Franken is gaining about 2 votes for every 1% of the vote recounted. If it continues this way, it would be tied going to contested ballots, which puts the ‘selection’ in the hands of the canvassing board chaired by Ritchie. Just the way a community agitator would draw it up.

May God have mercy on us for what those of weak character have inflicted on this nation, although we don’t deserve it. If our own characters were strong enough, we would have stopped this before it happened in the first place.

But in seriousness, once you understand that today a lot of farmers in Minnesoooota are dependent on government supports you will realize that they naturally do like all the other “the man owes me a livin” leeches and slackers . . . they will vote for whoever promises them the most milk and honey. Just look how many rural “whiter than snow” counties in Minnesooooota voted for nObama. That’s the only explanation I can give you for why Minnesooooota voted for a Commie for president and a clown for senate.

Still, the thought of a “Senator Franken” is an abomination. Perhaps we DO get the government we deserve. Or at least, they do.

You could easily wonder the same about their election of Jesse Ventura as Governor in 1998.

Ironically, one of the candidates Ventura beat in the 1998 gubernatorial election?

Norm Coleman.

Further, Ventura later joined the Independence Party, the party whose candidate may have taken enough votes away from Coleman to be responsible for what may well be yet another defeat for him.

We will never know just how many people engaged in such a stunt, nor how many would do differently, given the chance. I can only wonder, is there no remorse?

Coleman camp calls Franken’s D.C. visit ‘presumptuous’

The DFLer plans to update Senate Democratic leaders on the recount and also do some fundraising.

Although he doesn’t have a seat, Al Franken will have the floor Tuesday when he meets with Democratic leaders in the U.S. Senate.

Franken, who is locked in a mandatory recount of the Nov. 4 balloting with Republican incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, will update Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and others on the recount process, said his spokeswoman, Colleen Murray.

The Senate leaders and the candidate also will talk about upcoming legislation, she said.

“If he should win this election, it would be irresponsible for him not to get ready to take office,” she said. “Minnesota deserves a senator who is ready to take office on Day One.”

Franken, who was last in Washington in September, will skip a scheduled orientation for new senators also scheduled for this week.

Attending that, Murray said, would be “presumptuous.”

Coleman’s communications director, Mark Drake, upped that ante, calling it “highly presumptuous for Mr. Franken to undertake such a visit when his real purpose appears to be fundraising and gaining partisan advantage from non-Minnesotans.”

Franken will indeed be doing some fundraising, Murray said. “We’ve been up front about the fact that the recount is very expensive,” she said.

Coleman leads Franken by 206 votes; 2.9 million were cast on Election Day. Fifteen percent went to Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley.
