DOJ Investigating IRS Emails, House Blocks IRS Bonuses

From the Associated Press:

Justice Dept. Investigating Missing IRS Emails

July 17, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department is investigating the circumstances behind the disappearance of emails from a former senior Internal Revenue Service official, part of a broader criminal inquiry into whether the agency had targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, according to congressional testimony released Wednesday.

In a statement to be delivered to a congressional committee on Thursday, Deputy Attorney General James Cole says investigators are looking into emails that went missing from the computer of Lois Lerner…

"The IRS investigation was launched by the department without hesitation and immediately after Ms. Lerner publicly acknowledged the potential misconduct," Justice Department spokeswoman Emily Pierce said in a statement. The probe remains a top priority for the department, she said…

Really? How come we never even heard of its existence before, if it is so important and it has been going on for so long?

But maybe this news from The Hill finally forced the DOJ to at least pretend to take some action:

House votes to block bonuses at the IRS

By Cristina Marcos | July 16, 2014

The House on Wednesday approved legislation that would prohibit performance bonuses for senior executives at the Internal Revenue Service. Rep. Paul Gosar’s (R-Ariz.) amendment to the fiscal 2015 Financial Services appropriations bill was approved on a 282-138 vote, with one member voting present.

Gosar argued senior officials at the IRS should not be eligible for performance awards in light of the ongoing controversy over the agency’s scrutiny of conservative nonprofits applying for tax-exempt status….

"Giving out bonuses is ludicrous and amounts to a slap in the face to the American public," Gosar [said].

Rep. José Serrano (D-N.Y.), the top Democrat on the House Appropriations Financial Services subcommittee, said banning performance bonuses would only bring down morale at the IRS and unfairly target government employees…

Good. Now they will know what it feels like to be unfairly targeted.

    That’s a good start.

They can also block bonuses for:
DOJ until a real investigation happens.
ICE, US Customs and Border Portal, etc until we get the border is secured.
NASA until their Muslim outreach programs end.
EPA until onerous new programs are repealed.
US Dept of Education eliminates Common Core

and I’m just getting warmed up….If only they’d do this on a larger scale or eliminate entire departments.

I agree. I heard ICE is on paid leave told not to work.

The idea of Border Patrol and ICE agents being told to stand down is nothing new. Last year, Shawn Moran, Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council, revealed that Border Patrol management had, “begun the practice of ordering Border Patrol Agents to stand down and cease pursuing drug smugglers, human smugglers and traffickers, and illegal aliens.”

The Catholic Charities USA are handling all “processing”, sponsering, housing, free legal aid for the hearings illegal immigrant children are required to recieve. I had checked out their websites and it was straight up in the face getting volunteers and jobs and discriptions.

IRS “… amendment to the fiscal 2015 Financial Services appropriations bill…” A little late

At least the liberals are focused on telling bosses to stay out women’s uteruses.
