Duck Dynasty Star ‘Facially’ Profiled (Like Oprah)

From USA Today:

‘Duck Dynasty’ star: I was victim of ‘facial profiling’

Employee kicked Jase Robertson out when he asked for bathroom.

Arienne Thompson | August 15, 2013

In an incident of what Duck Dynasty star Jase Robertson calls "facial profiling," he was escorted out of a swanky NYC hotel after a staff member assumed he was an undesirable sort…

And he’s not even fat. He’s just ‘husky.’ However, he does wear a long scraggily beard. And he was probably ‘dressed down.’ And, worse yet, he also has a Southern accent.

"I asked where the bathroom was and he said, ‘Right this way, sir.’ He was very nice," Robertson shared on Live With Kelly & Michael. "He walked me outside, pointed down the road and said, ‘Good luck.’"

And Mr. Robertson even has an American Express ‘Quack Card.’

But, unlike The Oprah’s Swiss handbag clerk, this hotel employee has no excuse for not recognizing Mr. Robertson. ‘Duck Dynasty’ is a smash hit in every demographic. Though it might not score well with metrosexual NYC hotel employees.

From Variety:

‘Duck Dynasty’ Premiere Shatters Cable Records With 11.8 Million Viewers

By Rick Kissell | August 15, 2013

A&E had the competition ducking for cover Wednesday, as its redneck reality smash “Duck Dynasty” kicked off its new season with a whopping 11.8 million viewers — the largest audience ever for a non-fiction cable series.

The show about a Louisiana family also set an A&E record as the biggest telecast in the network’s history in all key demos.

In adults 18-49, “Duck Dynasty” did a huge 5.0 rating (roughly 6.3 million viewers in the age group), up 26% from last year and a higher same-night rating than any series telecast on television since an April 15 episode of NBC’s “The Voice.”

The only cable reality show to ever draw more adults 18-49 was TLC’s “Jon & Kate” in June 2009 (6.5 million).

Among adults 25-54, “Duck Dynasty” drew 6.3 million viewers to top the previous cable reality record set by “Trading Spaces” nearly 10 years ago…

Meanwhile, where are The Oprah’s ratings?

    “its redneck reality smash”

The term redneck is used ostensibly as a pejorative by high minded liberal writers who wish to denigrate oafish southerners. It is therefore racists; unless you are a redneck then it is “your word.” But it is ok to make fun of white people. I’m sure the NAAWP will call the DOJ and demand an investigation.

  2. This was clearly a Hate Crime. There must be massive lawsuits, media outrage and spittle flying from jowls as demands are made … media complicit in the Hate Crime – they’re not revealing which hotel would allow such profiling to occur.

    I demand Sensitivity Sessions

  3. I read in another version of this story that Jase Robertson said the hotel employee was very kind to him but he just escorted him out the door and pointed him down the street with a pat on the back and a wish of ‘Good luck’. An honest mistake in the eyes of Mr. Robertson and he saw no harm in it.
He didn’t throw a fit or make a scene. He just walked back in with his wife and explained he was a guest to a very apologetic clerk.

You see Oprah, that’s called class!

PS. I’ve never seen this show, but I might give it a look this weekend.

    • Liberals Demise

      Please do.
You’ll find it clean, wholesome entertainment with the family
gathered at the dinner table. Complete with a prayer and blessing to God.
No profanity and yet still funny.
A lost art in today’s media.

    • I’ve taken to watching YouTube where I have my choice of entertainment. Old movies and mostly British TV that are superior to todays trash. Better writing, directing and even the camera work/ cinematography is better.

I avoid the three ‘H’s’. Ho’s, heroin addicts and homosexuals.
