Dems ‘To Deem’ An Alternative Budget

From The Hill:

House Dems prepare alternative to budget that would avoid deficit vote

By Walter Alarkon – 06/20/10

House Democrats are readying an alternative budget measure that would set next year’s spending levels without requiring a vote on deficits.

House Budget Committee Chairman John Spratt (D-S.C.) said the alternative would be the “functional equivalent” of a full-fledged budget. But because it won’t be a traditional budget resolution, it will be silent on future deficits, which are expected to average nearly $1 trillion for the next decade.

Democrats have expressed concern about voting for a document showing lots of red ink in an election year.

This is that “New Era Of Fiscal Responsibility” that Mr. Obama promised us:

Copies of an overview of U.S. President Barack Obama’s budget for fiscal 2010 are lined up on a table at the U.S. General Printing Office in Washington, February 26, 2009.

This is that ‘Honest Leadership and Open Government’ that he and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid pledged we would have once the Democrats took control of Congress.

A traditional budget resolution sets the discretionary spending levels and also lays out the majority’s fiscal policies for future years. Alternative budget measures, known in past years as “deeming resolutions,” set spending caps but lack the statement on future spending and tax policies.

So now the Democrats are going ‘deem’ that they have presented a budget. They really are courageous, are they not?

House Republicans have seized on Democrats’ inability to even bring up a budget resolution for consideration. The budget rules call on lawmakers to pass a budget by April 15.

The rules in Congress are only for Republicans.

Republicans had control of the House the previous four times Congress failed to approve a final budget resolution since 1974, when the current budget rules were put in place.

How thoughtful of The Hill to point this out.

And never mind that the the current budget rules now in place include a ‘budget reconciliation’ process which was intended to avoid precisely the previous kind of budget haggles that had tripped up those four previous budgets. Which is why there have been budget resolutions ever since 1974.

Instead, the Democrat Congress has chosen to use ‘Budget Reconciliation’ to be used to ram through their massive and wildly unpopular ‘healthcare reform’ entitlement – against the direct and expressed meaning of the process.

But should Democrats move forward with an alternative budget measure, it would be the first time the House had failed to even propose a budget resolution

Yes, in Mr. Obama’s favorite word this would be “unprecedented.”

But that is what happens when you have a revolution taking place right before your eyes.

I was reading this opinion piece by Shelby Steele in the WSJ online and quite interestingly, while discussing the odd political correctness of “world opinion” that ignores attacks by terrorists but shames Israel for upholding a blockade, the author accidentally, and quite unintentionally hits upon a very apt descriptor of our boy-in-man-pants president.

The author was actually discussing the third-world, self-described “victims”.

And the quickest cover for inferiority is hatred. The problem is not me; it is them. And in my victimization I enjoy a moral and human grandiosity—no matter how smart and modern my enemy is, I have the innocence that defines victims. I may be poor but my hands are clean. Even my backwardness and poverty only reflect a moral superiority, while my enemy’s wealth proves his inhumanity.

In other words, my hatred is my self-esteem.

How interesting that these words so accurately lay bare the president’s own attitude and petulance.

Even his hatred is a lie.

Were it not for the color of his skin, he would be a tour guide in Honolulu.

Quite possibly. But whether fabricated in his own head or a fact, the results are the same. Internally, he is furious and when people disagree with him, he hasn’t the capacity to be introspective and examine his own motives in a self-critiquing manner. That is, holding the possibility that he could be wrong.

Hatred takes many forms and can even manifest itself as overcompensation to be generous to those parties who are the hated of your enemy. Behold, Israel, Great Britain. Israel being the representation of individual strength incarnate, while he has some personal vendetta against the Brits which may just be childish (and inaccurate) grudge holding, or, knowing it ticks off the vast majority of conservative thinkers, it gives him great pleasure.

Although he’s a social cripple, I never doubt the complexity of how, when a person if his ilk, puts things into motion, any unintended chaos that results pleases the boy. However, that pleasure only lasts so long when he has to move onto another thing to satisfy that anger, that hatred.

Indeed, this guy has never BUILT anything. Not even a crappy birdhouse from 8th grade shop class. (powertools scare him, no doubt) and has no concept of how building anything works. Oh, he can talk a good game but he cannot connect the dots from a blueprint to gathering materials and tools, to assessing how best to go about it to final product.

Most males have a natural instinct for this, and many women as well. But I speak of his metro-sexual-ness that frustrates him. He’s no man I would ever want to hang around with. Anything that involves getting dirty frightens him. Much like Nixon.

I’m simply satisfied at this point that we have yet again elected a mentally deficient, socially handicapped and irreparably damaged human being to the highest office of the land. His hatred, at least to me, is evident. Not all of it is a lie. He hates himself, what his parents “did to him” and “what the world as a whole did to him”. So, he’s seeking revenge, at least in part and may not even be aware that he’s doing it. His actions reveal his inner self, as they do all people.

We all know the list of behavior flaws from when he stepped out of the “beer summit” solo when the professor needed assistance, to how he tentatively “examined” the oil coming ashore, to how long it took to respond to it, to a million other things that tell us more about him every day.

He is angry and he hates pretty much everyone. Including himself.
