DC Area Richest, Most Educated & Racist

From a crowing Washington Post:

Washington area is wealthiest and most educated region in the nation, census data show

By Carol Morello and Dan Keating
Wednesday, December 15, 2010

The Washington area’s affluence and education levels make it the wealthiest and most educated region in the nation, according to census data released Tuesday that reflect five years of relative prosperity compared with the rest of the country.

During that period, Fairfax and Loudoun were the only two U.S. counties with median household incomes surpassing $100,000. Tiny Falls Church, which is an independent city and counted separately, had that median income level, as well.

Who are the greedy rich?

Five of the region’s suburban counties – Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, Montgomery and Howard – plus Alexandria and Falls Church, were among 17 places in the United States in which more than half of the residents have at least a bachelor’s degree

Don’t be fooled by all this talk about the people of the DC area being so educated. The federal government loves to buy meaningless degrees for their drones.

They pay their employees to go to school – for anything and everything. They then give them pay hikes for racking up undergrad and advanced degrees. The less these degrees have to do with their jobs, the better.

And getting paid to go to school sure beats working, especially when it means more money in the pay envelope every year down the road.

William Frey of the Brookings Institution has started to mine the data, concluding that segregation is declining nationally and locally. In his analysis of the 100 largest metropolitan areas, 61 experienced declines in segregation between blacks and whites.

In Washington, Frey found that the average white person lives in a neighborhood that is 63 percent white, the average black person lives in a neighborhood that is 79 percent African American and the average Hispanic person lives in a neighborhood in which one out of four neighbors is Hispanic…

The District exhibited the most segregation overall under a measurement called the Index of Dissimilarity or, more commonly, the segregation index

At 74 percent, the District had the fifth-highest segregation level in the nation, and Virginia had one of the lowest, 50 percent. Maryland was in between, with 65 percent…

Who are the racists?

We have also this earlier report of more of the same, from an equally proud Baltimore Sun:

Maryland is wealthiest state, census data show

December 14, 2010|By Yeganeh June Torbati

Maryland has maintained its perch as the nation’s wealthiest state, according to data released Tuesday by the Census Bureau, though more residents in some suburbs were living in poverty than in 2000…

Among the findings:

Maryland’s median household income was nearly $70,000, ahead of Connecticut and New Jersey, and far above the nationwide median of about $51,400

Marylanders continued to have some of the nation’s longest driving commutes — about 31 minutes on average, virtually tied with New Yorkers…

And, apart from meaningless college degrees, exactly what does all of this wealth produce?

It’s not racism. It’s bird flocking.

The racism point is an interesting one.

I’ve known for years that the real racists in this country are liberals. The evidence is overwhelming. The Boston busing issue of years ago is the classic example, but there are many more. btw, racism is just as prevalent in Massachusetts today as it was then. The situation in the piece Steve quotes isn’t quite as obvious, but it simply builds the case. Consider:

    – Republicans have always been the pioneers in making substantial appointments for minorities.
    – Democrat policies inevitably hurt minorities. In the case of blacks, they have destroyed the black family, but there are many other examples.
    – witness the contempt liberals have for principled conservatives, Justice Thomas being the poster child
    – the many many slips of tongue by Democrat politicians on race
    – the fact that 7 of 7 congressmen being investigated for ethics violations are black. That is mathematically impossible
    – just listen to white people in liberal states. They are more segregated and more predjudiced.
    – the Black Caucus; nuff said

The root cause of liberal prejudice is that liberals have designed a system that allows their educated elites to only interact with “approved” minorities; i.e., the ones who have been selected for Affirmative Action. Meanwhile, the paid-off minority supporters only interact among themselves. But conservatives mainly live in the south and west and are more middle class than liberals (who are either the upper strata or lower strata of society). The middle class has lots of contact with minorities because the middle class uses the public school system, operates or work in small business, and have jobs that are less segregated than jobs that liberals have. Since contact with other races lessens animosities, conservatives are naturally less prejudiced.

Another factor is that liberals buy racism indulgences. By supporting re-distribution programs, they “forgive” themselves for their racism. And of course, they would never publically use a forbidden word or publicly admit to their true feelings, because they are natural liars.

