Dems Want Issa Stripped Of Chair For Disrespect

From a smoldering with rage Washington Post:

Clash between Issa, Cummings latest partisan spat to divide House oversight committee

By Wesley Lowery and Josh Hicks | March 6, 2014

The war between Democrats and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the controversial chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, took on a new intensity Thursday when some Democratic lawmakers called for Issa to be stripped of his committee chairmanship.

“Mr. Issa is a disgrace and should not be allowed to continue in a leadership role,” Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (D-Ohio), who leads the Congressional Black Caucus, wrote in a strongly worded letter to House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio)…

And naturally the DNC’s news media have taken up the cause. As NewsBusters has noted, CNN’s Erin Burnett also asked Elijah Cummings if Issa shouldn’t lose his chairmanship over this outrage. (Ms. Burnett wanted an objective opinion.)

In the letter to Boehner, Democrats described the behavior as “outrageous” and “disrespectful.” …

These are clearly the focus group tested words of the day. Especially, since a rich white man ‘disrespected’ a black man. And never mind that it was Cummings who ‘disrespected’ Issa and the rules of Congress by violating the long established rules. In fact, if you watch the video clip closely you will see that Cummings is reading from notes. And you will also see how phony his ‘outrage’ is.

After all, if Cummings is so concerned about being ‘disrespected,’ where is his outrage when Obama ‘disrespects’ all of the members of Congress by bypassing them, and re-writing their legislation or just ignoring it?

House Democrats also introduced a resolution Thursday reprimanding Issa, but the chamber voted along party lines to table it.

They have such high standards.

Cummings told reporters Thursday that several Republican members of the committee have since apologized to him for Issa’s conduct.

Later Thursday, Issa told U-T San Diego that he had reached out to Cummings and apologized.

“I could have offered to reopen the hearing and allowed him to make a second statement,” Issa told the newspaper. “As chairman, I should have been much more sensitive to the mood of what was going on, and I take responsibility.” …

Friction between Issa and Cummings, neither of whom has established a reputation for diplomacy, stands in contrast to other committee leaders who have found ways to collaborate on controversial issues…

If only the House could enjoy the same kind of collegiality they have over in the Senate under Harry Reid.

“What happened was so outrageous, so demeaning, so unjudicial, so awful in every respect,” said Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (N.Y.), senior Democrat on the House Rules Committee, who added that “we just absolutely have reached a boiling point.” …

Those criticism were echoed by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who told reporters at her weekly news briefing that Issa’s behavior toward Cummings was disrespectful. She also said she was surprised that Boehner is standing by the California congressman.

“I can’t see how Republicans wouldn’t be running . . . to disassociate themselves from such behavior,” she said. “You would think they would be heading to the hills.”

They are so subtle, aren’t they.  Meanwhile, we are supposed to forget how the Democrats treat Republicans when they are in the majority. How they literally lock Republicans out of hearings, turn off their microphones and even turn off the lights.

In fact, we are also supposed what Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and the rest of the Democrats thugs say and do practically every day. Which is why so many Republicans in Congress still suffer from ‘battered wife syndrome’ to this day.

Issa should have laughed at Cummings. I am ..

Just imagine if the IRS were conducting an audit of an American citizen who refused to produce requested documents and met every question with an assertion of the 5th Amendment protection…just imagine what would happen to that person. Would the democrat party or the news media spend two seconds bemoaning the auditors who were so disrespectful in closing the audit hearing (just before they clamped leg irons on the citizen)?

If Issa is removed as chairman, he should be replaced by another Congressman who’s a real pit bull. Somebody with real teeth.

    Maybe Trey Gowdy.

Or better still, Preston “bully” Brooks (Oh, where are you when we really need you, Preston?).

    • yadayada says:

the house needs to appoint Gowdy as speaker to replace the weak and impotent boner.

Issa has bite. That is why the Democrats want him gone.

Cummings put on a show when in reality he does not want this investagiation going forward.
He and the Democrats have not pushed for this investigation one bit.
Cumming’s concern is that the WH was not invovled.
This is kind of long, and I think Issa shows he has bite.
Issa tells that he thinks Lerners e-mails point to the scandel starting when the POTUS chewed out the Supreme Court’s decision in an earlier State of the Union speech in 2010.

recap and footage of Obama bullying the Surpeme Court in front of the world. Shocking.

This is kind of long, but when you see and hear the e-mails the oversight committee waited months and months
to get you will be angered.

If you recall Obama’s special interest non-profit organization change org move on org that helped him get elected got permission once he was elected to continue and expand and continues to expand. And then look at all the non-profit global this and that, environmental groups, that give money to Obama.
While he recently played golf in Calfornia he stayed with one of the most richest Americans in the World and met privately with the King of Jordan! $.

One of the e-mails was going after Citizens United which is ready to go infront of the Supreme Court that was outrageously bullied and intimidated by Obama in front of the entire world.

In my opinion there is a lot of evidence that this targeting came from the very top and I believe the Supreme Court.

Lerner is calling Citizens United dangerous and that everyone is upset. And if Harry Reid lying through his teeth and slandering that Koch brothers horror stories are all lies and you see the DOJ going after freedom of the speech.

NBC is growing and spun off so many new names they have more power than any other media and they are liberal as can be.

Newsweek: Justices Poised to Rule on Citizens United 2

    By Matthew Cooper – 3/6/14

The ruling was decried by Democrats and hailed by most Republicans and led to an arms
    race in campaign spending–

one that, ironically, the Democrats joined and have done well at.

Last year, the three biggest Democratic super congressional election PACs raised over
$22 million— four times more than the total raised by their five GOP rivals

It’s hard to predict the fallout for the parties if the court limits itself to chucking the aggregate limits. Democrats have raised money aggressively in the post Citizens United era and they could probably compete well if aggregate limits get thrown out, even as they fight to keep the current law intact.

Ah, the Legions of Perpetual Outrage have begun the Kabuki Dance of the Selectively Blind. It seems to be a tradition among this interesting tribe as they hop around and scream for the cameras before heading home to perform the exact same indignities that they protest so much.
