Ex-Marine Reports Troop Movement For Enemy

From the terrorists’ media outlet, Al Jazeera:

Here is Mr. Rushing’s “exclusive” report for the enemy, via YouTube:

More troops go to Iraq – 15-September-2007

While all the talk in the US is about withdrawing troops from Iraq, the reality is that many soldiers are actually preparing to travel there. Another brigade is about to be sent to Iraq from Ft Stewart in Georgia. Josh Rushing reports.

Perhaps it is nit-picking, but isn’t it still illegal to announce troop deployments in war time?

From the US Code, Title 18, Part I, Chapter 37:

§ 794. Gathering or delivering defense information to aid foreign government

(b) Whoever, in time of war, with intent that the same shall be communicated to the enemy, collects, records, publishes, or communicates, or attempts to elicit any information with respect to the movement, numbers, description, condition, or disposition of any of the Armed Forces, ships, aircraft, or war materials of the United States, or with respect to the plans or conduct, or supposed plans or conduct of any naval or military operations, or with respect to any works or measures undertaken for or connected with, or intended for the fortification or defense of any place, or any other information relating to the public defense, which might be useful to the enemy, shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for any term of years or for life.

Some background on our hero, Mr. Rushing, from Wikipedia:

Josh Rushing

Josh Rushing was a United States Marine Captain who was a press officer for United States Central Command (CENTCOM) during the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. He became famous for his appearance in the documentary Control Room, which documented his conversation with Al Jazeera correspondent Hassan Ibrahim. After the Pentagon ordered him not to comment on the movie, he left the Marine Corps and is now working for Al Jazeera English.

In 2007, Palgrave Macmillan published Mission: Al-Jazeera, Rushing’s memoir of his journey from a small town in Texas to the Marines to Al Jazeera English.

But as several have pointed out before:

Josh Rushing is also a moron — and a traitor.

If our government does not prosecute people like this, how can anyone believe they are serious about winning this war?
