Dems Won’t Promise US Out Of Iraq By 2013

From a deeply saddened Associated Press:

Dems can’t make guarantee on Iraq troops

By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer Thu Sep 27

The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.

“I think it’s hard to project four years from now,” said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation’s first primary state.

“It is very difficult to know what we’re going to be inheriting,” added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

“I cannot make that commitment,” said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina…

[Hillary Clinton was later] asked whether she would ever approve torturing a suspected terrorist to prevent the detonation of a big bomb.

She said no, and Russert said former President Clinton, her husband, once suggested it might be appropriate.

“Well, he’s not standing here right now,” she said, an edge in her voice…

Edwards sought to draw a distinction between his position and Clinton’s, saying she had said recently she wants to continue combat missions in Iraq.

“I do not want to continue combat missions in Iraq,” he said.

Clinton responded quickly, saying Edwards had misstated her position. She said she favors the continued deployment of counterterrorism troops, not forces to engage in the type of combat now under way.

Asked whether they were prepared to use force to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power, several of the hopefuls sidestepped. Instead, they said, all diplomacy must be exhausted in the effort.

Moderator Tim Russert of NBC News asked about Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani’s pledge to set back Iran by eight to 10 years if it tries to gain nuclear standing.

Biden flashed anger at the mention of the former New York mayor. “Rudy Giuliani doesn’t know what the heck he’s talking about,” said Delaware senator, who is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

He’s the most uninformed person on foreign policy that’s now running for president.” …

Oh, my sides.

[Hillary Clinton was later] asked whether she would ever approve torturing a suspected terrorist to prevent the detonation of a big bomb.

She said no…

This answer alone demonstrates conclusively that Hillary Clinton is not a responsible person.

She is certainly not a person who should ever be trusted with the Presidency.

Translation: The Surge is Working and we want to win - so we will pander a bit toward the middle to garner a few votes from those who are not foaming at the mouth lunatics -since those guys really stepped into the political doo doo and we have to distance ourselves a bit from them. [And secretly we hope that the VRWC destroys those annoying moonbats - so we don't have to pander to them again]

In otherwords we were for the War before we were against the War before we decided to not commit to a firm answer - all just to get a few votes.

    Political Whores all.

Do they have one of these fashion shows every week? Geeeeeeess…

What happened to….”the day I’m inaugurated I will end the war”? If I could go there without contaminating my laptop, I’d love to see the reaction to this at kos, du and huffpo. They must be going crazy, foaming at the mouth, stroking out or flat-line-ing……we can only hope.

What happened to….”the day I’m inaugurated I will end the war”?

The August recess where they had to talk to the people who actualy vote in elections.

  5. Grant

How did we ever get here? We are actually talking about Hillary “wife of” Bill Clinton in the same sentence with president??? I sometimes feel I’ll wake up and it’ll be one weird dream. This is the same woman that botched the Ed system in AK, a mediocre attorney, carpet bagged it to NY, failed in practically everything she’s done…except hitch her wagon into power? What has she done as a Senator from NY? The presidency is not and shouldn’t be a turn-by-turn office. So after Bill, its now her turn? When did we promise her that!!!

Folks, I still think I’m dreaming…please somebody wake me up when it’s over.

  6. Warmonger Infidel

We hate to tell you Grant….but your dream is actually your worst nightmare. The kind of nightmare you never wake up from. Hill and Bill…her as POTUS, him as King of the World. That’s the plan you know.

  7. Lipstick on a PIAPS

What ever happenced to the 2006 mid-term elections were a referendum on the Iraq war? If THAT was true then why aren’t ALL of the Presidential candidates jumping on the run out of Iraq position!?! Guess THAT myth has now been destroyed. LOL

  8. Grant

Warmonger Infidel, please turn off the light…I’m in deep slumber.

The DNC debate reminded me of Stephen Sondheim’s Judy Collins 1960’s hit “Send in The Clowns”. I downloaded the lyrics & they were freakin’ prophetic. A Liberal’s Book of Revelations.

