vdh wrote about that after his european trip a few weeks ago.

He said in Greece, as an example, the common pattern is to have a government job, which acts as the financial base, and then to have side jobs (which they do on government time) to have enough to live.

And cheating on taxes is considered normal. They don't understand why we make such a deal about it.

Such is one common adaptation to European Socialism.

But the Moron probably has a more gulag-oriented approach in mind, at least for whitey.

Is it bad that I'm seriously considering applying for a Federal job as it will likely be the only way to remain employed over the next 20 years or so?

DC also has one of the highest homicide rates in the country too. I've never had any desire to visit our nation's capitol. Save your money and go visit a place like Mount Rushmore. You will never cease to be amazed by the place.

The District of Columbia-I used to hear my parents speak of it in glowing terms when my mother was working for the FBI and my father was in the Navy in the early 1950's. The firs time I remember going there I was 7 & my mom's old friend worked at the White House so we got a private tour. I thought DC was pretty cool. Today I chalk it up to two young people being in love and we all know how rosy everything looks when you meet your future spouse or significant other. Even the air smells cleaner.
I guess when Timmy & crew run out of ink at the printing presses the DC employment rate will skyrocket.

The D.C. license plate bemoans the city's "taxation without representation". What a fitting slogan for a place run (into the ground) by the twin mentalities of victimhood and entitlement.

Imagine if D.C were a state. Besides providing sure Democrat congressional seats, it might be forced to live off of its own tax revenues. It might view its choice in leadership as consequential enough not to repeatedly elect a crack-smoker. It might not have a 1% H.I.V. infection rate. Maybe.

Many say CA is the state to look to if you want to see America's future under Obama. I think there's some truth to that but I think a more fitting metaphor for America under Obama is D.C. It's the municipal equivalent of a GSE. Local leaders have the coffers of the Federal government available to them; it's a built-in bailout. If D.C. had statehood in its future and all of the de facto Federal aid had to stop, it would end up on CA's shoes. The gravy train would stop eventually.

D.C. is like many folks who win the lottery--all that money just magnifies their worst flaws in judgment and character and they usually end up bankrupt in 5 years. Except D.C. wins the lottery every year; this year was a pretty big haul with Barry's deficit spending-palooza.

But if D.C. ever achieves statehood, I've already got its new state slogan, "The Welfare State".

Federal Taxes (including FICA/Medicare) are about 20% of the GNP.

Therefore, it takes 5 real jobs to support every federal job.

So every federal job INCREASES the private sector jobs that must be created, and INCREASES the pain of the recession/depression we are in, because private sector jobs are going down, not up.

And the really incidious part about it is that to unwind those worse-than-useless government jobs is nearly impossible, and even when a miracle happens and it is accomplished, then the people who had the jobs have to suffer. Not only do they lose their income, many of them are so indoctrinated with beaurocratic thought processes that they are unable to function in the private sector.
