Dems try to spur oil exploration on available land

WASHINGTON - Seeking to blunt GOP efforts to permit oil exploration off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, House Democrats are pushing legislation they say would spur drilling on already available lands in Alaska, the West and the western Gulf of Mexico…
The Democratic bill would require a more active Interior Department leasing program on the reserve, which is located to the west of the off-limits Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, the subject of a long-standing battle between environmentalists and the oil lobby.
“Democrats brought forth their ‘Use It or Lose It’ bill without knowing it was already the law of the land,” said GOP Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo. “Today we’re reminded that the majority’s efforts to ‘unlock’ NPR-A are about as necessary as passing a bill ordering the sun to rise.”
The oil lease proposal is an effort by Democrats to counter a push by congressional Republicans to lift a long-standing drilling ban on most offshore U.S. waters…
Democrats are scrambling to appear pro-drilling — hence the “Drill Act” title for Thursday’s bill — even as leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., are dead set against reversing the long-standing drilling bans along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
Democrats say the industry should first go after oil and natural gas in areas where they hold leases. They also say Republicans are simply seeking political advantage with a pro-drilling plan that won’t deliver new U.S. oil for another decade or so, and that the GOP’s fixation on drilling is a smoke screen for the Bush administration’s inability to prevent the sharp spike in gasoline prices…
The unmitigated ignorance that the Democrats are showing about oil leases is typical of their ignorance on all issues.
Democrats say the industry should first go after oil and natural gas in areas where they hold leases.
As if the oil industry isn’t already doing that. Do the Democrats think that oil companies pay the exorbitant fees for oil leases for the fun of it?
They also say Republicans are simply seeking political advantage with a pro-drilling plan that won’t deliver new U.S. oil for another decade or so, and that the GOP’s fixation on drilling is a smoke screen for the Bush administration’s inability to prevent the sharp spike in gasoline prices.
What are the Democrats suggesting that will deliver new US oil immediately? This is a rhetorical question. These Solons aren’t suggesting anything that will give us new oil ever. They don’t want more oil.
And what is the Democrat solution to prevent sharp spikes in gas prices? More taxes?
This is full extent of the Democrats’ program: to demand that somehow, some way there is “clean energy.”
But of course Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats aren’t policy wonks. They have no idea how to effect any of this. And, indeed, they don’t want to be bothered with pesky details.
They will just demand “clean energy” until it happens.
Meanwhile, their lickspittle minions at the AP gave them exactly the headline they wanted. No matter what the rest of the article says.
Which is all that really matters to them.

This is too funny this shows how out of touch the democrats are on energy. These leases the oil companys have they have had a long time we all know that. Here is the problem the amount of crude oil or natural gas that is on the leased land will cost far to much at this time for what is there. The oil companys know where the mother load is an it is not on the leases that they have now.
Now if Congress will just do what is right for the American people we will get the relief at the gas pumps we need. If the oil companys can use the pipe lines that are already in place an just connect up to them it wont be 10 years just a few years. When winter hits this year how many people will go to far in debt over natural gas bills. It has been a estimate of a 60% rise in natural gas so a 100.00 dollar a month will be 160.00 So Congress get off your lazy backsides an do someting right finally..

FASCINATING !
Ironically, a lease an Oil Company has off the coast of Santa Barbara, has been halted in exploration for years, by the Liberal Extremes in the Courts. They may hold the lease, but the Democrat Partisans are still stopping the actual drilling for energy.
One must never forget, prior to the 2006 elections, Democrats RAN ON ending PORK!
How did that turn out?
Did they when they got the Majority?
Nope, they have increased Pork Spending (as well as other Spending) in massive fashion.
Sadly, many Liberals on the internet, on many message boards, blogs, etc., pretended to be upset about spending, trying to weaken Conservative support which was frustrated and losing sight of the big picture, the UGLY alternative of the Democrat Liberal Party.

Nancy Pelosi even infamously claimed al Qaeda was not in Iraq prior to the 2006 Elections, as al Qaeda in Iraq was still announcing their designs for death.
It was one of the biggest lies we have encountered in a long time, outside of the Clinton Machine…

Just like the Michael J. Fox ads, which said the Republicans are against scientific progress, and opposed to stem cell research. Which was a bold faced lie, as one of GW Bush’s Domestic Legacy Successes is the First President to ever Federally Fund Stem Cell Research. Fox and Democrats deceitfully leave out the ‘embryonic’ part of the issue. And many Americans bought the ugly lies.
As if one wouldn’t want ethical, responsible, restrictions regarding the scientific study of embryos?
Democrats for pure political manipulation and greed, seemed will to recklessly encourage an industry of pregnancy for the purpose of peddling donor embryos.
They actually tried to make it appear as if the failure to not include funding of embryos was immoral, without contemplating the enormous ramifications of this implication.
So now the Democrat Party which said it was ‘fiscally responsible’ prior to 2006, is pushing more big fat lies about drilling for OIL?

GW Bush stopped so much of the Democrat Folly in the House and Senate, like the attempt to force a US defeat in Iraq, but he won’t be there in 2008.

It wouldn’t take 10 years to make more fuel available, The first wells could probably producing within one year. It may take 10 years to reach full production, but we’d start to see the benefits much sooner than that.
Actually the price on crude would start to drop immediately. No speculator in the commodity markets would want to be the last one left holding the bag as crude prices started to drop. The resulting sell off would probably drop prices pretty quickly.

You have to realize that the Democrats and their drive by parrot the AP are talking to their voters, think really dumb and not very knowledgeable.
Most knowledgeable people say ANWR would be on-line producing in under two years, same it true for the 15 billion barrels off the California coast. The Destin Dome was already explored, when they went back for the production leases, the government said no. There is enough natural gas in the Destin Dome for who knows how long — Some say the Destin Dome could supply all the needs of Florida for 30 years.

The democrats are purposefully howling for oil companies to drill on land that has NO OIL! The leases have been allowed to expire because there is NO OIL to drill for! This hypocrisy knows no bounds….and yes bill…the democrats are depending on voters being stupid. They got into office, so that proves that stupid voters exist.
We need to drill for oil where there is oil. Period. Stop the rhetoric, stop the BS, stop the obstructionist partisan crap and open the United States to it’s existing resources. Oil fell over 15 dollars a barrel just because of the tacit threat that we would finally act. It would fall over sixty dollars the minute ALL of our reserves became fair game.
Why the democrats are resisting the will of over sixty percent of the people defies imagination. The “American People” they claim to be speaking for is only a miserable 9 per cent of voters…….and they are mostly far left liberals and eco freaks. Shut the hell up, sign the legislation necessary to get our country independent once and for all.
Al Gore states we can be dependent free in ten years if we use only wind, solar, and bio fuels for all our needs. He is an ignorant fat pig. Punch his tubby stupid face in by calling your representitive and demanding we DRILL HERE…DRILL NOW!
