Editor Gets 3 Years For Mohammed Cartoon
From those defenders of the faith at the Associated Press:
Belarus editor jailed for Islam cartoon
By YURAS KARMANAU, Associated Press Writer Fri Jan 18
MINSK, Belarus - A Belarus court sentenced a newspaper editor Friday to three years in prison for reprinting a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad that sparked worldwide riots when it was initially published in a Danish newspaper…
Security officers in Belarus launched an investigation of Sdvizhkov in February 2006 when he published the caricatures which had originally appeared in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
Fiery protests swept across Muslim countries in early 2006 in reaction to the Danish publication.
President Alexander Lukashenko ordered the paper shut the following month, calling the publication of the cartoon “a provocation against the state.” Sdvizhkov was arrested and charged with “inciting religious hatred” in November 2007 when he returned to Belarus following several months of living in Russia and Ukraine.
The Minsk City Court imposed its sentence Friday after a closed-door trial. Sdvizhkov said he would appeal.
Belarusian Islamic leader Ismail Voronovich called the sentence excessively harsh.
The ex-Soviet republic is overwhelmingly Orthodox Christian; less than 1 percent of the country’s 10 million is Muslim.
In the 14 years he has been in power, Lukashenko has run the country with an iron fist, quashing opposition groups, closing down independent media and restoring Soviet-style, central controls to the economy.
This nonsense will never end apparently.
Worse yet, one has to wonder what will be the functional equivalent of a Mohammed cartoon under the iron-fisted reign of Madam Hillary.

Cool! And how do they handle anti-Christian cartoons and jokes? Never mind. I’m pretty sure I know the answer.

anti Christian anything is considered a right of free speech and expression, even in dictatorships. Only when Islam is impugned is when it becomes a hate crime worthy of murder. Muslims world wide know this, and use it against every segment of society. Personally, that cartoon is nothing compared to how I would portray that fat pig licking pedophile. Once people get it through their thick skulls that Islam is as much a religion as democrats are patriotic and honest…..only then will they be dealt with in the only manner they understand. Brutal force. Oh, just for the record, I dont really care for Islam much…..I know most of you were wondering……..

Hey, isn’t this just another take on the Ford’s “Better Idea” campaign? OK. So instead of a light bulb, it’s a bomb. It’s only a cultural difference, but probably means the same thing to an Islamofascist.

Richard Dawkins is allowed to impugne my religion and the champagne socialists start humping his leg. However, when someone makes a harmless cartoon depicting Mohammed, they get a few years in jail. Ouch.
What’s that wooshing sound? Oh yeah, freedom of speech being thrown out of the window.
