Ex-Spy Boss: Karzai Strategy Dangerous

Afghan ex-spy boss calls peace strategy dangerous

June 9, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghanistan’s former intelligence chief is warning that President Hamid Karzai’s strategy of seeking reconciliation with the Taliban is dangerous for the country.

Amrullah Saleh told The Associated Press on Wednesday that despite the president’s conciliatory approach, insurgents were showing no sign of compromise and only responding with "violence, destruction and intimidation."

Saleh was intelligence chief for six years. He and the interior minister resigned Sunday over a Taliban attack at last week’s peace conference in Kabul.

Saleh says they had arrested the facilitators and provided the president detailed evidence, which Karzai "pushed aside and did not pay attention to." …

As fighting escalates, the Afghan government is reaching out to the insurgents in hopes of ending the war.

Last week, President Hamid Karzai won endorsement from a national conference for his plan to offer incentives to the militants to lay down their arms, and to seek talks with the Taliban leadership. The leadership has so far publicly shunned the offer, and the U.S. is skeptical whether peace can succeed until the Taliban are weakened on the battlefield.

The Taliban have sought to sow fear among Afghans of cooperating with the foreign forces or Karzai’s government, which they consider a puppet regime of Washington.

[Helmand provincial spokesman] Daoud Ahmadi said the Taliban hanged a 7-year-old boy in front of a crowd of people in Salarwi village in Sangin on Tuesday, accusing him of spying for foreign forces. The Taliban spokesman denied it…

Another day, another despicable murder by the pious Mohammedans.

It gets to the point where your mind doesn’t want to process the atrocities these savages commit anymore. These are the scum our “president” so admires.

It’s also sad that NO ONE from that village stood up to stop this brutal barbarism – on a 7-year-old no less. Shees (shakes head)

Well put Steve. The mind cannot comprehend how despicable and evil these pious Mohammedans are.

U.S. & NATO soldiers had one of their deadliest week over the peace talks. The terrorists who soften become the target of the worst terrorists.
