This is absolutely sick. My first impulse in reading this was that since Wall Street is in the heart of Gotham, their need for capital and economic solvency must have dictated this American gesture to the ChiComs. After all, my mind told me, the traders, brokers, and tycoons know that China is the biggest purchaser of American debt.

But that doesn’t make it right, of course. How could a nation that sent 40,000 of its men to their death in South Korea suddenly make such an insulting display of honoring communism? What about the 58,000 men who were told that they needed to die for our anti-communist cause in South Vietnam just a few years ago?

To the ruling class in this country, it must be nice to just go from year to year, never remembering our dead and wounded or the causes we sent them to their graves’ over. Since the kind of people who decided to light the Empire State Bldg red don’t experience the reality of fighting evil, they are immune to this sentiment.

And as far as our own Liberals in this country who love to fly their Che flags or Mao t-shirts, we can’t expect them to love their countrymen who gave all to protect us for the past 60 years. They are too above that kind of jingoistic, patriotic bullsh*t. But there is ONE reason that they might actually cross the street to join our side: the persecution of Buddhists from Tibet! The need to stand up for America and anti-communism be damned, the good Liberal says. Only the sad conditions of world citizens like the Tibetans make them sit up and take notice that maybe those Ugly Americans who hate Communism had a point after all.
