Dem Fat Cat Begs Obama To Raise His Taxes

From Forbes:

Former Googler Asks Obama: Please Raise My Taxes!

9/26/2011

Former early Google employee Doug Edwards had a message for President Obama today: Raise my taxes, please.

Edwards, who was employee #59 at Google and is now not working, asked the question in Mountain View, Calif. at the Town Hall event today Obama held with LinkedIn to discuss job creation.

“My question is would you please raise my taxes?” Edwards said from the audience during the question and answer period.

According to FEC records, Mr. Doug Edwards has given $34,723 to Democrat candidates and the Democrat Party. So his selection to ask Mr. Obama a question was surely not a coincidence.

“I would like very much for our country to continue to invest in things like Pell grants, infrastructure, job training–programs that made it possible for me to get to where I am. It kills me to see Congress not supporting the expiration of tax cuts that have been benefiting so much of us for so long.”

Needless to say, Mr. Edwards could start a private scholarship. He could fund private job training programs. He could even invest some of his millions in a business that would hire people.

Moreover, as we have often mentioned before, there are any number of ways for people to pay more taxes should they choose to. They could refuse to take deductions. They could make direct donations to the US Treasury.

The plain truth is, Mr. Edwards does not just want to pay more to the government. He wants others to pay more. Otherwise, he would have offered to pay increased taxes for those who don’t want or can’t afford to pay more taxes. Which is the case for most of us.

After asking where Edwards formerly worked (to which Edwards replied coyly, “a search engine”), Obama said that the U.S. needs to invest in education and other infrastructure that makes people successful.

“We’re successful because somebody invested in our education,” Obama said. “Somebody built our schools. I went to school on scholarship… We all benefited somewhere from somebody making an investment in us. If we make those investments how do we pay for it?”

The US government collects somewhere close to $3 trillion dollars a year in taxes. You would think that should pay for something besides doomed solar panel companies.

Besides, someone should school Mr. Obama on the basics of the American system. The federal government was never meant to be the source for education funds in this country. The states fund education, primarily through their property taxes. Which, until very recently, have been at record heights.

Edwards, a former employee at the San Jose Mercury News and Markeplace, recently wrote a book entitled I’m Feeling Lucky: The Confessions of Google Employee Number 59.

What a surprise.

“Obama said that the U.S. needs to invest in education and other infrastructure that makes people successful.

Let’s examine that statement. Education alone doesn’t “make people successful” nor does “infrastructure” (whatever the hell that means). I have met a large number of over-educated idiots. As have many here, no doubt. The answer always comes down to the individual; How much effort are they willing to put into something, given the skills, education and desire they have? With a government that doesn’t stand in the way, by setting quotas, regulations and other draining things that suck the life out of a person or their desire.

I’m willing to excuse Mr Dumbass for thinking this for, after all, he’s “successful” by virtue of the fact that he was pushed along his whole life, never being very good at anything in particular, except, perhaps, bullshitting everyone in the room either to feel guilty and pass him, or by choosing words that sounded intelligent, but as we have come to learn, mean nothing.

But he never earned anything in his life. Other than perhaps less-than-stellar grades and given opportunities because he was a “clean, articulate guy with no negro dialect (unless he wanted one)”; The perfect candidate to receive fake, fawning approval from the guilt-ridden snot-nosed elites of the ivy-league set.

He is the A, number one best example today of why affirmative action is, was and always will be a bad idea.

Doug Edwards has given away at least $300,000 in political donations: http://www.campaignmoney.com/p.....p?cycle=10
This is a prime example of the Prog mentality to vote for, and support, redistributive policies with “other peoples money”, yet they will not support with their own accord.

Another frothy mixture. Why doesn’t this guy pay for a bunch of low income kids through college? – that’s what Pell grants do. Why must he wait for the government to do it? Or better yet, start a business and hire some low income people? Wouldn’t that give him some credibility on the raise my taxes issue? Or would that be too much work?

      you know the answer.

It’s not about taxes at all. If it was, the wealthy statists would do exactly as you say. Nothing prevents them from giving their entire forturnes to a benevolent government.

It’s about growing an all powerful state, which in turn, they think will insure their position in the marxist aristocracy for eternity and increase their personal power.

Isn’t it interesting, how even rich hollyweirdos take this approach? That “Yes, raise my taxes!” approach? For people whose lives are replete in “the method” of which understanding “what’s my mtivation?” is a huge part, isn’t it interesting that they so often fail to make the same assessment in their own personal lives?

Then, for the insanely rich who ask to have their taxes raised, do so on the assumption they are immune from anything bad or from falling off their wealth-wagon. But failure to properly assess what might happen when everything goes south, then they really aren’t so very smart at all, are they? Just insanely self-absorbed and as pro said, thinking they will ensure their position in the aristocracy. Which, is a very high-school level-of-play as far as social skills are concerned.

The US Government would blow through Warren Buffet’s entire net worth in less than 10 days. It would probably exhaust Mr. Edwards’ net worth in less time than it takes to pour a cup of coffee. The problem clearly isn’t taxes and these libs know it.

“What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?”,Jesus.
People like this who do anything for the “all powerfull state” remind me of the rich industrialists of Nazi Germany. They did make lots of money, and after all someone has to build the gas chambers and someone has to supply the chemicals and someone has to sell their soul and close their eyes and hope their is no God in heaven to hold them accountable in order for the state to gain ultimate power.

    RED ALERT—WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!

Liberal Playbook Trick: Always demand things you want OTHER PEOPLE to do.

Liberal Democrats say one thing, but in actuality OTHER PEOPLE will be punished by it. So you have a rich guy volunteer to have his taxes raised, but will most likely get some sort of kick-back for doing so, after 1000s of other rich guys (who don’t want their taxes raised) get mauled by the government.

Old Soviet Game, “Gold for Bread” campaign, to raid the churches, remove the gold and valuables from them, and give out a few loaves to the public, whilst keeping the rest for party members.
*I wonder how long it will be before the ‘eye of Sauron’ focuses its gaze upon American churches? Surly they will want to help the poor wouldn’t they?

I think Mr. Edwards’ idea is terrific. Mr. Obama should oblige him by raising his taxes. His taxes only. To 100%.
