Gallup: More Americans Were Insured Back In 2008

From Reuters:

Fewer in U.S. lack health insurance, but issues remain: poll

By Susan Heavey | May 5, 2014

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The percentage of adults in the United States who lack health insurance has fallen to its lowest rate since 2008, down to about 13 percent in April from a peak of 18 percent last year, according to a Gallup poll released on Monday.

Which means that more people had health insurance back in 2008, when Obama was calling the percentage of uninsured Americans a national disgrace. And before Obama-Care was ever passed or implemented. So exactly what has Obama-Care accomplished?

By the way, the peak of Americans being uninsured coincided with when the new Obama-Care mandates forced at least 5 million insurance plans to be cancelled. (A detail Reuters neglects to mention.)

The decline coincided with the October 2013 launch of the health insurance exchanges that allowed people to buy coverage on their own under the Affordable Care Act and accelerated as the deadline to buy coverage neared, the nonpartisan research organization said…

The decline (if there was any) also coincided with it being made illegal not to have insurance.

Gallup’s findings, based on interviews with more than 14,700 Americans throughout April, found the uninsured number fell most sharply among blacks and those with lower incomes…

While the overall numbers reflect "the surge in late health insurance sign-ups," many states’ decision to expand coverage under the Medicaid insurance program for the poor also are likely a factor, Gallup said…

In other words, the ‘decline’ (such as it is) is largely due to the vast expansion of Medicaid, which lowered the income thresholds for enrollment. Which, coupled with Obama’s destruction of the economy, has made more people dependent on the government.

There also are several remaining issues that could impact the uninsured rate in the months ahead, including the potential for some people who have signed up for plans neglecting to pay their insurance premiums and losing coverage…

Oh, that.

Obama is the guy who told his math teacher when he was eight years old, “I’ll show YOU…I’ll just fail this test. THEN you’ll be sorry.”

And he hasn’t changed a bit.

      Rusty,

Do you mean when he went to the Islamic school in Indonesia that you had to be a Muslim to attend? I bet he knows how to make an IED though.
