Emails Show Boehner Lobbied For O-Care Subsidy

From the New York Post:

Boehner’s ploy to save pols’ perks

By Andy Soltis | October 2, 2013

The battle over ObamaCare got so dirty Tuesday that Democrats leaked embarrassing e-mails showing how Republican House Speaker John Boehner hid his efforts to protect long-standing health-care subsidies for members of Congress and their staffers.

Boehner publicly demanded an end to those benefits on Monday, as the GOP continued its trench warfare against ObamaCare. “Why don’t we make sure that every American is treated just like we are?” he asked.

But e-mails from February to July showed how Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid lobbied President Obama to save the subsidies — setting up a meeting so secret that Boehner’s office tried to disguise it as a discussion on immigration.

Imagine dealings that are so dirty you have to try to disguise them as talking about amnesty.

“We can’t let it get out there that this is for [Boehner] and [Reid] to ask the President to carve us out of the requirement of Obamacare,” Boehner’s chief of staff, Mike Sommers, wrote to Reid’s top aide, David Krone, on July 17.

If this is true, it’s quite demoralizing. But, unfortunately it’s not all that surprising.

“This is a little bit more difficult because it isn’t a routing meeting because [House Minority Leader Nancy] Pelosi and [Senate Minority Leader Mitch] McConnell won’t be there,” Sommers said in the e-mail, leaked to Politico.

“I am even ok if it is the President hauling us down to talk about the next steps on immigration,” the e-mail continued.

Sommers wrote that any cover story would do as long as it concealed the true purpose of the meeting with Obama. “I really don’t care what it is about[,] it just can’t be about what we know it is about!” he said.

Leaking communications between top Capitol Hill staffers is a gross violation of Washington etiquette.

Boehner’s office denounced the leak as “just a desperate act by Harry Reid’s staff to protect their own subsidy.” …

Well, we are sure Boehner’s right about that. Reid will resort to anything to get his way.

Boehner’s got to go! The crying game is over.

Ted Cruz had to go over to the HOUSE to help Boehner FIND HIS BALLS!

Holy Crap, what TRASH we have put up with! Boehner, Scarbourough, McCain, Mulkowski, Specter, Jim Jeffords, Olympia Snow, Colin Powell, THE ENTIRE BUSH FAMILY.

1 by 1, not matter what the issue is, how much money it takes, NO ONE should donate 1 second of time or money until each of these RINOs are replaced with someone competent. You live in New York? Doesn’t matter, NOTHING gets done, unitl ARIZONA gets rid of McCain. And on down the line they fall. You have to be 1 issue participants, and focus on the target just like Saul Alinsky would. It’s better to attack 1 thing at a time, and be focused, rather that CHASE YOUR TAIL for decades and get nothing done.

Republicans really need my expertise on these things. They are completely lost on every battle front, from the internet, to media, to marketing, to strategy.

Amen! I got four emails yesterday, in addition to the 20 or so last month alone, from my county GOP treasurer, begging for money, asking for my time, inviting me to a $40 a plate dinner to meet some RINO in waiting, ect., ect.. After the fourth email arrived, I replied; “Please remove my email address from your contacts list. I get less spam from Google ads.” Then my phone rang. Let’s just say, I’m on the GOP excrement list for sure now! The conversation ended with him calling me a “Tea Party nut bag” and hanging up on me. The truth is, that’s what they think of all us conservatives folks. ….eff ’em!

Apparently, it’s a huge breach of etiquette to share communications between public servants who are colluding to steal more from us, but spying on the communications between private citizens isn’t a gross violation of the Fourth Amendment?

And all those in the politcal class BANGING THEIR SHOE ON A TABLE condeming WIKILEAKS for embarrassing members of the political class……….WELL NOW LOOK AT YOU? Turns out Reid and democrats actually LOVE leaking documents. Is it too early to have PFC Manning released from Guantanamo, or where ever they have locked him up?

You know if you are in the poltical class if you:
      ~Hate WikiLeaks
      ~Hate Edward Snowden
~Make excuses for the IRS / NSA / ATF
~Continue to fund unconstitutional departments like EDUCATION, which is a state function.
      ~Keep adding onto the debt
~Have no guts to eliminate illegal immigration, affirmative action, gun control measures
      ~Refuse to strengthen voting laws
~Refuse to make our universities live in America under our Constitution
~Refuse to defund or shrink ANY portion of the government
      ~Campaign for higher taxes
~Sell out your soul so you can keep your cushy job
~Prend you have never heard of term limits

Buh-STED. The cryin’ man must go.

He has, since taking his current position, proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that he cares more about his own power than he does about those he represents. He has broken his oath of office. He has broken his trust with the American people. He has plotted with our dictator-in-chief for his own benefit at our expense. He has lied outright to his constituency. And worst of all, in these desperate times he has demonstrated without fail that it IS possible to survive without testicles, a brain, or a spine. The man is a medical miracle with tear ducts.

This may turn out to be the biggest mistake ole Dirty Harry has ever made.

First, this exposes Harry to his own constiuents who now know he was making this deal behind their backs. but they don’t really care as long as they get theirs.

Right now he has House leadership that he can roll anytime he wants. Releasing these emails will lead to the downfall of the already stumbling Boehner, and Harry may have to deal with a future speaker with a pair. That supposes the republicans have the guts elect a Speaker that does more than cry and go to the tanning salon.

    as I posted yesterday—

boner and his ilk simply don’t know any other way of dealing with the demons. hand- wringing, futile attempts at compromise, then head-hanging acceptance. it’s either battered wife syndrome or a distraction because they want the same goals but don’t want us to see it.
there are no other options, are there?

now we know which, and it seems it’s a whopping mixture of both.

  7. Mithrandir says:

BOEHNER HAS E*V*O*L*V*E*D* –Isn’t that the excuse when a democrat 1st is against something, before he was for it?

Honestly. Republicans need to be better at politics STARTING WITH THE GROUND UP! Back to fundamentals, back to basics. This is so easy to reverse it’s pitiful.

What outcome do you want? What lie do you want people to believe? Ok, once you establish that, then re-organize your strategy to:
Next, install a more legitamate excuse to appeal to the SMARTER DEMOGRAPHIC.
Then Mis-direct, to confuse the A.D.D. crowd, and then eventually, there will be a sliver of people in the pie graph that are hopeless, and if you did it right, they will be such a minority, you don’t have to worry about them.
Stuff all that into the news cycle, and in10 days, people won’t even know what the heck the issue was to begin with.
And if you are REALLLLLLY good, you will have a few issues simmering on the back burner like IRAN or SYRIA, or some othe perpetualy problem, BRING IT TO THE FRONT, and it will shout down, and cover up whatever SNAFU you happened to step into. Also, sort-of, kind-of apologizing appeases a sliver of the pie graph too, if ever a politician gets desperate enough to admit fault.

JEEZ REPUBLICANS—–EVOLVE! (and I am for hire as a high paid consultant [better than those losers Republicans hired in 2008 / 2012] but my email has be shut off because I never open it, it’s possible to find me on HIGHLY popular social media sites, but I may not check it, as my FACE is always in a BOOK reading about political stuff, wink wink)
