Davis Blames Opponent For Lies In Her Biography

From the whirling dervishes at the Politico:

Wendy Davis hits back at questions about bio

By KATIE GLUECK | 1/20/14

Wendy Davis, the Democratic state senator running for governor of Texas, swung back Monday at swirling questions about her personal life after a newspaper report suggested there were inconsistencies in the biography she’s shared on the stump.

In a statement, Davis sought to explain the discrepancies, while also signaling that her Republican opponent, Greg Abbott, was behind the growing scrutiny.

Ms. Davis didn’t really ‘swing back.’ The article suggested more than ‘inconsistencies.’ She did not ‘explain any discrepancies.’ And it’s preposterous to blame her opponent, unless he has super powers to go back in time to change her life story.

But other than that, the Politico gives a fair assessment of the facts.

The Dallas Morning News piece over the weekend noted that Davis had been 21, not 19, by the time she got a divorce — despite statements to the contrary — and highlighted tension with an ex-husband, among other family drama.

Yep, that’s really an accurate synopsis of the article. (Not.) And never mind that it appears Ms. Davis lived a far nicer life than she claims. Or that she pursued and married a well-healed lawyer friend of her father’s, who is 13 years her senior.

Whom she dumped after he put her through college and law school. And whom a judge awarded custody of her children. And never mind that the husband had claimed she committed adultery.

“We’re not surprised by Greg Abbott’s campaign attacks on the personal story of my life as a single mother who worked hard to get ahead,” Davis said in her statement. “But they won’t work, because my story is the story of millions of Texas women who know the strength it takes when you’re young, alone and a mother.”

The left-leaning Dallas Morning News published the article. Most, if not all, of the material seems to have come from Ms. Davis’ ex-husband.

Asked by POLITICO to point to specific attacks from Abbott, the current Texas attorney general, a Davis spokeswoman responded, “We’ve had reporters independently verify these attacks are coming from Greg Abbott’s campaign.” …

How convincing. By the way, will Greg Abbott have her divorce records unsealed? (As Obama has done in his past campaigns.)

On Sunday, the author of the piece said, as part of a Twitter thread, that “in researching, I talked to no — zero — Abbott people.” …

He’s obviously lying.

“My language should be tighter,” she told the newspaper in regard to personal details her campaign has highlighted. “I’m learning about using broader, looser language. I need to be more focused on the detail.” …

So sayeth a Harvard trained lawyer. In reality she lied and got caught. And, in fact, she has not countered one fact chronicled in the Dallas Morning News article.

Still, who does Wendy Davis think she is, making up her background our of whole cloth like that? Elizabeth Warren? Hillary Clinton? Barack Obama?

Maybe she should claim Native American ancestry…that will certainly make her untouchable. Don’t be the least bit surprised if Ms. Davis gets elected. Lying Liberal Nutjobs (I know, I’m being redundant) are the norm, not the exception.
