But I am given pause because of the insightful observation from Rush today that Barry’s handlers wanted to shield him from this potential outcome, therefore they “beat the boo’ers to the punch” by adorning him in a White Sox jacket, which was sure to bring at least some amount of boo’s by the crowd. They then have plausable deniability when speculators say, “His popularity must be waning, look how the crowd reacted to him at the All Star game.”

Growing up, my parents never let us get close to anything Japanese. Something to do with their invading China.

I’m also not a big sports fan. Consequently, the only famous Asian athletes I know of are Yao Ming, Michelle Wie, Michael Chang, Michelle Kwan and Tiger Woods.

Perhaps I should I have said “Chinese” instead of “Asian.” Chinese aren’t good at throwing or rolling balls. We’re better at hitting them back and forth, particularly over a net. :-)

Personally I don’t expect a President to be ripplingly macho. BUT it’s embarrassing that The President’s managers have worked so strenuously to present him as a slab of breathtaking virility when he is, in fact, a tad bit girlish. If you turn the volume down on the Ellen clip you may think it shows two tall skinny lesbians dancing together at Pandora’s Box in NYC or something.

I have to confess, when other teenage guys were doing football my mother forced me into the most bizarre slate of physical activities: weightlifting, ballet lessons, the rifle team, and tennis. With four three physical activities, I can’t deny that I got great physical training that lasted me for life, as evidenced by the fact that I made it into the Army at the age of 37. BUT if I am a military officer (as I will be one day), I won’t be so stupid as to make myself seem like a typical red-blooded macho blockhead. I wouldn’t volunteer to chop wood at a lumberjack convention, throw a football at SuperBowl half time, or try to throw a punch at a punching bag just before doing the boogey-woogey with a lankly lesbian tomboy. I don’t expect the Commander to be masculine in every way — he just has to have the manly common sense to carry himself with the dignity he knows he can handle. The golfing, pitching, bowling, and dancing routines are simply out of line, poor judgment, and embarrassing. Especially the punching bag on Ellen’s show.
