Gallup: Vets Give Romney Lead Over Obama

From Gallup:

Veterans Give Romney Big Lead Over Obama

Veterans responsible for Romney’s advantage among men overall

PRINCETON, NJ — U.S. veterans, about 13% of the adult population and consisting mostly of older men, support Mitt Romney over Barack Obama for president by 58% to 34%, while nonveterans give Obama a four-percentage-point edge.

These data, from an analysis of Gallup Daily tracking interviews conducted April 11-May 24, show that 24% of all adult men are veterans, compared with 2% of adult women.

Obama and Romney are tied overall at 46% apiece among all registered voters in this sample. Men give Romney an eight-point edge, while women opt for Obama over Romney by seven points. It turns out that the male skew for Romney is driven almost entirely by veterans. Romney leads by one point among nonveteran men, contrasted with the 28-point edge Romney receives among male veterans

Maybe we should bring back the draft. And maybe even do away with women suffrage. (After all, haven’t we suffered enough?)

In any case, maybe this poll explains Mr. Obama’s speech at the Vietnam Memorial yesterday, where he seemed to be apologizing to the veterans who fought in Vietnam and were ‘denigrated’ by the left and people like himself.

From the New York Times:

Obama Begins Commemoration of Vietnam Era

Published: May 28, 2012

… As [Obama] made a pilgrimage to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Monday to kick off a 13-year project marking the anniversary of Vietnam, he is trying to find a better outcome to the decade-long war in Afghanistan.

And a better outcome with veterans in the poll.

“You were often blamed for a war you didn’t start when you should have been commended for serving your country with valor,” Mr. Obama told the veterans gathered in the broiling sun before the iconic black granite wall, many of them graying and wrinkled with the passage of time. “You were sometimes blamed for misdeeds of a few, when the honorable service of the many should have been praised.”

“It was a national shame,” he added, “a disgrace that should have never happened. And that’s why here today we resolve that it will not happen again.”

And he was also there to try to boost his poll numbers.

But who were the people who ‘denigrated’ these Vietnam Veterans? They weren’t some faceless crowd that is now lost to history. They were the radical Left. They were all Democrats. They were people like Barack Obama and the Democrat’s previous Presidential candidate, John ‘Jinjhis Khan’ Kerry.

Let’s not pretend it was anybody else but the Left who denigrated our troops, and who still denigrate our troops at every opportunity.

I’m surprised that he didn’t bring Jane Fonda along to honor our soldiers. Obama “honoring” our veterans? Get real!

I have no doubt that obama was attempting to honor us on Veteran’s day. Oh, wait…

“I will be a One Term President if I do not fix this economy within 3 years”! We can not agree more Mr. President. Either you can resign or not run again because if you do, you will be defeated. Move over Jimmy Carter, we have found your replacement for the worst of the worst Presidents and it is ………….YOU!
