Lol - It's a story and sometimes might sound a little too fantastic to believe. I'll briefly mention the early years though because regretfully it's too common with children today.

I had to be brought up in foster homes from an early age. It's not like adoption and you can be moved around every few months or so (trust me it's very disorienting for a kid). I wasn't a hard case but actually was desperate to please.
Anyway, it was hard to stay with the Church where I was baptized. One otherwise nice family insisted that to be apart of their family I had to attend a Baptist church with them. That might sound reasonable but understand, it's very hard to keep changing you're golden rules every time you move into another home. I agreed to try it and then decide later. When I still wanted to go back to my church they gave me the boot (btw- it was against California law to force me into any religious services). I felt guilty for being stubborn at the time but now I just look back think, hey I was 13 years old. While repeating basically that same story over and over I was never confirmed or learned the formalities.

This is not the right forum but I think it's important for people to understand the realities of foster care, especially in urban areas. Some parents did it just for the money, some mothers wanted to get fresh with me and some just didn't understand the more profound responsibilities.

Thanks for that info SG.
I'm hoping something comes out of Blago's scandal that puts an end to Emmanuel. Besides being dishonest (just typical for a politician) he seems to have the personality of a tyrant.

I found this remarkable, although with politicians, nothing should surprise me.

......"As Chair, Emanuel led the Democratic Caucus in fulfilling its campaign promise to pass legislation reflecting the values and priorities of the American people. In the first 100 legislative hours, Democrats passed sweeping ethics reform....."

As one of Mark Twain's characters would say, "He mostly told the truth, 'though with some 'streachers' throwed in".

"Thanks. I had heard or read the meat slicer story somewhere before, and Guppy mentioned it here also."

We have mentioned several times before. Though, I can't remember the context.

Some further details about Rahm Emanuel to bear in mind as we cogitate about these innocent contacts with Mr. Blagojevich.

From Congresspedia:

Emanuel became known for his fundraising abilities in the mayoral campaign of Richard Daley. He would insist on donors giving more than they previously gave, even hanging up the phone on donors to convey his disgust. At the age of 30 he raised an unheard of $7 million for Daley. This helped win him a job as Director of Finance in the 1992 Presidential campaign of then-Governor Bill Clinton...

He joined then Governor Bill Clinton's presidential primary campaign in 1991 and worked as part of the original "War Room" with George Stephanopoulos, James Carville, and Paul Begala. Following the campaign, Emanuel became a senior advisor to Clinton at the White House (1993-1998). In the White House, Emanuel was initially Assistant to the President for Political Affairs but was fired for overstepping his bounds...

It's almost certainly a story started by Emanuel himself. In any case, he has allowed it to be perpetuated:

US election: A profile of Rahm Emanuel | World news | guardian.co.uk
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/nov/06/uselections2008-rahm-emanuel-obama

emauel AND finger AND idf - Google Search
http://tinyurl.com/9f794k

The first article here, BTW, is also laughably wrong:

"And his volunteer service in Israel during the 1990s Gulf War is no fiction..."

It certainly is a fiction. At least there is no mention of same in either Emanuel's own biography:

:: About Rahm ::
http://www.house.gov/emanuel/aboutrahm.shtml

Or in his Wikipedia entry:

Rahm Emanuel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahm_Emanuel

It's safe to say that Mr. Emanuel is not the kind of person to hide that detail under a bushel.

"Slightly OT, but is Emanuel missing part of the middle finger on his hand?"

Yes. He cut off a finger while working at a fastfood restaurant -- an Arby's to be exact.

Somehow this got inflated into his having lost it while loading mortars for the IDF.

Typical, is it not?

I think he's just flashing a gang sign.

It used to be a bit tiring playing the old "imagine if this were a republican" game when reading most msm reports, but now...dang, who has the energy to even point out such obviousness anymore?

This is indeed the new era of liberal control: "why yes, I did just punch you in the face and take your purse madam, but you see...I don't wish to be bothered with any sort of inconvenience to myself by accepting an arrest or anything." The media will say what this ruling liberal class wants them to say when they want them to say it. But the real evil is of course Fox News.
