Family Say LA Cops Shot Man While He Was Lying Down

Here is more shooting news, via the CW-affiliate in Los Angles, KTLA:

Police Fatally Shoot Man in South L.A.; Family Members Say He Was Lying Down When Shot

By John A. Moreno, Melissa Pamer and Nerissa Knight | August 12, 2014

Family members said Tuesday that a 25-year-old man was complying with police orders when he was fatally shot by LAPD officers in the Florence neighborhood South Los Angeles… Patrol officers had “conducted an investigative stop” in the 200 block of 65th Street, and “during the stop a struggle ensued” and police opened fire, an LAPD news release issued midmorning Tuesday stated…

Officers sustained minor scrapes during the altercation and did not require hospitalization… The news release stated no officers were injured.

Uh huh. Say no more.

Police were being tight-lipped with details about the incident because of a “gathering” at the scene of the shooting…

What kind of "gathering"? A prayer breakfast? An ice cream social?

A woman who said she was the deceased man’s mother identified him in a phone call to KTLA as Ezell Ford [sic]…Her son was lying on the ground and complying with the officers’ commands when he was shot three times, Tritobia [sic] Ford said…

A man who did not give his name and identified himself only as a cousin of the victim [said]: “They laid him out and for whatever reason, they shot him in the back, knowing mentally, he has complications. Every officer in this area, from the Newton Division, knows that — that this child has mental problems,” the man said…

Reaction to the South Los Angeles shooting was spreading on social media Tuesday under the hashtag #EzellFord. A rally was being organized for 3 p.m. Sunday at LAPD headquarters, according to a Facebook invitation.

Sunday? Man, even the rioters and looters protesters against social injustice are laid back in LA.

Civil rights leaders called for a meeting with LAPD Chief Charlie Beck over Ford’s shooting, according to Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson.

“The killing of Ezell Ford — coming on the heels of the Michael Brown killing in Ferguson, Missouri — again raises the issue and problem of tense police-community relations,” Hutchinson said in a statement. “This is the sole reason we have called for a meeting … to get all the facts in the shooting and for assurances that the shooting will be subject to the most rigorous review to determine if there was any wrongdoing in Ford’s death.” …

‘Civil rights leaders’ always just want to get the facts. They don’t have any axes to grind.

There have been a lot of shootings in Camden, Detroit, Atlanta, Baltimore, Oakland, Trenton, Dearborn, Washington, D.C., Chicago, etc. The victims were mostly black yoots. When are those “communities” going to demand “rigorous investigations?” Are those investigations only warranted when the suspected shooter is white? That seems a little discriminatory to me. What about justice for all the yoots who have been shot and killed for nothing more than wearing Crip Blue in a Bloods neighborhood? Don’t dey get no justus? When will somebody make Al Sharpton explain why he doesn’t speak out for those victims? When will he use his media presence to “raise awareness” and condemn the violence? When will he go there and hold a rally to march drug dealers and gang members out of these “communities?” Instead, they’re focusing all their energy on a police officer who used his weapon in the line of duty and there haven’t been any facts presented which indicate his use of force was unwarranted.

As soon as somebody shows Al how he can get something out of the deal. He and the racebaiters union 101 aren’t going into these neighborhoods because going in there doesn’t empower them in any way. In that situation and location, Al’s presence would only serve to diminish his own influence with everyone involved. That would force him to pick a side in black on black crime, gang on gang killings, minority on minority violence. And how would he do that without whitey to take blame for not only the crime, but for every percieved injustice to every minority in the history of our nation. Without the white windmill to slay, what’s the point?

yes. now with obummy care we always refer to a 25yr old man as a child.

and the majority of the “mental problems” my colleagues and I deal with these days turn out to be induced by chemical indulgence.