I even inserted commentary in reference to fulfillments of this prophetic song. WARNING: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART! Let me try this again.

    Send in the clowns
    (as sung by Judy Collins)

    Is - n’t it rich? Aren’t we a pair?

(Yeah, since that cattle futures deal back in the ‘80’s not to mention all those no interest loans for our Westchester & Washington mansions. Not bad for a couple of hippies – AND YOU GET TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE – BTW – WHAT WAS THAT PRICE AGAIN?)

Me here at last on the ground, and you in mid-air –

(The ground being Washington DC & the air meaning Bill off to Brazil, again)>

    Send in the clowns.

    (Obvious reference to the DNC)

Is - n’t it bliss? Don’t you approve?

(meaning, “I can’t believe they’re buying this stuff. And, Even if we don’t, they really couldn’t care less).

One who keeps tear - ing around, and one who can’t move.

(Obvious reference to Bill with secondary mention of Hillary)

But where are the clowns? Send in the clowns.

(meaning, “We Need to Move Our People In.”)

Just when I stopped opening doors,

(Bill screaming: “No wait! Not that one to the pantry just off the Oval Office. I’m, I’m – Not Alone).

    Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours;

(Bill again, “How the hell was I supposed to know she was your roommate in college?!”)

Making my entrance again with my usual flair,

(“Wave, bite lip, wave, point to someone in the audience”)

Sure of my lines — no one is there.

    (Hillary’s, “I’VE – COME – TOO FARRRRR!!”)

    Don’t you love farce? My fault, I fear;

(“I can’t believe people buy this crap!”)

I thought that you’d want what I want - sorry my dear.

(Bill apologizing, “Well, yeah, sure, but HOW’D THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW SHE WAS YOUR ROOMMATE IN COLLEGE?!”)

But where are the clowns? Quick, send in the clowns.

“Listen if we don’t have enough of our own damn clowns, we’re going to have to import them from Mexico. I don’t care if you have to dig up the ones who died. WE NEED MORE DAMN CLOWNS!!!”)

    Don’t bother, they’re here.

    “Thanks Arnold!”

Is - n’t it rich? Is - n’t it queer,

(Actually, she’s not gay. Just all her friends are. And who would have predicted that the Gay Network would sponsor a presidential debate anyway?!”)

Los - ing my tim - ing this late in my career?

(“Sure, you can sit there with your little hatchet job & that smug little smirk on your face.”)

But where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns…

(“They’re stuck on the border, Sir! John McCain flipped on us!”)

    Well, maybe next year.

    (God! I Hope Not!)

The Dems still drag out that Mandate of the People - cut and run from Iraq - every now and then - so how much of a Mandate? ?? - Rush mentioned today that the cut and run weasels in DC have submitted 55 resolutions to cut and run (or set a timetable to cut and run) and not a single one has passed - some Mandate.

These moroons need a dictionary and a Constitution FAST.

Reality Bytes….oh no!……that was great. hahahahaha! You need to make that into a parody! Nothing like light heartedness and jocularity on a Friday.

You and artboy are too much! (In a good way) LOL

    Have a great weekend!

Have you heard about the hills new “chicken in every pot” brainstorm? She announced today that she wants to give every baby born in the U.S. a $5000 “Baby Bond” that will draw interest until the baby grows up and will be used for college or buying that first home. Wow. Every baby probably includes anchor babies. What a deal eh? Oh, wonder who pays for that. Approximately 4 million babys are born in the U. S. each year. Do the math. Of course this is in addition to the “free” health care. This witch isn’t even nominated yet and she wants your entire paycheck.

Oh yeah SG….the “I’m in to win” speech. The “we will take our country back” speech. The “I’m here to start a conversation” speech. The one that made me puke. The “If we as congress don’t end this war by January 2009, I will”. What an evil, two faced, hateful and lying bitch. Thanks for reminding us.

This is good news: the DNC candidates won’t promise to be out of Iraq by 2013. You know what a politician’s promise is worth. How much is a liberal Democrat’s promise to you, anyway? This is one less promise to break.

Remember who said: “Read my lips: no new taxes.”
