CW Developing TV Drama About Transgender Teen

From Deadline Hollywood:

CW Developing Drama About Transgender Teenager From Producer Michael London

By NELLIE ANDREEVA | September 12, 2013

EXCLUSIVE: The CW is taking on a controversial subject with ZE, a drama project centering on a transgender teenager. Written by Brooklyn-based writer-playwright Kyle Jarrow and executive produced by Michael London (Milk), ZE is described as a raw, quirky family drama about a FTM (female-to-male) teen and his family.

According to the their website: "The CW Network was formed as a joint venture between Warner Bros. Entertainment and CBS Corporation. The CW is America’s fifth broadcast network and the only network targeting women 18-34."

A personal choice takes on controversial public significance when a Texas teenager announces she is transgender and will be living life as a boy. As his dysfunctional family spirals into identity crises of their own, he discovers that he might be the most well-adjusted of them all.

CBS TV Studios is producing ZE, whose title represents a non-gender-specific reference (like he or she).

While there have been a handful of transgender characters on broadcast series, most notably one played by Rebecca Romijn on ABC’s Ugly Betty, this is the first time a transgender person would be the lead of a primetime show…

How courageous of them. Isn’t social progress wonderful?

  1. Don’t you love how they’ve already decided that the transgender teen is the “well-adjusted ” one in the family? Jesus, what’s wrong with the rest of them? Just another backhanded progressive swipe at the nuclear family. Apparently in the 21st century you’re not normal unless there is something seriously wrong with you.

I wonder who they’re going to get to play it. Will they hire a woman or a man for the part? I’m sure there’ll be someone out there who’ll be offended by the choice.

They’ll choose a young teenage girl with delicate features (ironic) and they’ll dress her in tomboy clothes to get their foot in the door and to sell a socially acceptable image to a starry eyed teen audience. The story will play out like a common cliche. This girl, who is a paragon of virtue, would do great things if she didn’t have to contend with evil Western mores. But they’re not going to touch the real aspects of the disorder: she’s not going to undergo surgical mutilation, hormonal treatment, grow a beard or do anything that would turn off viewers. And they’re not going to introduce 40-year-old males dressed in bustiers or fishnets, which is an all too common absurdity among them.

The left’s recent obsession with sexual proclivities is getting boring.

  2. I won’t watch a show about a transgender teen.

Now, if you make it a transgender teen serial killer (Dexter) who is secretly a Vampire (Twilight) who’s dating a transgender werewolf teen (Children of the Moon) involved in Satanic Black Magic (Harry Potter) caught up in a catastrophic biological experiment (Resident Evil), who has a Sixth Sense and has no problem with (Riding in Cars With Boys) while manufacturing meth for a crazed adult (Breaking Bad) … then hell yes … that shiat I’d watch.

    But just transgender? Lame.

  3. “Written by Brooklyn-based writer-playwright Kyle Jarrow and executive produced by Michael London (Milk)….”

Milk? Is that Men I’d Like to Kill?

prediction= this show won’t get 50,000 viewers for the first episode, despite the heavy promotion that will almost certainly be on every network, and will slowly lose audience and die quietly after just 6 episodes.

AND….we’ll be blamed for not watching because we are still a bigoted nation.

it still won’t die that fast. first show will probably get large audience. there’s a lot of lib guilt and activism. but the numbers will be artificially inflated, then “seasonally adjusted,” then when people actually see how insulting it is, it will lose viewers in droves. most people don’t like to see the portrayal of normal behavior (the type that takes place even in the lib home) being assaulted as if it were the deviant life choice.
it may make it a full season. Roseanne lasted for nearly a full 2 seasons after it went in the tank and became a full frontal assault of gay propaganda. but even libs become conservative when it comes to spending their own cash. they may drop some for the cause, but even they don’t want to “lose” money.

  4. I have an idea. Why not just produce a show of people who have sex with animals? I’m sure it’s audience would be larger than the IT show. Especially if the people were cute….

  5. Reality Bytes

The award for best, er, um, best, uhhh, actor? goes to”

Is You Is or Is You Ain’t” – Dr. John

They will have to rate it “G” since the schools now give sex education and gender identity in kindergarten.

No doubt she/he ZE will have to resort to more shocking antics when the ratings dwindle, which will make straights want to puke. Then ZE will spend ZE money on drugs like most child stars.

On the bright side, perhaps shocking antics may lead to the LGT starting to feel uncomfortable in their own skins seeing themselves as others see them. The LGs might even find something about the ZE that offend them. Especially if ZE goes through an identity crisis.

I remember when I found Lesbians use strap on thingies I decided there was no such thing. They just need a man to grow boobs.

Well don’t forget Pvt Manning wiki leak on trial fell in love and was suffering rejection from that that older M transgender to F. That shows he really likes girls with caked on make-up, red lipstick, fake boobs, but with real wienies.

    • You are in rare form today! LOL!!!!

it’s fun to see the circular logic disintegrate.
“hmmm, let’s see. i’m a man, but I like men, but I don’t like the feeling of being gay. that must mean i’m in the wrong body. i’ll have the key parts surgically rearranged and then continue to behave like a gay man. then to make sure i’m fully accepted (even by myself) i’ll find an understanding straight man to marry me. circuit complete.” ?????

yes, I see i’m skipping all the psychodrama associated with the disorder (and it is a psychological disorder) but apparently melodrama and victimhood are already a lynchpin in the activist lifestyle. hence ubiquitous media narration of every schlub who announces that they have/will/want the surgery.
with the gay community in the full swing of acceptance in our culture, why not just be a gay man, or woman, and roll with that? why the feeling of necessity for the surgical “reassignment?”

    • Because just being gay doesn’t bring the desired attention they seek. Queer may be ‘cool’, but it’s no longer the attention getter it used to be. Those seeking this non-stop audience for their ever increasing perversions now feel the need to get ever more outrageous, filthy and degrading.

And like any sin, such as drunkeness/alcholism, drug abuse, adultery, et al, homosexuality and it’s many perversions is a CHOICE. They can stop if they really want to.

    1-900 Canary ?

    you rock girl.

    sorry about that,
    could not pass it up.
they said stuff like that in my day on The Dean Martin Roasts.

    • Try some of the Comedy Channel Roasts. Acidic, hair-singing insults and so politically incorrect it’ll curl your toes. But funny as hell. (though al the Dean Martin Roasts are in my collection)

“As his dysfunctional family spirals into identity crises of their own, he discovers that he might be the most well-adjusted of them all.” OK so in a metaphor : in a family of sociopaths he is the best sociopath?
Hello!?! – he is STILL member of a dysfunctional family. Being the best thief in a family of thieves is NOT a prize or achievement. However, our wonderful PC liberal media thinks it is. (ooohh look how far he went and what he has achieved with all his obstacles. Pity poobooo!) I have encountered many funtioning drunkards and druggies in my life. It DOES NOT make me want to emulate them or accept their behavior of lifestyle.
