Firemen Take Generators From Occupy NYC

From an outraged New York Daily News:

Occupy Wall Street protesters stripped of their power, literally, by fire department and NYPD

The city has stripped Occupy Wall Street protesters of their power. Dozens of firefighters and police officers entered Zuccotti Park Friday morning to confiscate generators and gas canisters.

Fire trucks and police vans pulled up on the corner of Broadway and Liberty St. at about 8.30 a.m. and asked the Occupy Wall Street protesters to bring the items to them, saying they were a health and fire hazard.

"They made an announcement on a bullhorn saying: ‘We are here to take the generators, could you please bring them up to us on the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street’," said James Bennett, a member of the information working group.

When no one from Occupy Wall Street surrendered the generators, more than 20 uniformed FDNY and NYPD officials entered the park to seize them, witnesses said.

Cossacks! But, really, the city fathers are only doing this for the children. Their safety.

Children should not be allowed to handle such dangerous equipment. They could end up asphyxiating themselves or setting fire to the place.

The protesters say five generators were seized in total, including one which was biodiesel and ran on used vegetable oil.

Probably stolen vegetable oil. From local restaurants.

Several canisters were also taken, some empty, some with vegetable oil and one with gasoline, Occupy Wall Street say. No arrests were made and the incident was peaceful, the city said.

For the record, the temperature in New York City was in the middle thirties last night. The temperature is predicted to go down to 33 degrees tomorrow night, with a 90% chance of rain or snow.

Sorry Steve, not buying this one. Only solar or wind generators were allowed. For what purpose, I have no idea,
since these forest gnomes have no need for such things. Tinfoil headgear and a squarefoot to crap were the headliners. Get with it dude! Haw!

Some of my friends are gnomes. Came over
from Zurich. I was off skulking in the cedar
brakes yesterday and missed this one. It’s
fun to skulk on occasion. Didn’t see any of
    my friends though.
