Full Court Press On Brewer To Veto ‘Anti-Gay’ Bill

From a white-knuckled CNN:

Fate of Arizona Anti-Gay Measure Rests with Jan Brewer

By Leigh Ann Caldwell | 2/25/2014

To veto or not to veto: It’s up to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

She must decide if she is going to sign into law legislation that would allow business owners, as long as they assert their religious beliefs, to deny service to gay and lesbian customers.

If she approves it, the state could face litigation and a boycott, potentially harming Arizona’s economy and tourism industry as well as next year’s Super Bowl.

Don’t you love the way the left holds whole states hostage? Also, don’t you love how even football has become a political football?

Brewer told CNN her decision will come after she returns later this week to Arizona from Washington, where she has been attending the National Governors Association meetings. "I have to look at what it says and what the law says and take that information and do the right thing," she told CNN.

The bill was sent to Brewer on Monday and she has five days to sign it, veto it, or do nothing and it would become law.

She has been a conservative champion for much of her five years in office. And if that’s any indication, the measure could very well become law. But it’s not that straightforward…

While social and religious conservatives hope her conservative principles continue to guide her action regarding the LGBT measure, her record on lesbian and gay issues is thin.

Nathan Rhoton [sic], vice president of Equality Arizona, said that Brewer’s record on related issues is "largely unproven." While she vetoed a similar measure last year, it was had nothing to do with the content of the bill but political power plays inside the Arizona State Capitol.

The one substantive time she acted was not on the side of gay rights. She ended domestic partner benefits for state employees, which was a measure her predecessor implemented…

We don’t understand what all the fuss is about, anyway. Even if Brewer doesn’t veto this bill, some liberal judge somewhere will declare it to be unconstitutional.

The left never has to accept any law they don’t like.

  1. Pink is the new color of the NFL .. so, you decide. Is that pink as in silly breast cancer pocket-picking (or) pink as in watered down Communism?

Wait .. it’s all the same thing!

  2. Rusty Shackleford

It’s very easy for me. I watched very few games this past season and, due to the left’s insistence, I will watch none this coming season. I have other things to do and the America I knew where I could sit down and watch my favorite team play football without some political crapola floating around in the background (now in the FOREground) is gone.

As a free man I can modify my behavior. I could cry that watching politically unfettered sports events is a civil right and needs to be protected by the laws of the land, but we’re past that because the laws of the land are now brand X and whatever the national socialists want them to be.

We have reached an impasse where oppressed people used to come here and embrace freedom. Now they come here to impose their brand of “freedom” on others and succeed.

I may also stop flying old glory on holidays, except to honor Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day. Maybe July 4 but I haven’t decided yet. This is because everything that flag stands for, from the moment it was designed and first flown has been turned into a big fat lump of crap. Ignored and in its place, a nation that whines and can’t get out of bed to do any work. That prefers pot over any other activity and likes perverted sex instead of the nuclear family.

There’s no place else to go that isn’t at least as bad so I’m stuck in the USSA, watching it crumble before my eyes. The pendulum will not swing the other way because the minorities have gained too much power. It won’t last forever but I’ll be dead and gone by the time it turns back to right again, if it ever does.

So screw it. I am still a free man and will simply endeavor to do those things whereby the government leaves me alone and hopefully, doesn’t even know I exist.
