Well its all over now!! Hugo Chavez has found a bag of discarded ballots on a plane that originated from Minneapolis. He is bringing it back to the U.S. by way of Washington, D.C. and The Office of the President Elect. (OK...its fake but it could happen)

It is interesting to watch the recount unfold here:

http://ww2.startribune.com/news/metro/elections/returns/2008/recount/msenco.html

Franken is gaining about 2 votes for every 1% of the vote recounted. If it continues this way, it would be tied going to contested ballots, which puts the 'selection' in the hands of the canvassing board chaired by Ritchie. Just the way a community agitator would draw it up.

I'm waiting to see more abesentee ballots "found" in someone's car or some other spot and watch them be 100% or just about for Franken, probably enough to push over the votes infavor of Franken. Its become now not who can win the vote but who can engineer the theft of the election afterwards and the Democrats are masters at faking election results and changing the results if not in their favor.

As somebody who lives in Minnesota - I barely have anything to say. None of this surprises me in the least, that lawyers are parachuting in mass attack in order to change an election. I just wish the joke was on some other state.

This is a textbook example of an election being stolen by a corrupt party apparat. If these were normal times, with normal Americans, rather than the dumbed-down electorate we now have, people would be in the streets ready to string up the DFL/DNC scum who were perverting the process of a fair election. Unfortunately, we've gone from being a constitutional republic populated by people who were proud of their liberties and capable of taking care of themselves, to a semi-democracy where people have learned that they can take funds for their own purposes from the public treasury...and they want more of other peoples' money and will either vote for, or abet, the thieves who promise to do the stealing.

May God have mercy on us for what those of weak character have inflicted on this nation, although we don't deserve it. If our own characters were strong enough, we would have stopped this before it happened in the first place.

And I hate to mention this BUT I heard that they were recruiting Anti-Prop 8 protesters to look for those missing votes in Berger's pants . . . just sayin' you know . . .

But in seriousness, once you understand that today a lot of farmers in Minnesoooota are dependent on government supports you will realize that they naturally do like all the other "the man owes me a livin" leeches and slackers . . . they will vote for whoever promises them the most milk and honey. Just look how many rural "whiter than snow" counties in Minnesooooota voted for nObama. That's the only explanation I can give you for why Minnesooooota voted for a Commie for president and a clown for senate.

Per usual, Dems & their lawyers will seek to circumvent any rules, and have the votes counted anyways. Rules? Laws? We don't need no stinking rules & laws...

Mob rule at its finest.

Excellent point, BillK. I hadn't considered how Ventura's election to the governorship and subsequent administration had altered the political landscape in Minnesota. Or maybe Jesse was merely the manifestation of how wacko that state has become.

Still, the thought of a "Senator Franken" is an abomination. Perhaps we DO get the government we deserve. Or at least, they do.

JohnMG,

You could easily wonder the same about their election of Jesse Ventura as Governor in 1998.

Ironically, one of the candidates Ventura beat in the 1998 gubernatorial election?

Norm Coleman.

Further, Ventura later joined the Independence Party, the party whose candidate may have taken enough votes away from Coleman to be responsible for what may well be yet another defeat for him.

I am curious to know just how many Minnesotans voted for that worthless piece of skin, Franken, thinking it would be some kind of joke, and only now realize what they have wrought. That anybody would be so casual in exercising his/her franchise saddens me. As a veteran who contributed to, and fully appreciates, the sacrifices so willingly made to purchase and secure that privilege enjoyed by all U S citizens, I am disgusted by the way some individuals squander our treasure.

We will never know just how many people engaged in such a stunt, nor how many would do differently, given the chance. I can only wonder, is there no remorse?

Not chutzpah, but the norm.

Al Franken will be visiting Senate Democrats to get an update.

From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

Coleman camp calls Franken's D.C. visit 'presumptuous'

The DFLer plans to update Senate Democratic leaders on the recount and also do some fundraising.

By Bill McAuliffe

Although he doesn't have a seat, Al Franken will have the floor Tuesday when he meets with Democratic leaders in the U.S. Senate.

Franken, who is locked in a mandatory recount of the Nov. 4 balloting with Republican incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, will update Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and others on the recount process, said his spokeswoman, Colleen Murray.

The Senate leaders and the candidate also will talk about upcoming legislation, she said.

"If he should win this election, it would be irresponsible for him not to get ready to take office," she said. "Minnesota deserves a senator who is ready to take office on Day One."

Franken, who was last in Washington in September, will skip a scheduled orientation for new senators also scheduled for this week.

Attending that, Murray said, would be "presumptuous."

Coleman's communications director, Mark Drake, upped that ante, calling it "highly presumptuous for Mr. Franken to undertake such a visit when his real purpose appears to be fundraising and gaining partisan advantage from non-Minnesotans."

Franken will indeed be doing some fundraising, Murray said. "We've been up front about the fact that the recount is very expensive," she said.

Coleman leads Franken by 206 votes; 2.9 million were cast on Election Day. Fifteen percent went to Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley.

206 votes which of course will magically go away in the recount, I'm quite sure.
