Gibbs ‘Tries, Convicts And Executes’ KSM

From the joyous defense counselors at Reuters:

Accused 9/11 plotter likely to face execution

By Alan Elsner Sun Jan 31

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Accused September 11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will be tried and convicted and is likely to be executed, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Sunday.

Interviewed on CNN’s "State of the Union," show, Gibbs said: "Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is going to meet justice and he’s going to meet his maker. He will be brought to justice and he’s likely to be executed for the heinous crimes he committed."

Gibbs did not confirm reports that the Obama administration has begun looking for places other than the heart of New York City to prosecute self-professed mastermind Mohammed and four accused co-conspirators in the face of fierce criticism tied to security and costs.

"We are talking with the authorities in New York. We understand their logistical concerns," Gibbs said. "We will work with them and come to a solution that we think will bring about justice."

Appearing on NBC’s "Meet the Press," senior White House adviser David Axelrod said President Barack Obama still wanted Mohammed and the other September 11 defendants to be tried in the U.S. justice system.

"The president believes we need to take into consideration what the local authorities are saying. But he also believes this: He believes that we ought to bring Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and all others who are involved in terrorist acts to justice, swift and sure, in the American justice system." …

Perhaps this is why the Obama administration is so adamant about trying these terrorists in civilian courts.

Their constant pronouncements about the guilt of the defendants might not get them off in a military tribunal.

But it’s almost a dead cert in a federal trial with even a barely competent defense attorney.

Obama does not want KSM executed. If Obama wanted KSM executed they would not be contaminating the jury pool, if that is the correct legal term.

Who anywhere in the USA has not heard someone say KSM will get a fair trial and be hanged?

Ummm…I smellin’ a type of kangaroo court in reverse comin’ on.

Just the right thing to either get this guy off on technicalities or at the very least keep it churning in the court system for years and years!

For pete’s sake…this is pre law 101. Don’t pronounce the defendant guilty until he’s had his day in court…after he has been Mirandized(?sp,) lawyer-ed up and spewing his propaganda to the numbskulls who think he’s just wonderful! And passed on mountains of security secrets…because he is now entitled to see that stuff.

And whatever you do, DON’T try this war criminal in a military tribunal. They just might get to the bottom of things…and do it without spilling national security leaks!

If Obama is dead set on giving the terrorists civilian trials, then still, let them be at Gitmo, to save money. There’s plenty of low crawling attorney’s that would step forward and defend them at Gitmo. Let those federal attorneys live in Cuba and they will be swift trials. They can think about the people who will never see their loved ones again.

Local Cubans aren’t charging much for home-cooking meals, to the prisoners, provide room service for some trailers that can be set up, and they can walk back & forth and save the environment, or rent a car.
    This will ensure swift trials.
