DHS To Probe Charges Of Abuse Of Illegal Alien ‘Kids’

From the New York Times:

Officials to Investigate Reports of Mistreatment of Minors Caught Crossing Border

By JULIA PRESTON | June 12, 2014

Border officials opened an investigation on Thursday into claims by legal aid groups that border agents were mistreating unaccompanied minors caught crossing the Southwest border illegally.

Were they denied access to family planning services? Was their gender identity questioned? Of course if there is even one smidgen of evidence of abuse, they must be all be allowed to stay in the US. And to send for their relatives. That’s only fair.

And the abuse should be easy enough to proves. Since, as we have previously noted, DHS mandates that Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) receive a complete medical examination that includes screening for infectious disease within 48 hours of capture. And them must also receive “appropriate immunizations,” emergency health care services, and “family planning services,” and routine medical and dental care, and prescription drugs, special diets, and mental health intervention as needed.

Moreover, the residential care providers must provide these services in a manner that is sensitive to the age, culture, religion, dietary needs, native language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and other important individual needs of each UAC. — So you can see how this would be manna from heaven for Eric Holder’s lawyers.

At a news conference in Washington, the commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, Gil Kerlikowske, said he had ordered internal investigators to examine a complaint filed Wednesday by five legal groups. The complaint was based on interviews with 116 youths, in which they reported being deprived of food and medical care while in Border Patrol holding cells. Some reported physical abuse…

The complaint of abuse was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona and the National Immigrant Justice Center in Chicago, among other groups…

Probably including La Raza. But say no more. In fact, it’s painfully clear that the only way to treat these illegal alien ‘children’ humanely is to send them home right away.

And, if that is not acceptable, send them to the ACLU’s chapters all across the fruited plane.
