:

What are the odds that the main criteria to get a student loan under the new system will be that you are not of the Caucasian persuasion?

    Just sayin’.

  3. NoNeoCommies says:

“at no cost to the taxpayers”.
    Infamous words and never true.
Even a smooth running program would end up costing the taxpayers something because of administrative costs.
When you factor in the low rates, extended payoffs, government inefficiency, inevitable loan forgiveness, and money just plain ‘lost’; it will cost a lot.
When you add the lost jobs caused by effectively outlawing private student loans, you increase the cost to taxpayers and cut government revenues from taxes.

Yes, as an aside, a local township juggles the books for its recreation center to make it look like the center pays for its self…except the township office puts postage on the rec center’s mail. They share a parking lot, so I suppose sealing and line painting is charged to the township, not the rec center. And so it will go with health care and student loans. The IRS will get charged with collection costs, not Government Insurance, Inc.

Hey, and aint we trying to get banks to lend money?

“the expansion of public education benefits for illegal immigrants”

free money to people who break the law to come here and don’t pay into the system…

“destruction and ardent opposition to America’s war on terror…’exhorting the U.S. government to divest from Israel”

passivity in the face of radical Islam

I see, so just another “destroy America from within” group, with a side of “gimme more.”

Glad to know that they like what’s happening to our government.

I for one will love seeing what happens to Congress in November if we the people can vote out the statists.
