G8 Rejects New ‘Global Warming’ Scheme

From New York Times:

G-8 Nations Fail to Agree on Climate Change Plan

By PETER BAKER

July 9, 2009

L’AQUILA, Italy — The world’s major industrial nations and emerging powers failed to agree Wednesday on significant cuts in heat-trapping gases by 2050, unraveling an effort to build a global consensus to fight climate change, according to people following the talks.

As President Obama arrived for three days of meetings with other international leaders, negotiators dropped a proposal that would have committed the world to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by midcentury and industrialized countries to slashing their emissions by 80 percent.

The discussion of climate change was among the top priorities as world leaders gathered here for the annual summit meeting of the Group of 8 powers…

Mr. Obama, who arrived Wednesday morning from Moscow after a two-day visit there, has succeeded in persuading other Group of 8 leaders to contribute another $12 billion over the next three years for a food security initiative, aides said. The program, to be announced Friday, will provide emergency anti-hunger aid but also help build sustainable, productive agriculture and food delivery systems.

The breakdown on climate change underscored the difficulty in bridging divisions between the most developed countries like the United States and developing nations like China and India. In the end, people close to the talks said, the emerging powers refused to agree to the limits because they wanted industrial countries to commit to midterm goals in 2020 and to follow through on promises of financial and technological help.

“They’re saying, ‘We just don’t trust you guys,’ ” said Alden Meyer of the Union of Concerned Scientists, an advocacy group based in the United States. “It’s the same gridlock we had last year when Bush was president.”

European leaders and environmental activists had hoped that Mr. Obama would become a leader in the struggle against climate change after succeeding President George W. Bush, who resisted more aggressive measures.

But breakthrough eluded Mr. Obama and the other leaders of the Group of 8 who had invited counterparts from China, India, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico and others to join them here. The president hosts a parallel meeting Thursday bringing the various leaders together, but since President Hu Jintao of China abruptly left to deal with unrest at home, the chances of reversing the stalemate appeared slim…

China, India and the other developing nations are upset that commitments to provide financial and technological help made during a United Nations conference in Bali, Indonesia, in 2007 have not translated into anything more tangible.

Mr. Meyer estimated that the United States, Europe and other industrial nations need to come up with $150 billion a year in assistance by 2020 to help develop clean energy technology for developing countries, reduce deforestation that contributes to rising temperatures, and help vulnerable nations adapt to changes attributed to greenhouse gases.

What’s this?

Weren’t we told by our media master, such as the New York Times, that if Congress did not rush through ‘Cap And Trade’ in time for the G8 summit, Mr. Obama would be a pariah and the US would be forever disgraced?

Luckily Mr. Obama was able to salvage some of his wealth redistribution plans:

Mr. Obama, who arrived Wednesday morning from Moscow after a two-day visit there, has succeeded in persuading other Group of 8 leaders to contribute another $12 billion over the next three years for a food security initiative, aides said.

Of course most of this money will come from the US taxpayer. We have to do all we can to help bail out poor little old China.

[B]ut since President Hu Jintao of China abruptly left to deal with unrest at home, the chances of [the heroic Mr. Obama] reversing the stalemate appeared slim…

By the way, you’d never know it from this article, but neither China nor India are members of the G8. We suspect the G8 actually rejected this suicidal scheme for other reasons.

Maybe they noticed some of the outcomes of the elections in their necks of the woods.

Matt 5:44 – But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you …

Lord, this is getting harder and harder to do. I ask for more strength and humbleness of spirit that I may do cheerfully as you command … because this is REALLY getting a lot harder …. sir. Amen

The roles between the US and Europe are reversing.

Since WWII, the US has been more agressive about free-markets, national defense, and common sense.

Eurpope, flattened by two world wars actively pursued socialism and enjoyed the protection of the US.

Now, we have college freshmen in charge in the US, who are always fascinated with Marxism, socialism and one-worldism. So, our country is being dragged to the European model, neglecting, of course, to check whether the lack of a strong national defense anywhere in the western world might have some negative consequences. But since our leaders are freshmen, they must go BEYOND Europe in its lunacy. Our idiots went to Harvard, after all, so they are smarter than anybody who has ever lived.

Meanwhile, Europe is on the brink of total collapse, and they have begun to wake up to that fact. Demographically, they are doomed. With the US stepping down from defending anybody, the Europeans can’t even defend themselves, yet are threatened by new and rabid nuclear powers. Socialism has reached the tipping point in Europe. There are not enough workers to support the takers.

So Europe at the cusp of the waterfall, quick-steps to sanity, while the US hurries to trump the losing hand Europe has played for decades.

In the next two years, if the Harvard idiots get their way, a new Dark Ages will begin. We are seeing the early stages right now. Cap and Tax is the equivalent of treating the Black Death with leeches.

Put that in your smoke stack and “CAP” it, bub!!

That hurts me to the very core, right there. If you’re going to have an elitist, racist, one-world order, illuminati infested group of 8 summit, don’t screw it all up by inviting the rabble. At least don’t call it G8.

I guess there wasn’t a corner available for that famous Obama diplomacy.

