Fed Discrimination Complaints Up 2.4%

From the ever watchful Washington Post:

Discrimination Complaints Up Slightly

Complaints from the federal workforce alleging discrimination by the government increased slightly in the latest figures from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, ending a recent downward trend.

The EEOC’s Annual Report on the Federal Workforce notes 16,752 complaints alleging employment discrimination filed against the federal government in Fiscal Year 2008 — up 2.4 percent from the prior year. The complaints were filed against agencies alleging discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability and reprisal.

The increase runs counter to decreases over the previous three years, from 19,024 complaints filed in fiscal 2004. EEOC officials say the increase in 2008 is not cause for alarm, but should be monitored to make sure it does not continue. "It’s a modest increase, and the trend is down, but we want to make sure it’s not ticking upwards," Dexter Brooks, EEOC director of federal sector programs, said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it is taking longer for the government to resolve discrimination cases, according to the report released last month. The average processing time for 11,157 complaint investigations completed in fiscal 2008 was 180 days, an increase of four days from the previous year.

Of 7,538 cases accepted for investigation and closed on the merits in 2008, about 19.5 percent were settled and another 2.5 percent resulted in findings of unlawful discrimination. Agencies paid out more than $50 million to complainants, according to the report.

"Federal agencies must step up their efforts to improve complaint processing time, while also focusing on quality results," acting EEOC Chairman Stuart J. Ishimaru said in a statement, adding that the EEOC seeks "an inclusive, discrimination-free federal workplace."

The federal government is the nation’s largest employer with nearly 2.7 million employees. The EEOC release notes that there have been "subtle changes in the composition of the federal workforce" over the past decade, with slightly higher numbers of women, Hispanics and Asians.

Nonetheless, the report found that "Hispanic or Latinos, whites, women and persons of two or more races remained below their overall availability in the national civilian labor force, as reported in the 2000 census." Groups that were overrepresented, based on the 2000 census, include "Black or African Americans, Asians, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islanders, American Indian/Alaska Natives and men," the report says.

The number of people with serious disabilities continues to decline and remains below 1 percent of the total workforce, the report notes.

The report is available on the EEOC’s Web site at http://www.eeoc.gov/federal/fsp2008.

How is this possible?

We were supposed to have ended all racism with the election of Obama.

By the way, note who is "overrepresented" in the Federal bureaucracy.

Where is the outrage?

One only has to walk into ANY government office, be it federal, state, or local, and see with your own eyes which races are being overrepresented. Of course, this is by design. God forbid an Anglo with better credentials and abilities gets a goverment job!

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

If I worked in a government office, I would be fired for being a racist.

    • caligirl9 says:

Same as jobs in higher education—gotta represent, and then overpay those incompetent people for earning their “degrees” thanks to as much affirmative action as can possibly be applied.

The great untold story of the election is how it has emboldened the criminal constituencies that the Moron represents.

It’s shocking that this clear example was published in WaPo. Of course, they probably see it as a good thing, instead of an example of losers and criminals ripping of productive citizens.

And as a side note, what would be the average annual income of America’s minority populations if income from lawsuits was included. Why, this report shows that for the federal workforce alone, for this one narrow area of the law, $50 million was collected by minorities. And the federal workforce is only about 2% of the total workforce. It’s safe to assume that $250 million is the low-end number for “discrimination” claims for the entire economy.

But that is dwarfed by “slip and fall”, “medical malpractice”, and “looking at me cross-eyed” lawsuits. The medical malpractice claims alone are about $100 billion per year. Who would bet that miniorities rake in less than 50% of that?

It’s good work if you can get it.

Later, we’ll talk about the hundreds of billions of your dollars that liberals funnel to minority communities through Medicare fraud, and the other hundreds of billions through SSI fraud, and the other hundreds of billions through government contracts going to “minority businesses”. Maybe someday, we’ll have time to discuss welfare, and billions of dollars of free health care, and billions of dollars of free education, and hundreds of billions of dollars of free mortgages, and tax credits and mortgage loans and student loans that will never be repaid.

Of course by mentioning those numbers they aren’t “technically” calling for quotas in federal employment…BUT…they’re just saying.

    • proreason says:

The means of redistribution are endless.

Just like the means of taxation are endless.

If you could ever find them all and sum them, they would probably together amount to more than 50% of the GDP.

  4. Liberals Demise says:

About par for the average ….. seeing the only jobs made in the last 8 months are Federal ones!

To those complaining …… get a “REAL” job you lazy asses!!

  5. The EEOC, the NLRB, and any of 100s of other minor agencies pitting employees against the employer, all expendable IMO.

What the hell ever happened to free association?

Off Topic maybe but here goes: Anyone, and I mean anyone, who stands on a street corner in Los Angeles will tell you the same thing I’m telling you – I haven’t seen an Anglo driving a Metro Bus in over twenty years. How in the hell is it there are no Caucasian bus drivers? Did they all quit applying for these jobs all at once? Label this post racist if you want but it is the TRUTH. In my opinion this is the legacy of Mayor Tom Bradley and his affirmative action policies in the seventies. He traded one form of racism for another. So who are the ones over-represented here? Thanks Tom.

Groups that were overrepresented, based on the 2000 census, include “Black or African Americans, Asians, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islanders, American Indian/Alaska Natives and men,” the report says.

Interesting. The composition of the the U.S. Congress is:

    –83% men, 17% women
    –77% white, 8% black, 5% Hispanic, 1% Asian and ,<1% Native American

This means the U.S. Congress is over-represented by white men.

Must be some kind of government plantation.
