Democrats Are $15M Short After Convention

From Bloomberg News:

Democrats Said to End Convention $15 Million Short

By Hans Nichols | Friday Sept 7, 2012

Democrats ended their convention in Charlotte $5 million short of their budget even after being forced to draw down a $10 million line of credit from Duke Energy Corp. (DUK), according to a Democratic Party fundraiser.

What a surprise, these people can’t run a simple convention without going millions over budget. Why would you expect anything else from the party of ‘always spend more than you have’?

Why should we think Democrats could run a country? (That’s a rhetorical question. We have seen how they run the country. The run it into the ground.)

That will leave a $15 million bill that eventually will have to be paid by President Barack Obama’s campaign or the Democratic National Committee, according to the fundraiser, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

The Charlotte Host Committee ended the convention with more than $5 million in immediate obligations and may require a direct cash infusion from the Obama campaign to pay vendors, said the fundraiser.

Which means the vendors are sure to be stiffed, since the Obama camp has already announced that they aren’t going to give the DNC any of their money.

But the Democrats and the Obama campaign have a long history of stiffing their vendors.

The $10 million line of credit to Duke Energy will need to be repaid next year, said a second person familiar with the matter, who also spoke on condition of anonymity…

Think of the irony of the Democrats having to beg for funds from an evil utility company. A company that makes its money burning coal.

Also, how many Duke Energy customers are now going to have to pay even higher utility bills thanks to the Democrats?

By the way, who gave Duke the permission to do this, anyway? Did Duke Energy’s customers sign off on this? Or is it like the way the unions take members dues and give them to the Democrats without any permission.

Maybe the Republican Duke customers should get some kind of a rebate on their utilities bills.

Duke Energy does not have to attempt to pay the 10 million bill til 2013. It’s going to be an expensive winter.

Something in my vast experience says the Dems will find a way to steal it from you and me, stiff Charlotte and keep it for themselves.

Who wants to bet against me?