  6. VMAN says:

Did all the anarchists come out to trash businesses and cause general havoc or did they stay away in deference to “The One”

    • Trialdog says:

Great question VMAN. I don’t expect to find the answer in the US press. This event happened in Italy. Italy has plenty of Commies, Anarchists, and Ne’er do Wells, so I’d like to know the answer to your question too. Lest we forget, many a Marxist is upset Obama is not moving fast enough.

    • pdsand says:

Lest we forget the 8% polled who don’t think the Democrat party is liberal enough.

  7. eaglewingz08 says:

I thought it was all Bush’s fault that there was no progress on Global Warming in the past eight years (supposedly)? Isn’t it Obama’s fault that he couldn’t persuade the other seven nations to destroy their economies in the name of a hoax? He’s the Obamessiah, does that mean the other G-7 by refusing to go along with the destructive policies want Obama and the USA to fail, and that as a result they are racists and nazis?

    • Right of the People says:

      LibCynic,

There are a lot more scientists who say global warming is bovine excrement then support it. What do you say about the cooling trend we’ve been in since the turn of the century? Where does that fit it with your scenario? Oh I know, that’s “Climate Change”.

How about the “endangered” polar bears? Fact: there are more of them now then ever before. Are you old enough to remember the big flap when the Alaska pipeline was being built about how it would destroy all the wildlife in the area, particularly the caribou? Fact: the herd is over twenty times larger than before the pipeline was built and they tend to hang out around the it, something to do with the warmth of the oil flowing through it. They freakin’ love it.

If you’re old enough to remember that then do you remember the late 70’s particularly 1976 – 1979 when we had some of the worst winter weather on record and the scientists were worried about the earth was cooling and a new ice age was coming? Weather is cyclic, always was, always will be and man can’t change it. I’m more afraid of a volcano erupting and spewing millions of tons of particulates in the air causing a cool down, you should be too.

Munch some more tofu and soy chips in your mommy’s basement and browse back to the Micheal Jackson tribute pages.

  8. Right of the People says:

I’ve been thinking about this whole “Climate change/Global Warming” thing and it occurred to me since the world wide temps are presently in a downward trend (like they have been doing in their normal 30 to 40 year cycle) if the moron can get his Crap and Tax bill through the Senate he will declare that it is working. If he can’t get it through they will still come up with some more voodoo science theory why the excessive CO2 us causing it.

With the porkulus, TARP, Crap & Tax, socialist medicine, running GM and Chrysler, etc, etc, etc I become more convinced every day that he needs to go, one way or another.

    • proreason says:

“he will declare that it is working.”

you can bet that they think of those angles for every single thing they do.

The White House is chock-a-block with staffers. Many many more than any other administration.

Do you think they are busy making America safe and finding ways to cut government spending, or do you think they are planning out the spin in advance for when the lying M*F*R is proven wrong again?

  9. wirenut says:

Not to fear, as we grow our victory gardens with seeds that will not reproduce. I can look forward to savings that will show no interest, or investments that show no profits. Taxes will only be on those that make $ 250,000 or more. Nobody cares that the diarrhea’s tax plan hits us all. Tax business and it gets passed to you and me. So he’s not really taxing me, right? Smoke’m if can afford-em folk’s, and I thought I was good at wrecking s**t!

    8 plus 2 = 10.
Revelation 17:12-13 His ten horns are ten kings who have not yet risen to
power; they will be appointed to their kingdoms for one brief moment to reign with the beast. They will all agree to give their power and authority to him.

Daniel 7:4 The first beast was like a lion with eagles’ wings. As I watched, its wings were pulled off, and it was left standing with it’s two hind feet on the ground, like a human being. And a human mind was given to it. ….
Daniel 7:7 It was different from any of the other beasts, and it had ten horns.

    The Audacity of Hope.

“And then there are the environmental consequences of our fossil fuel-based economy….If the prospect of melting ice caps, rising sea levels, changing weather patterns, more frequent hurricanes, more violent tornadoes, endless dust storms, decaying forests, dying coral reefs, and increases in respiratory illness and insect-borne diseases – if all that doesn’t constitute a serious threat, I don’t know what does.” BARACK OBAMA
    and his scary partners?

  11. proreason says:

More good news (can you believe I said that!).

Cap and Tax has been postponed until September in the Senate.

That doesn’t mean it’s dead, but is at least seems to be an indication the the Senate isn’t going to force through the country killing weather fantasy tax bill.

The tide is beginning to turn against the juvenile banana republic dictator and his click of fellow adolescents.

  12. A little on China..

I have had the opportunity to have an at length conversation with one of my suppliers when he came to visit a week ago. I have often wondered how China has been able to develop such an ability to “buy” US debt.

He explained that as a rule the Chinese though they have the opportunity to use, do not understand credit cards. They cannot relate to credit in that manner, preferring to save and use a pay as you go model. Chinese banks are “flush” with cash.

Something else to note.. much like the laying of a claim model in the early history of the US, the property there becomes leased for 70 years, and in their case then supposedly reverts back to government ownership. They have yet to reach the end of one of these cycles and are concerned about the stripping of natural resources, etc.. from the land.

Though this might be speaking the obvious, they are in the midst of their own industrial / frontier/ Claim staking time in their development still. Yet they have all the destructive abilities of modern technology to do so faster. It is a matter of survival to continue unabated. I doubt they would have ANY thing to do with der Fuhrer Obama’s master plan short of the spontaneous ignition of Beijing.