Conservatives, on the other hand, have trouble lying. Instead, we speak our minds, and generally, our minds tell us there are racial tensions which we naturally acknowledge. And we talk about the numerous abuses in the systems that now favor minorities. And we talk about the ridiculous immigration policies of the country. So we are much more likely to say things that the hidden-racists in the liberal elite deem as racist, when in fact THEY are the racists. We are just people willing to discuss the obvious.

One other factor at work is the military and public service professions (police, firefighters, EMTs). They are all desegregated, and conservatives are prevalent. That doesn’t mean that there is a love affair between whites and other races, but as previously stated, it means that virulent hatred isn’t common either. People who have been in dangerous situations together are simply more honest about their feelings, and they also know that left to their own devices, most people get along quite easily. The racial problems in the public service professions primarilly arise because a fraction of minorities are targetted and inflamed by minority racist demagogues.

Of course, nobody in the public eye will ever acknoledge the truth of the real racism in the country. If they did, they would immediately be run out of business by the Racist Enforcers of the left, all of whom hold their positions as a result of affirmative action indulgences.

Huffing and Puffington did a full-fledged top story drive-by on Col. and soon to be Rep. West yesterday for voicing his honest mind about WikiWaif Assboy. “Tea Party Favorite Calls for Media Regulation” or something to that extent.

Heh. You just know West and Rubio scare the turds even more than Sarah, for exactly your listed reasons.

Washington DC (in Maryland) schools are in the top 3 worst educated public schools in the nation. I recently happened to look this up. They are at the top of list in “failing grades” in the country.

However, D.C. schools have all the best “computers, technology, education classes, free lunches, federal stimulus dollars coming in. They are also listed in the top 3 (believe #1) as the most violent area to live in, aside the “outside air” tests showing every illegal drug floating. I had a nephew that was shot in the head and killed by gangs in D.C. neighborhood.

  5. GetBackJack says:

BTW – Tranquil, I have to disagree with you on referencing West. His statement –

WEST: There are different means by which you can be attacked. I mean it doesnt have to be a bomb or an airplane flying into a building. It doesn’t have to be a shooting. It can be through cyber attacks, it could be through leaking of very sensitive classified information. Regardless of whether you think it causes any harm, the fact that here is an individual that is not an American citizen first and foremost, for whatever reason gotten his hands on classified American material and put it out there in the public domain. And I think that we also should be censoring the American news agencies which enabled him to do this and also supported him and applauding him for the efforts. So that’s kind of aiding and abetting of a serious crime.

… Censorship by any name is contrary to our national purpose. Secrecy Begets Tyranny. That said, “just because a man can, does not mean that he should”. Just because these media outlets came into possession of these cables (and note not one reference is ever given as to twice or three times verified through mutually independent sourcing) does not mean they should have run them, or an analysis of them. Being in control of media means responsibility and West is right in his inference.

A nation of the people, by the people and for the people and based on the idea of Freedom is messy. Freedom is Messy. It’s not yet proven in a Court of Law these are, in fact, legitimate authenticate cables as stated. But even if they are exactly as represented censorship of the press is too dangerous a road to tread as lightly or blithely as the Colonel’s statement implies.

From usually reliable sources we know in the past these outlets have published sources and methods and people and gotten many good folks killed. That is despicable, contemptible and criminal. That … should be prosecuted.

But Colonel West’s colorful statement, though ringing well in the ears of his camp, is damned dangerous stuff and causes me to regard him with a raised eyebrow.

Now, before anyone take offense (and yes, I’ve watched his YouTube videos and cheered) Colonel West could have but slightly modified his sentences to suggest “if a crime has taken place” instead of outright calling for censorship.

This is the first time in following him that he’s said something or done something that causes me to step back and reconsider.

“Rich” in dollars, only. “Educated” only in the sense of having the diploma and the high opinion of other lock-step ‘progressives’ who never question their fossilized Utopian fantasies. “Racist”, definitely.

They are the welfare kings and queens par excellence. Did you hear the Kennedys are listed to receive millions in the new budget? Earmarks, of course. And they accuse productive conservatives of being “greedy”. It’s beyond despicable.

*The wealthy and racist lecturing us about greed and racism….the nerve!

  8. canary says:

The “census data” figured out people’s wealth, the cost of their homes, and asked questions about racism?

It’s like when the cat is gone, the mouse come out and play. No one is watching. Books are cooked to a point they can’t be fixed. Growing fraud being committed.
    It’s a big Enron party.
