The Olympics were a disaster!! The roads were clogged with orange barrels for months as they got ready. Corrupt Mayor Bill Campbell leased out all the city sidewalks to “a young black entrepreneur” named Munson Steed. The businesses found they did not own the sidewalks in front of their stores. Munson rented out the space to vendors by the thousand. Many of the spaces were no where near the venues. The city looked like a third world bazaar. Thousands of vendors were stuck. Munson made out like a bandit.

A drunken IOC wife had a “Do you know who I am” moment with one of Atlanta’s officers. It was not pretty. There are several videos of officers slamming women to the ground for not moving their cars quickly enough at the airport.

Then we had the park bombing. And tragedy of tragedies, Juan Antonio Samaranch did not pronounce the games “most excellent” in the final ceremonies.

Screw the Olympics. They make the host city spend an obscene amount of money to build all sorts of venues – many will be discarded afterwards. The IOC, a bunch of eurotrash dilettantes gets half the revenue. The host city gets the rest. The athletes get their pretty little medals.

Are they still pretending to be amateurs? Screw ‘em.

Michelle Obama vows to strike Olympic gold for Chicago

First lady Michelle Obama vowed Monday to “take no prisoners” as she and her husband launch an unprecedented bid for Chicago’s 2016 Olympic bid.
“It’s a battle — we’re going to win — take no prisoners,” the first lady said with a smile at a roundtable discussion with reporters in the White House State Dining Room.
She compared the intense lobbying effort to the 2008 presidential campaign, noting that in the election campaign, a lot of voters made their decision in the final days. She said members of the International Olympic Committee may do the same…
The White House confirmed Monday that President Obama will fly on Thursday to Copenhagen, Denmark, where the International Olympic Committee will be reviewing bids from several countries on Friday. It will be the first time that an American president has lobbied the IOC in this manner.
Mrs. Obama arrives in Copenhagen on Wednesday with White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett and other top aides.
“What a dynamic duo they will be,” Jarrett said. “I think it will be high impact, I think their presentation will be both very personal, given that they know and love Chicago so well.”
Mrs. Obama said she and Vice President Joe Biden have been lobbying IOC members by telephone in recent days, and that she plans a packed schedule once she lands in Denmark.
“I think I’m talking to everybody,” she said of the dozens of IOC members who will decide the victor.
She will also make a formal presentation to the IOC, before the president makes his own pitch on Friday.
“We’re each going to do our own proposal,” she said. “I think we have as good a chance as any country.”
…At last week’s G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh, she sat next to the first lady of Brazil, one of the nations with a rival bid.
“I adore her but I said, ‘You know, I’m going to hug you now and then I’m going after you in Copenhagen,’ ” Mrs. Obama recalled with a laugh. “And she said, ‘You too.’ So gloves are off.”

Okay, so there are concerns that Madrid won’t be considered because of 2012’s London Olympics and 2014’s Winter Olympics in Russia, though their bid was second on shortlist balloting. (Tokyo, which hosted the 1964 Summer Olympics, scored the highest of the four remaining cities, Chicago third above Rio de Janeiro.) I do hope that the selection committee takes air quality into consideration for the athlete’s sake.

I don’t think that this little in-person junket is appropriate at all. Send a video, link a videoconference. Lead by example, not by “Do as I say, not as I do.” How many millions of dollars is this circus from Washington in the name of “representing Chicago” costing taxpayers?

And yes, I’d be saying the same thing if anyone else was in office at this point in time. Times are tough, so act like they are. Stop the irresponsible spending.

Our taxes paying the Stimulous Package, includes Obama’s high speed bullet trains main HUB being located in Chicago.

This is not communist China yet, and every State in America should have the oppurtunity to put in a request for their state to be considered.

Shameful to say, I know. But with this president, the US really doesn’t deserve the opportunity and really MUSTN’T afford the crooks in the Chicago DC arrangement the opportunity to profit even more.

I would even say, let some city in Namibia have it before Chicago.
