Fournier: Executive Amnesty Would Be ‘A Nuclear Bomb’

From National Review:

Fournier: Executive Action on Immigration Would Be ‘a Nuclear Bomb’

By Andrew Johnson | August 6, 2014

If President Obama grants legal status to millions of immigrants in the country illegally through executive action, he will drastically divide the nation and totally discount his presidential pledge, National Journal’s Ron Fournier said. Fournier, who believes the immigrants should get legal status, argued executive orders would be the worst way to do it.

Which ‘Presidential pledge’ has Mr. Obama not discounted? We’ve lost track.

“The fundamental reason he became president was he was promising ‘There’s no red state, there’s no blue state — I’m going to bring the country together,’” he said on Fox News on Wednesday. “He’s been a polarizing president, and this would be a nuclear bomb that would blow open and make this country even more divided in a way that most Americans just don’t want.”

Don’t worry. How many times have we been told that Obama would never do something because it would be a nuclear bomb? Like ramming through Obama-Care against the will of the people. Like changing Obama-Care’s mandates on the fly for political reasons.

Fortunately, Mr. Obama is protected from any fallout from his nuclear bombs by our lickspittle news media. Who are always his first (and last) responders.

Earlier in the discussion, the Hill’s A. B. Stoddard warned of a potential “constitutional crisis” if the president overreached with executive action. She added that “the outrage will be so incredible on the Republican side that it will bring more Democratic losses” in the upcoming midterms.

Yep, that will stop the Democrats for sure. Especially, since they already know they are going to lose in a landslide in the midterms. So why not go for broke and do amnesty and insure that Democrats never lose another election?

Meanwhile, we have this reaction from the other end of the gene pool, via Breitbart:

Chris Matthews: Obama’s Amnesty Will Be His ‘Emancipation Proclamation’

August 6, 2014

Wednesday on MSNBC’s "Hardball," host Chris Matthews discussing the presidential press conference that had just wrapped up, said he understood President Barack Obama’s answer to whether he will grant work permits essentially creating amnesty for up to 5 million illegal immigrants living in the United States was "yes."

Matthews said, "His answer to me was yes — I’m going to issue some kind of system whereby people get relief from deportation or whatever it is. The government of the United States is going to in effect give work permits to people in this country illegally."

The MSNBC host added, "Let’s go to something the former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said — ‘Let no crisis go unexploited,’ something to that extent. These young people on the border, everyone knows we have to address it. that means executive discretion. I’m also going to deal with that other problem. I will leave some people of the enforcement. He is talking about a big solution. When you talk about work permits, you talk about up to 5 million people, a huge — this is an Emancipation Proclamation."

There it is again. The news media is setting the stage for amnesty being blamed on the Republicans.

After all, lest we forget, Lincoln said that he didn’t want to emancipate the slaves, at least not in the way he did. But the south forced him to. Just like Obama is claiming he is being forced to do amnesty by executive order. Much against his will and better judgment.
